You provide explanations for what you say, which is admirable, but there is one particular part that is arguable. Where you were naming some Old Testament ideologies midway through the video and claimed that Atheists see through "fantasy" and "reality", I don't see as true. What you were mentioning were life codes, rather than beliefs or make-believe acceptance. It's not a fantasy that many religious characters follow those guidelines. Through my experience, many of those customs are dying.
It makes me laugh when theists quote their holy books in an argument against an athiest. As an anti-religion de facto atheist those kinds of arguments are water off a ducks back in my opinion...I respect a theist that can make a decent argument without referring to a document that is in essence "chinese whispers" - hardly done as the book is all they have. Those who insist that Atheism is a religion should really be directed to a dictionary and do away with your ignorance and intolerance.
Funniest part ever in terms of how they quote their holy book in arguments against Atheists (assuming half of them have read the book considering Agnostics as myself and Atheists were polled to have known far more about Christianity than Christians in general)...is then you can go through Deuteronomy, Leviticus, as well as other various sections. They speak of rape being alleviated by paying a virgin's father 40 gold and marrying her, as well as slavery etiquette.
So if you don't like religion then why are you atheist? which is a religion! I've been there before where I didn't believe in God. I never called myself an atheist during that time because I could see that it was a religion and wanted to break away from religious beliefs at the time. A person that doesn't believe in God or religion doesn't waste time w/ believers because it is just that - a waste of time. As an atheist .. your are religious in your beliefs as your rant fully suggests.
Excuse me, I'm a Christian and I don't condemn people, i decide what i want to do with my own body, I love science and don't think that science and religion should conflict at all, the Bible is up for interpretation. And i know many many very intelligent people who are strong believers. The basis for christianity is acceptance, and I think many people forget that. Including you. With no disrespect, Don't talk about things when you don't understand it fully.
Hi, my name is Roger and I would like to talk about Cheeseburgers, I wish more Cheeseburgers would speak out, every delicious cheeseburger is important; we live in a vast and dangerous universe with pickles and a colossal hunger, but here on Earth we have CHEESEBURGERS!!! Hell yeah!
Speak out what? You have absolutely nothing to speak out of. Please teach me a value or something, all you guys are doing is speak against religions, that's all you guys can do. Even if I was an Atheist I would shut up. Nobody is preventing you from being one, it's your right, but just shut up about it please.
well said, i have to admitt that to not have any faith is scarey some times. But still, i wont give in to fear. Thoug i couldnt belive in god even if i wanted. Its just to stupid of an explenation to life! keep up the good work!
well said, i have to admitt that to not have any faith is scarey some times. But still, i wont give in to fear. Thoug i couldnt belive in god even if i wanted. Its just to stupid of an explenation! keep up the good work!
These so call god loving religious people is soo full of anger and hate, but I wont blame them its how they were trained in church as a child and wasn't smart enough to think for themselves later in life or was to dumb too try thinking further in depth about religion and theology.
Atheism is simply a religious belief.....the selfish belief that you should make yourself your own god and the choice to ignore Almighty God who continually awaits any who would come to him. Jesus Christ is LORD, there is no other whereby we must be saved.
Wow... Reading these comments, I am shocked you Christians are so mean, rude, and swear a lot. You prove that you are not living the way you say your religion tells you to - kindness, love, etc. Shame on you. I'm an agnostic atheist and I am better than that.
@bcbdancer as an agnostic myself, im starting to believe there is no such thing as a god. i always believed in there being some sort of figure. or atleast thats what i thought. but i never followed a religion. simply because all these religions spark controversy and wars. they lie about what they believe. im done with it all. i dont care what happens to me after death. if there is an afterlife, good times, if there is no afterlife. good times. either way. were all gonna be dead in a few yrs.
@bcbdancer that is soooo true these so call god loving religious people is soo full of anger and hate, but I wont blame them its how they were trained in church as a child and wasn't smart enough to think for themselves later in life or was to dumb too try thinking further in depth about religion and theology.
Can i ask you a question. I presume you are homosexual (looking at the rings in both ears)....How do you handle shit on your bedsheets after sex with another man..come on you have to admit it,,it is a GROSS is it not?..do you change the sheets before you go to sleep? ..your predecessors were chastised by God..read the fire and brimstone on the town of Sodom and also google the images of pompeii when those homosexuals and lesbians were hit by the wrath of God..
how can it be bullshit ranting?..normal couple get semen and fluids on sheets ..homosexual will inevitably get shit on the sheets..get real why dont you and open your eyes to reality..Homosexuals are disgusting as are Lesbians ..they are worse than animal..even animals know whats right and wrong.
@ChooseHeaven- That REALLY funny because in the ANIMAL KINGDOM HOMOSEXUALITY EXISTS ASWELL!!! Sounds like your the one who NEEDS to get with REALITY! Now go put that shit in your pipe AND GO SMOKE IT!!!!
TUT-TUT anything to try to justify your perverse filthy ways,,like i said you are worse than animals.. dirty pigs in fact. You lesbians smell of fish all day with your dirty habits and the men arent really men are they? ..taking it up the rear...YUCK..You go against the grain of creation. I would hate to be you
@ChooseHeaven You presume him to be a homosexual and yet you don't know. That's judging him. That goes to show just how good of a christian you are. You can't even follow the teachings Jesus who said "judge not lest ye be judged". You better go and ask for gods forgiveness before you get sent to hell for not following your own belief systems.
I best leave now, it has been a while since I've watched Religion vs Atheist video. The level of hypocrisy on both sides is utterly depressing. The man in this video alone is inciting indifference and discrimination in the same way a preacher would do upon "heretics".
"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism."
—Nikita Khrushchev
"We will bury your grand-children without firing a shot"
-Khrushchev (on turning the West communist from within).
Look up the "Communist Goals for America" that were uncovered by Congress in the early 1960s right around the time prayer was pushed out of school because of one atheist.
The atheist movement = communist agenda.
"I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal." Roger Noah Baldwin (Founder of the ACLU)
The thing that kills me about theists is the fact that they believe that just because I refuse to believe in their "god", I must be the most vile and inhumane person on planet earth. I'm out to eat, rape. and murder their good Christian children. Just because I don't believe in your god, doesn't make me an evil person.
@danayaulove i totally agree with you. let's also not forget about the atheists who think they are smarter or more superior to someone just because they believe in a religion.
Religion has NEVER been a good thing, has NEVER had any positive practical application, and has actually more often than not, been far more destructive then helpful. It is vital that humanity drops religion as a whole if we are to grow as an intellectual species.
And anyway, I think if it's something that's keeping someone happy and healthy, you shouldn't try to take that away from them. As long they're not hurting anyone I think it's fine.
Actually it's the moderates that perpetuate the zealots. The problem lies with the fact that they try to infringe their beliefs upon everyone else based upon their imaginary beliefs.Abortion, capital murder, blue laws, stem cell research, creationist books in schools, missionaries discouraging the use of condoms in AIDS infested countries, etc. etc. & these are just the moderates.
I'm so confused on why both sides (atheists and theists) love to try to prove eachother wrong. I've done some observations and absolutely nobody cares about what the other side has to say. When someone converts to either side, it's usually without any persuasion from either side. So I'm simply say to both sides; save your breath because nobody cares.
Even Christians can poove christianity wrong, theres so many contradictions. but, you shouldnt generalise, prove islam wrong and ill convert to your Atheism I SWEAR, ive worked hard to find the truth i went against my whole families beliefs at the age of 15 and they were Indians, plx rply
I agree with you on so many levels. I believe in God, but it should be separated from governmental issues. You made a completely valid, articulate, and logical conclusion.

Hey dude ! You look like a homo! You look very confused! I don't care what you do with your life ; just don't attack christians! Christian America has helped many different nations throught history! How long would you last in a muslim country? In Christian america can you express yourself and not be persecuted. You have that right! Thanks to christians.
@joecool174 "Thanks to christians" What? Uhhh, no. Would you please tell me where it says that the lawmakers who gave you rights were Christian? Sure, most of them probably were, but you can't go around saying things without proof to back it up. "Christian America has helped many different nations throughout history" Yeah, so have atheists.
The reason you are an atheist is because you don't like the accountability factor. You are a homosexual and don't like the fact that it is immoral;same as liars ,adulterers, murderers etc.You want society in general to endorse your behavior. We can't. What did JESUS say to his followers? Treat others the same way you would like to be treated. What a wonderful world it would be if we followed his advice.
ad hominem attacks... very christian and very classy. Obviously I must be gay if I'm also an atheist right? That's stupid. Anyways, I'm highly accountable for my actions more so because I realize there is no afterlife or god. This is it. I don't care what Jesus supposedly said and your statements make no sense. Think for yourself and stop hiding behind the fantasy and fiction of a terrible and obsolete book.
@joecool174 think youl find the jesus comment you made as a piece of plagerism, but hey dont remove your head out the sand, as it sits very well with most religious people.
Agreed. The moment you are dragged into an alley and told "we're going to beat some godly sense into you," thats when you realize religion and its followers are overpowered bullies.
Excellent video, my friend and I concur with every sentiment. However, judging from some of the comments I have read, you are on the high road to nowhere. To all you religious people I say confine your beliefs to your homes and places of worship and do not seek to impose your particular brand of psychosis on the rest of society. You do not have the answer to anything and certainly no explanation that makes sense as to why and how we are here.
to belive in "god" (nija turtles if u wish) makes them feel better, like a drugadict they dephend 100% on this CHIMICAL (barin generated) feelings , so , yea u can say they are deluded, but like a drugadict they cant see it, its a desees, on they first years of life they are atheist, till parents , culture
put "god" in their brains, with the years they
become junkys of god, in part couse they dont want to accept a big part of theyr lives was a lie.

come on! haha bet you when your dying you'll be begging there is a GOD! MAN CHILL OUT. i believe in god , but i'm not bragging bout it. mmmm i maybe know why you don't believe in god, your life must be so fucked up, i nobody has helped you, not even the guy upstairs, gosh, have i little bit of faith!
Atheism. They theory that nothing started nothing and nothing happened to nothing until nothing exploded into planets and stars suddenly creating dinosaurs which raped gorillas which made us. Makes perfect sence.
It's not religion thats bullshit,it's the fucks and shits who take it like it's serious.
Even with atheists. It's just a fucking brawl between who's right and wrong. Oh, and plus it's unconstitutional.
I am an atheist, and I wish evangelical christians would shut up. Quit trying to convince govt's to overide the seperation of church and state. Maybe then atheists would not need to speak up. I am also Canadian. I wish the US treasury would take in god we trust of their curency and out of the pledge of allegiance, and Canada should take the word god out of our national anthem.
I also believe there is no need for seperate religious schools. What the hell is church for?
I wish you would stop brainwashing your children. Don't make fun of us for raising Children as Christians, you hypocrites, you raise your children as athiests who are bound by no rules, none but the rules they set for themselves, the rules they will never follow and the laws they will forget about.
I can refute any of your points, I won't stab you. Don't steriotype Christians.
Though you say you can refute any of my points, you've yet to demonstrate it. You -are- a typical christian in that you believe atheists are immoral and lawless. Quite typical.
Religion is what brainwashes people. Christians need to stop stereotyping atheists hypocrites. Atheists are bound by the laws of the land like everyone else. Atheists make up less than 1% of the US prison population. We live by the Golden Rule. Ted haggard and many others don't practice what they preach. You just showed what a retarded dumbass you truly are.
So as opposed to letting your children go through the course of finding their OWN spirituality by "raising them Christian", you push your beliefs on them (probably punish them for questioning it)...yet call THIS brainwashing for "making fun of us"? Wow...
I wish more Atheist celebs would speak out (from for instance Hollywood), at least to counter the lates rash of religious celebs who just won't shut up about their faith and beliefs.
A good example of promoting tolerance and understanding is the Canadian show "Little Mosque on the Prairie." Check it out if you can. It is a show that promotes Tolerance and Understanding. It shows how we have to live in a society with people of different beliefs and ideas. That is much better than intolerance that comes from advocating any belief system. Including Atheism.
A lack of belief isn't a belief system. You are an atheist of every god that has ever existed except the christian one. I'm promoting the idea to omit all gods barnone.
That's like saying, "Why not accept slavery? People do it." or why not ignore pedophiles. Pedophiles don't feel their actions are wrong, why not live and let live. No, I think not sir.
Dude, don't play the slavery card. Slavery has nothing to do with religion in present day North America. Yes there were religious people who kept the African Americans down, but wasn't there religious people like Martin Luther King Jr. And Malcom X who fought for equality. Your slavery argument is not concrete and also only a fool would compare pedophiles to kind religious people.
Man you definitely received an American education. Comparing pedophiles to kind religious people. Not taking into account religious people like MLK and Malcom X who used the backing of their faiths to get equal rights. Thank God that some of my education was Canadian.
I've never said that religion doesn't have positive results in certain situations. I'm merely stating that the drawbacks far outwiegh the good. Slavery is promoted in the bible. How is this a bad analogy? Mohammed was a pedophile, how is this a bad analogy? Come on guy.
You have to remember that those books were written in the mind set of people 2000 years ago. Religions evolve through out time. Present day Europe is much better today than when the Catholic Church ruled through the Dark Ages. Hasn't the Catholic Church evolved? Does it still rule Europe? No it doesn't.
O Canada our home and native land, true patriot love in all thy sons comands. Car ton bras sait porter l'épée, IL SAIT PORTER LA CROIX! Ton histoire est une épopée. Des plus brillants exploits. GOD keep our land, glorious and free. O CANADA we stand on guard for thee. O CANADA we stand on guard for thee. You Americans just don't get it. I am atheist and I would never want my anthem changed. Vive le Canada et Vive le Québec.
At least in Canada, everyone gets along quite fine. Atheist, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Ba'Hai, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. Maybe, the problem is of intolerant people who can't accept others of different faiths and beliefs or lack of beliefs. Trust me it is possible for people to get along, Go North and see for your self.
I live in the States and people get along just fine. I think the point he was trying to make, especially as it relates to the United States, is that certain Christian groups continually attempt to indoctrinate their belief system into our government.
I totally agree that it is wrong for religious groups to put their beliefs in government. However, he goes even further to suggest that everyone should come under the umbrella of Atheism. That is something i dont agree with, just like i dont agree with everyone being Catholic (I am a Catholic). Anyways, have you ever been to the South?
Well I agree that atheism shouldn't try to "convert" people of faith. To an extent it is hypocritical but I do think that they should promote objectivity and critical thinking, both of which you can have and still be religious. Well I actually live in the south, but not the area typically called the "bible belt" or the "deep south". (Florida).
In the United States I do believe that there is a divide between black and white which obviously has historical origins. But as a whole the U.S. is actually very well assilimated. A good comparison would be Western European Muslim immigrants compared to our own. Generally Muslim Americans feel less marginalized and find themselves in a better economic situation, on par with the rest of the country.
The US is not well assimilated. I wish it was, but its not. Visit my hometown evansville Indiana. Visit western Kentucky. Visit pretty much anywhere in the bible belt. The US is not well assimilated.
Naming a small city and half of a state doesn't make a case. That could be done in any country. Minorities in the U.S. tend to do very well economically, with the exclusion of native African Americans. They generally feel less discrimination then the immigrants of other first world nations. The exclusion to that may actually be Canada, all articles I have read were a comparison of Europe and the U.S.
Dude I have lived in Canada and I have lived in other parts of the nation. Trust me people in the us are nowhere near as assimilated as the people in Canada. Take for example Toronto. New York doesnt even touch Toronto in terms of people of different cultures getting along.
What countries have you lived in. It is one thing to experience with your own eyes. its quite another if you live in one place and read about the topic.
I have lived in the United States and Belgium. I never been to Canada but I have been all through Latin America. My point is... that even if you have lived in 10 locations in the U.S. that is still only a minute portion of the country and the same applies to Canada or any other large country. The only somewhat objective evidence that exists is economic equality and any laws that may limit freedom of religion.
Ah alors, Vous habitiez au Belgique n'est-ce pas. Parlez Vous français. Je voudrais avoir d'accord avec vous. Si vous habitiez au belgique, alors vous comprendriez que J'ai dit
Yes.. of course they speak French in Belgium but in the southern half. I am an American but my mother was originally from Belgium. I had to learn Dutch (Flemish), I didn't know it from childhood. Depending on where you are in Belgium they speak Flemish, French, or German....
The only thing that i have to say is to go North and see for yourself. Go to toronto Ontario. Go to Montréal Québec. And you will see that the Canadians have it a whole lot better than we do. Oh yeah, Ottawa, British Columbia, etc.
I plan on taking a trip to Canada eventually. Canada may very well be more tolerant but I just don't accept any notion of the U.S. as being some large bigoted and segregated country (I know that wasn't what you were saying).
I am a religious person and I totally believe in seperation of Church in State. In america this is never going to be the case. That's why I throw up my hands, give up, and I plan to move to Canada.
One more thing. Whether you like it or not you are preaching a doctrine. You believe that the world would be better if everyone accepts the scientific atheist method. Most of my friends who are atheist understand that we live in a pluralistic world. We have to deal with differences in other people. I accept people who are atheist and they accept me, we are friends ;).
My entire family is christian. Many of my best friends are christian. Some of my favorite music is by christian bands and they sing message espousing the life of christ. I have no problem with the christian's themselves, only their dogma. And that problem extends to all religions. If I'm "preaching" doctrine so be it. It is critically important to our survival as a species to teach others how to think outside the lines and think for themselves.
It is more important to accept that some people are the way that they are. Tolerance and understanding, those are the things that we should be teaching. If we have that then HUMANITY will survive. Why divide and be exclusive of each other.
I'm trying to unify people. I'm not advocating divisiveness (something religion has been more than able to do on their own). What I'm advocating is teaching people how to critically think about our reality. Think about how life really works. Atheism will take care of itself. Atheism isn't a belief system. It's a lack of belief. Humanity has survived in bloodshed and division and 1 major factor for that is religion.
Dude, you are advocating divisiveness. You are advocating a mentality that everybody should be under. That is exactly the same thing that Christianity, Islam, and every other belief system does. The fact of the matter is that not everyone is going to be Christian or Muslim or Atheist. As a Catholic I understand this, we should learn to get along and understand each other. That is much more beneficial to Humanity than having one belief system for everyone.
What I'm advocating is for people to step away from fantasy. I am not espousing a doctrine, a way to live, a moral code, an after life, sin, or eternal consequence. I'm advocating -thinking-.
who are you? my pops? you don't like a script, you don't have to watch. i don't make this vids for you, i make them for me. i'm going to call CBS news and tell them to stop using a script too.
I am just saying, if you want to make your videos better, stop using a script. It is very annoying. Why don't you try to be more animating. It would make you more personable and believable.
Again, I'm not doing this for you. You don't have to like it. You can watch thousands of other people than me. I don't need your advice and, though I could give a rat's ass about subscription base, I think my 348+ subscribers likely disagree with you. Please move your criticism elsewhere. I'm not interested in this particular opinion.
Wars caused by Religion? I agree that religion is a common excuse for war even in America. However, the causes of war is always Land and resources. Yes, the religion card is played sometimes. But, the underlying reason for wars is Land and resources. Are we in Iraq because they are Muslims and we are Christian or are we there because they have a very valuable resource. I believe that the state of the Dow Jones prior to the Iraq war speaks for itself.
But religion is used as the tool to motivate a force. Crusades for instance. And there are many evangelical christians that believe it is our duty as a christian nation to war with muslims.
Yes, religion is used as a tool. But, I guarantee that if everyone was an atheist we would still have the same amount of wars over land and resources. The only difference would be that government's agendas would be clear. Not all Christians hate atheists. I have many friends who are atheist. But, we are intelligent enough to realize that wars are started over land and resources.
HAH! Please, the bible is rife with religious warfare. The middle east is in theocratic turmoil. WW2 was hitler's personal war against the jews. Please sir, there are plenty of religious wars. You are not looking at the bigger picture.
No, I am looking at "the picture." The Hebrews wanted Land (the promised land) and resources. I love the bible, but the old testament is a book about the triumphs of the Hebrew people. It doesn't change a thing. Land and resources Bucko. A government, people, provinces, colonies. Land and resources, not religion. Religion has just gotten a bad rap, that's all.
Those concepts are not mutually exclusive from religion. If you tell a people, "We're going to war with X because we want their resources and land," you are not likely to get as much support as brainwashing dogma.
How can you say that religion hasn't deservedly gotten a bad rap? Suicide bombers. Palestine. Jerusalem. Witch trials. The inquisition. WW2. Thousands of mesoamerican wars. All about religion. I don't understand how causal effect isn't evident. Take away the crutch and war is less likely, I didn't say unlikely.
Now granted, in this present day and age there are extreme Christians. But, that is because of American Protestantism. I am sorry that you were an unfortunate victim of American Protestantism. American Protestantism is very intolerant. Where as protestants in Canada and Western Europe get along with people of different beliefs. Expand your horizons, go to Toronto ON. And see how Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc. Get Along. :). Pluralism That is the reality.
Pluralism may be our present reality but that doesn't mean excuse people to base their beliefs and actions because of fantasy relationships or doctrines. I agree we live in a pluralistic world. I'm claiming, as others are, that religion is a dangerous and detrimental stance.
Religion is a very convenient tool for governments to play. But, even if you take religion entirely out of the picture, Nations work on the principles of land and resources. We would still have wars no matter what. I am Catholic and I believe in the seperation of Church and State. I believe in equality for everyone with different beliefs or lack thereof. But guess what, the reasons for war is still the same. Land and Resources.
Excellent presentation, spot on. U.S.A will fall during this century if this religious right is allowed to stay in power with their anti-science agenda.
Wow. Where are all you people. I mean, the nearest group, and it really doesn't do much, is more than an hour away from where I live. I cant find hardly anyone to converse with (except my girlfriend) about this. And there's really no 'group' in my area. But good job Trenholmes. Thank you for saying what goes unsaid all to often.
I don't mind atheists at all. I just get tired of the vast majority of them carrying on about G-O-D and religion all the time. It's like being trapped in a room with Jerry Falwell playing on a TV that can't be turned off.
But Im not some stereo-type Atheist,One the Churches want you to believe. Im not gay, or from the far left, no im a human that can think for himself. Im a patriot, but Gov. and religon dont mix. Though good things can come out of Religon like morales dont lie, cheat, steal, kill. But I think weve evolved so we dont need a made up god to explain things, We can take those morales and leave Religious bullshit behind.
Im with you, Im sick and tired of being called gay, leftist, or evil everytime I politly say I dont beleive in god. I had a nice talk with some people, but out of no where they asked are you christian, I told them I wasnt Religious, then they got up and left the table.
exactly! and I'm glad you talk about it. no matter where we are, as long as we're unafraid, we should talk and keep the conversation going! thanks for the cool comment! =)
I am Muslim, specifically a Sunni Muslim and I hate people who deny God's word or his existence like the evolutionists or the atheists. God created the universe only 10,000 years ago and for those who don't believe in God like the atheists or the evolutionists will rot in hell for eternity just like what the Holy KORAN mentions!!!
There are more inaccuracies in the koran than truths. You can interpret anything any way you like if you try hard enough. I can find prophecy in a newspaper just as easy as any religious text.
The only logical position on religon is agnosticism. You can't prove the existence or non-existence of supernatural beings?I agree that we should promote rational min
I asked a fellow libertarian/conservative friend of mine, "How was college? Did it drive you insane talking to all these crazy hippies?" He told me, "After a while, I realized it was pointless. If they were reasonable people who made decisions based on logic, they wouldn't believe what they do in the first place."
I feel the same way about religion. Why debate people who distain logic and prefer blind faith? That is why agnostics don't speak out.
I understand where you're coming from but I think religion has proven itself in the several thousand years of written history to be a divisive and turmultuous device. I think we have to speak out if we wish to promote our species forward into the future.
The Brights are celebrating 30,000 members world wide now. Richard Dawkins is setting up an international organisation. The Rational Response squad is stepping out smartly. Are you going to clebrate America's day of prayer by donating blood at a blood bank as an atheist with me? Come on its good for us and our cause!
A very well presented video, the baptists loss is the atheist gain, the main problem with America and its obsession with religion in the form of christianity is that unlike Europe we went through the reformation while America did not,it is also to be noted when the puritians landed in America it was just not their religious beliefs they brought, puritanism was also a political beast, this has seeped into the American psyche, and I wholeheartedly agree religion and state is very dangerous.
You provide explanations for what you say, which is admirable, but there is one particular part that is arguable. Where you were naming some Old Testament ideologies midway through the video and claimed that Atheists see through "fantasy" and "reality", I don't see as true. And i know many many very intelligent people who are strong believers. The basis for christianity is acceptance, and I think many people forget that. Including you. With no disrespect, Don't talk about things when you don't understand it fully.

Atheism is simply a religious belief.....the selfish belief that you should make yourself your own god and the choice to ignore Almighty God who continually awaits any who would come to him. Jesus Christ is LORD, there is no other whereby we must be saved.

@warriorspikes51 NO atheists don't believe they are god. We simply believe in 1 fewer god than you.

bcbdancer 1 year ago 2
@bcbdancer as an agnostic myself, im starting to believe there is no such thing as a god. i always believed in there being some sort of figure. or atleast thats what i thought. but i never followed a religion. simply because all these religions spark controversy and wars. they lie about what they believe. im done with it all. i dont care what happens to me after death. if there is an afterlife, good times, if there is no afterlife. good times. either way. were all gonna be dead in a few yrs.

I best leave now, it has been a while since I've watched Religion vs Atheist video. The level of hypocrisy on both sides is utterly depressing. The man in this video alone is inciting indifference and discrimination in the same way a preacher would do upon "heretics".

Now consider what your adversaries have said:
"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism."
—Nikita Khrushchev
"We will bury your grand-children without firing a shot"
-Khrushchev (on turning the West communist from within).
Mr88playmaker 2 years ago
Look up the "Communist Goals for America" that were uncovered by Congress in the early 1960s right around the time prayer was pushed out of school because of one atheist.
The atheist movement = communist agenda.
"I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal." Roger Noah Baldwin (Founder of the ACLU)
Mr88playmaker 2 years ago
Atheists are trying to turn America communist. They've been at it for years.
In America our rights and liberties are NOT granted by men (sinners). This is to ensure freedom and make tyranny impossible.
Atheists are trying to push us away from our "under God" model of Government into a "under man" model (see: Russia, China, Cuba and N. Korea)
Our founding fathers secured your rights by officially and legally placing them into the hand of God. Push God out and into the hands of men you go.

The reason you are an atheist is because you don't like the accountability factor. You are a homosexual and don't like the fact that it is immoral;same as liars ,adulterers, murderers etc.You want society in general to endorse your behavior. We can't.

That's like saying, "Why not accept slavery? People do it." or why not ignore pedophiles. Pedophiles don't feel their actions are wrong, why not live and let live. No, I think not sir.
Trenholmes 4 years ago
Dude, don't play the slavery card. Slavery has nothing to do with religion in present day North America. Yes there were religious people who kept the African Americans down, but wasn't there religious people like Martin Luther King Jr. And Malcom X who fought for equality. Your slavery argument is not concrete and also only a fool would compare pedophiles to kind religious people.
roidfits 4 years ago
Man you definitely received an American education. Comparing pedophiles to kind religious people. Not taking into account religious people like MLK and Malcom X who used the backing of their faiths to get equal rights. Thank God that some of my education was Canadian.
roidfits 4 years ago
Nice ad hominem. Keep it to yourself.
I've never said that religion doesn't have positive results in certain situations. I'm merely stating that the drawbacks far outwiegh the good. Slavery is promoted in the bible. How is this a bad analogy? Mohammed was a pedophile, how is this a bad analogy? Come on guy.

Trust me it is possible for people to get along, Go North and see for your self.
roidfits 4 years ago
I live in the States and people get along just fine. I think the point he was trying to make, especially as it relates to the United States, is that certain Christian groups continually attempt to indoctrinate their belief system into our government.
eriksname 4 years ago
I totally agree that it is wrong for religious groups to put their beliefs in government. However, he goes even further to suggest that everyone should come under the umbrella of Atheism. That is something i dont agree with, just like i dont agree with everyone being Catholic (I am a Catholic). Anyways, have you ever been to the South?
roidfits 4 years ago
Well I agree that atheism shouldn't try to "convert" people of faith. To an extent it is hypocritical but I do think that they should promote objectivity and critical thinking, both of which you can have and still be religious. Well I actually live in the south, but not the area typically called the "bible belt" or the "deep south". (Florida).
eriksname 4 years ago
In the United States I do believe that there is a divide between black and white which obviously has historical origins. But as a whole the U.S. is actually very well assilimated. A good comparison would be Western European Muslim immigrants compared to our own. Generally Muslim Americans feel less marginalized and find themselves in a better economic situation, on par with the rest of the country.
eriksname 4 years ago
The US is not well assimilated. I wish it was, but its not. Visit my hometown evansville Indiana. Visit western Kentucky. Visit pretty much anywhere in the bible belt. The US is not well assimilated.
roidfits 4 years ago
Naming a small city and half of a state doesn't make a case. That could be done in any country. Minorities in the U.S. tend to do very well economically, with the exclusion of native African Americans. They generally feel less discrimination then the immigrants of other first world nations. The exclusion to that may actually be Canada, all articles I have read were a comparison of Europe and the U.S.

roidfits 4 years ago
I have lived in the United States and Belgium. I never been to Canada but I have been all through Latin America. My point is... that even if you have lived in 10 locations in the U.S. that is still only a minute portion of the country and the same applies to Canada or any other large country. The only somewhat objective evidence that exists is economic equality and any laws that may limit freedom of religion.

roidfits 4 years ago
One more thing. Whether you like it or not you are preaching a doctrine. You believe that the world would be better if everyone accepts the scientific atheist method. Most of my friends who are atheist understand that we live in a pluralistic world. We have to deal with differences in other people. I accept people who are atheist and they accept me, we are friends ;).
roidfits 4 years ago
My entire family is christian. Many of my best friends are christian. Some of my favorite music is by christian bands and they sing message espousing the life of christ. I have no problem with the christian's themselves, only their dogma. And that problem extends to all religions. If I'm "preaching" doctrine so be it. It is critically important to our survival as a species to teach others how to think outside the lines and think for themselves.
Trenholmes 4 years ago
It is more important to accept that some people are the way that they are. Tolerance and understanding, those are the things that we should be teaching. If we have that then HUMANITY will survive. Why divide and be exclusive of each other.
roidfits 4 years ago
I'm trying to unify people. I'm not advocating divisiveness (something religion has been more than able to do on their own). What I'm advocating is teaching people how to critically think about our reality. Think about how life really works. Atheism will take care of itself. Atheism isn't a belief system. It's a lack of belief. Humanity has survived in bloodshed and division and 1 major factor for that is religion.
Trenholmes 4 years ago
Dude, you are advocating divisiveness. You are advocating a mentality that everybody should be under. That is exactly the same thing that Christianity, Islam, and every other belief system does. The fact of the matter is that not everyone is going to be Christian or Muslim or Atheist. As a Catholic I understand this, we should learn to get along and understand each other. That is much more beneficial to Humanity than having one belief system for everyone.
roidfits 4 years ago
What I'm advocating is for people to step away from fantasy. I am not espousing a doctrine, a way to live, a moral code, an after life, sin, or eternal consequence. I'm advocating -thinking-.

I believe that the state of the Dow Jones prior to the Iraq war speaks for itself.
roidfits 4 years ago

Trenholmes 4 years ago
No, I am looking at "the picture." The Hebrews wanted Land (the promised land) and resources. I love the bible, but the old testament is a book about the triumphs of the Hebrew people. It doesn't change a thing. Land and resources Bucko. A government, people, provinces, colonies. Land and resources, not religion. Religion has just gotten a bad rap, that's all.
roidfits 4 years ago
Those concepts are not mutually exclusive from religion. If you tell a people, "We're going to war with X because we want their resources and land," you are not likely to get as much support as brainwashing dogma.
Trenholmes 4 years ago

Get Along. :). Pluralism That is the reality.
roidfits 4 years ago
Pluralism may be our present reality but that doesn't mean excuse people to base their beliefs and actions because of fantasy relationships or doctrines. I agree we live in a pluralistic world. I'm claiming, as others are, that religion is a dangerous and detrimental stance.
Trenholmes 4 years ago
Religion is a very convenient tool for governments to play. But, even if you take religion entirely out of the picture, Nations work on the principles of land and resources. We would still have wars no matter what. I am Catholic and I believe in the seperation of Church and State. I believe in equality for everyone with different beliefs or lack thereof. But guess what, the reasons for war is still the same. Land and Resources.

Excellent presentation, spot on. U.S.A will fall during this century if this religious right is allowed to stay in power with their anti-science agenda.

I couldn't agree with you more on all those points. Talking to a Christian is like talking to a broken record. XD

I had a nice talk with some people, but out of no where they asked are you christian, I told them I wasnt Religious, then they got up and left the table.
boscogump 4 years ago
Wow, that's sad they couldn't have a decent conversation with you. I'm with you. Let's leave all the myth behind.

I'm British, but I do speak out on my own personal levels. Within friends and family.
I don't see much point in trying to reason with a totally brainwashed person, but I believe that the undecided should know of atheist points.
Mysterioux 4 years ago
exactly! and I'm glad you talk about it. no matter where we are, as long as we're unafraid, we should talk and keep the conversation going! thanks for the cool comment!

Only God knows the future and that's that!!!

Promoting rational thought and supressing ignorance is not only a duty of any atheist, but of anyone that cares about humanity. Great video.

Atheism is wrong because the big bang was already spoken about in the quran 1400 years before any atheist and sceintists just found out the big bang.
Sace103 4 years ago
There are more inaccuracies in the koran than truths. You can interpret anything any way you like if you try hard enough. I can find prophecy in a newspaper just as easy as any religious text.

The only logical position on religon is agnosticism. You can't prove the existence or non-existence of supernatural beings?I agree that we should promote rational min
Evangeline8888 4 years ago
I don't agree that agnosticism is the only logical position, however I'm with you in the spreading of rational thought. Thanks!
Trenholmes 4 years ago
though I disagree with a lot of what you say, very well constructed and presented.

That is why agnostics don't speak out.
ls1z28chris 4 years ago
I understand where you're coming from but I think religion has proven itself in the several thousand years of written history to be a divisive and turmultuous device. I think we have to speak out if we wish to promote our species forward into the future.

The Brights are celebrating 30,000 members world wide now. Richard Dawkins is setting up an international organisation. The Rational Response squad is stepping out smartly. Are you going to clebrate America's day of prayer by donating blood at a blood bank as an atheist with me? Come on its good for us and our cause!
KasparHauser4 4 years ago
A very well presented video, the baptists loss is the atheist gain, the main problem with America and its obsession with religion in the form of christianity is that unlike Europe we went through the reformation while America did not,it is also to be noted when the puritians landed in America it was just not their religious beliefs they brought, puritanism was also a political beast, this has seeped into the American psyche, and I wholeheartedly agree religion and state is very dangerous.
