The colonist were refused due process, unreasonable search and seizure was imposed, they had no suffrage, people were tried in England instead of in the colonies, troops could stay in people's homes without their consent. It wasn't just about paying taxes. They had laws imposed on them without their consent. This is the main reason why the Bill of Rights were placed in the Constitution to correct these flaws. The Americans at the time of the first revolution did not revolt for what Barber or Olberman or anyone else that I've seen at the time of this writing says. They revolted for real when King George refused to take any payment other than the Fiat Currency of the Bank of England as payment for taxes.
