Ping is your relationship between you and the server. Basically the farther away the more the ping. You connection can play a large part in this also. So try too connect too servers closer too your location. Also try getting more bandwidth from your internet company.

A additional note: although i do not play this game anymore i can pretty much solo every mission on my own if i kill. If i want to arrest them i need a 2 man team now. FYI when this was made i had only maby a month of time played and the reason i did not respond to the above post is because i did not want to be in a flame war.
sorry for a month old reply but you need to learn the basics of swat 4 b4 joining a clan for more experience and skill...swat 4 is not dat easy in missions wen dere r incapacitated hostages in a middle of a gunfight. but if u want more score try incapacitating or arresting suspects....incapacitating em is hard even wid flat tiped bullets (fhj i think)
yep. most clans will not even take you if your not very good. or at least decent. Swat really is a tactical game. Very fun but out dated. The basics are not that hard with this game. Player vs player in this game is easy. I was what you call a pepper spray who*e lol.

Swat 4 gold edition, can be got at any local walmart or try ebay(dot)com. There are plenty of servers up including the FFC clan server. (clan i am in lol)
i have a low end pc (1.6GHZ, 640MB ram , geforce 2 mx400 64ram(oldie lol) but swat 4 still looks great i think. but iam going to get a new pc in a few months. my first game iam going to buy for that pc is battlefield 2^^

thats a good game. If you are into games with open battlefields with a mix of foot and vehicle and air combat you will love it.
