My PID is 4 years old. It's the TET-7100 similar to the Auber. No pre-infusion or steam control. Set-up allows manual or automatic temp control.
When the brew button is pushed I can see the temp LED drop 40 degrees F during extraction. It's normal because cold water is refilling the boiler. Without the PID the recovery time can be 10 mins. or longer unless forced. With PID it's about 2-3 mins--30 secs. if the steam button is pushed on during brew & off after for quicker triple multi-shots!
Hi is the installation of the PID easy enough? I am considering to install one but wonder if it makes a big difference in the taste and the amount of crema.
Thanks I installed mine 2 days ago and I love it, I was just wondering if it was normal for the temperature to drop that much during the shot, but I guess it is......
Very nice run down, thanks! I'm going to install this same PID on my La Pavoni lever machine, so that I can maintain a more constant boiler temp.

Hey, thanks for the question. 25 secs after hitting the switch it drops to 87 degrees C. Just tested it out and drinking a latte right now! Mmmm

I got a question for you.
What is the temperature at the end of a shot (25 seconds after hiting the brew switch), how low does it drop?
Thanks for the info

It's not the group head that drops that much, only the top of the boiler.

This is a great upgrade for a Silvia. With a good grinder you can achieve really good consistancy.
