Mamie was more of a match for John than Jill ever was....Ashley and Jack pushed for them to be together...which I was happy to see....I can't remember if they got engaged or actually married but I wish Y & R had kept them together.

I saw that actual episode, and I was surprised too! Y&R has been on for a thousand years ;), and that's the first IR kiss I'd seen on that or any other show.

But considering it's almost 2011, you'd think there'd be more, and that ppl would be used to it by now.

Actually, that was not the first IR on Y&R, remember that very controversial storyline back in the mid 80's on Y&R with the character Tyrone? (played by Phillip Morris Jr.) in make-up portraying to be a white man? He was involved with the mob daughter, who he did marry. When she discoverd he was black, she didn't care, because they both had fallen in love and they kissed in that scene. As I recall, they both left town together after her father was kill by the cops.

Also, even though it was a short lived storyline as well, Neal & Victoria was involved for a minute and they kissed. Don't forget Phyllis & Malcolm, Brad & Olivia too.

Clips2Share, While there's a small part of me that's kinda surprised by this (I just recently starting watching 'Y&R' on a somewhat regular basis), they do seem to make a 'nice' couple, on the other hand I'm quite certain that men like John have felt that way about their "help" (but just didn't act on it) for more years than they could probably count. Sorry I missed that episode in particular. WOW!!!!!

why was it a shocker...because she worked for him...or because she was AA? Because you know that's no big deal in today's society. It happens all the time. He marrying Jill was no more of a shock either(she was half his age)

It was a shocker because I wasn't expecting it. John and Mamie had always been close, but I never once got a romantic vibe from them, so that kiss took me by surprise. Yes, it shocked me. Not a bad shock, but a totally unexpected turn of events shock. I can easily say her being his black maid might have contributed to the shock. They had an undeniable love and respect for each other, but that kiss... It took me by surprise.
