to be honest, comping is a hanus way of recording. i use a new channel, and record through. always best to have one continous phrase, rather than cutting in and out of comps
hey can you help me fa some reason when i record my vocals they dont play back i jst see a flat line i have logic 9 i use fast track pro for my mic input
thats a very strange way to use inserts, not sure if Logic would work differently to a standard mixer, but I would never put the reverb first in the chain?
you compressed the reverb and after that you made the pitch correction? i don´t think this makes sense ;) however. most important is, if it sounds good. the effect chain should be vice versa anyway.
Hey thanks so much for putting all these videos up! This is really cool. I just bought Logic Studio 8 though the University of Wisconsin in Madison and am so excited about it. There is so much included in the program I can't believe it. Obviously, I haven't had any professional instruction yet so I've just been learning through the manuals as well. You do a really good job.
Yeah, I am too a big fan of 7, rather than 8... The only one thing I like in 8 is that there is no dongle... Other than that, 8 is for idiots (Certain things should just remain elitist and unfathomable for the masses... end of discussion!)... and 8 is just far too colourful... I love the simple, plain, serious, no-nonsense grey/slate Logic Pro 7. Yet again, less is more. Though unfortunately, another great european institution has gotten the loud, garish, vulgar, american, mass-appeal make-over.
You are awesome!!! Your collection of videos is one of the better sets I have seen. Thanks for the help and nice presentation. Nice singing voice too.
You should really be placing the reverb on an AUX channel (Logic calls it a Bus), and use the sends. The vocals were too loud because you didn't set your compressor to work properly! still a nice video for novices ;) Keep em up!
eq first, compress 2nd, reverb last...

first compression, then pitch control
and I would put the reverb in an Aux channel

One stupid question...what is compression? Sorry lol

its essentially an effect that levels out the dynamics of a recording so that the lower volumes match up to the higher volumes and vice versa

if i could change one thing about logic pro 8, it would be to make it more like logic pro 7.
