I was really curious to see what it looks like when they shed their antlers... I wonder if it's painful because it looks like a large open wound there.
I have a video a buck deer who shedded the antler its not red but you can see its fresh. Now why don't people just go shed hunting rather then sitting in tree stand destroying innocent life for the antler? At least with shed hunting you are really hunting (searching and seeking) rather in killing animals from a tree stand where there is no hunting involved. Just sit, bait and kill.
@Mercy4Wildlife The simple answer is that even trophy hunters make sure the meat doesn't go to waste. There are alot of folks that benefit from hunters who donate meat.
In Texas, the State has 2 mgmt programs that allows a landowner to capture (usually with a helo, bucks and does. The intent of the DMP program (usually early fall) is to capture your best buck and 20 does and put them in a pen (temporarily). This insures that all 20 does are being bred by the same buck that your captured. The 2nd program, called TTT is one where a landower can trap, tag, and transport bucks and does to another ranch. This allows the receiving ranch to infuse new genetics.
this is a cool video i always wanted a closeup view of a pedicule...by the way are those two dead? Why were they shot and when you say shot do you mean a tranquilizer because if there shedding your hunting veryyyy late in the season
