  • The Wehrmacht was exceedingly lucky to have the successes it did early on against the Soviets. If you think about the fact that the German military trained on Soviet soil prior to the public repudiation of the Treaty of Versailles, and you know the NKVD had to have agents monitoring them - and presumably recording what they observed - the Soviets must have had a pretty good picture of the Wehrmacht order of battle and tactics and developed tactics of their own to counter them.

  • @rbilleaud You seem to miss the fact that Stalin killed alot of his experienced officers and generals, since he was afraid they would go against him. The reason that Germany attacked Russia at that time was because the most Russian great Generals was killed and the Russian fighting capability, therefore weak.

The only luck that Germany had with the attack on Russia, was that Stalin refused to believe that Germany would attack Russia, even though he was shown both proof and date.

  • soundslave, I wouldn't worry about the comments of vonRass, for people like that, there is no way of reasoning with them. They have their own little world view, blissfully devoid of fact. When challenged, they simply revert to name calling.

  • Brits and the French declared war on Germany, not the other way around. They are responsible for the start of the war alone.

  • @vonRass Hitler had always planned to take over Europe. France and Britain were going to enter the war one way or another. The fact that they stood up to Hitler in defence of Poland makes the Allies actions even more justified.

  • @soundslave Talk to me when you buy yourself some brain.

  • @vonRass So you are telling me that France wouldn't have been invaded if it hadn't declared war on Germany? That's bull.

  • Comment removed

  • @soundslave I'm not tellin' ya anything, as you're an ignorant brainwashed moron. But the point is that international profiteers of Britain and France, that made enormous fortunes during the WW1 wanted a new war with Germany, not somebody else. Britain and France declared war on Germany, but never declared war on the USSR, who invaded Poland too. The Soviets got 2/3 of the country and killed hundred of thousands of ppl there. So yeah, buy yourself some brain first.

  • @soundslave I'd much rather have one of those tin foil hats you're wearing. I surpose you think 9/11 was an inside job too.

  • @soundslave No need to show your ignorance in every comment. We all now you're an idiot by now.

  • @vonRass The start of the war was inevitable, the British and French simply made sure Hitler made no more pre war gains and advantages.

  • The British who left northern france in the humiliation defeats said they would be back to liberate france and they stuck to there world!! You will find thousands of france soldiers left with the british so they could liberate there country again and you will find thousands of french soldiers all over the world refused there countries surrender and they joined the british to fight on for france and british empire!

  • The French and British had no chance of stopping the german advance. No armies in the world could have FACT! This was germany at its best. They invented a new type of war whitch would change the ways wars are fought forever blitzreig was the new modern warfare and the french and british were totally unprepared for this new type of warfare and they had basically no chance of stopping the german advance. British never let the french down at all if they ahd stayed they would been made prisoner!

  • Patton read both Guderian's and Rommel's books so he could learn and improve hisown strategies.

  • This serie is quite nice but why are those tank models so horribly wrong :o

  • can you say honestly that the british let the french down? that they ran away.

  • @Rico8458 the british never let the french down: the grandfather of a friend recalled once that in his french regiment, during the german attack in may 1940, had a non-com run up in the building in which officers were celebrating God knows what, to warn them of the aggression. One officer turned around and dropped "we couldnt care less.." the french were defeated before the battle even started, some say by complete lack of motivation, some say by the passive collaboration of a very right wing.

  • They had about 40000 armoured vehicles altogether available for the invasion of france...........and what would anyone one have done facing the germans at that time.....lets stop the french bashing the british made it to the beach first and evacuated.........fast.

  • PLus the French surrendered

  • J. F. C. Fuller, " The Decisive Battles of the Western World and their influence upon history - From the American Civil War to the end of the Second World War", page 390: " The forces involved in the invasion of Holland, Belgium and France were: (...) Of tanks, the Germans had 2,439 available for operations"

  • Let's quote it: " Thoma then made the surprising revelation that , for the invasion of France, the Germans had only 2,400 tanks altogether - not 6,000 as French reports at the time stated. " --- "German Generals talk"; Liddell-Hart, 1948. What was decisive for the success of the german military plan was was surprise, mobility...

  • As a matter of fact it should be said that the german Panzer divisions were not so large as you may think: Liddell-Hart writes about it on his "German Generals Talk" - see von Thoma's excertp -

  • Just what I needed. Thanks!

  • Mis felicitaciones por tan serie.

  • This seris is awesome, 5 stars !!
