@hphenderson85 .......your being a hypocrite. your preaching to me about fair rugby and you cant even admit that McCaw was in the wrong. Im not condoning what heaslip did, it was clearly wrong. i never denied that. but two wrongs dont make a right. McCaw should have been sin binned.

i wouldnt say a hypocrite... What the blokes did were two totally different extremes. If McCaw punched someone he was lying on then Heaslip starting kneeing him and i said McCaw didnt deserve that because Heaslips reaction was worse then potentially i'd be a hypocrit... Apologies for calling you a loser, very passionate about McCaw and the boys, call it a trolling moment :)
And re read what i said originally. Few factors to consider with a yellow... 15 mins in, how many times had the individual or team offended and were Ireland likely to score?
@hphenderson85 why didn't kevin mealamu get red carded for 1:17 and 1:25 (the punch on irish player) this is all fucking ridiculous getting red cards for stupid things like this is bad enough the games is turning into soccer players are starting to dive it's all going wrong things like eye gouging and fiddling with peoples privates should be red card offence dog punches not good tackles but thats not the way it is but if thats a red why wasn't kevin mealamu seeing red.?
"If there's gonna be a fight, you can be pretty sure Jimmy Cowan will be in the centre of it somewhere"
that's quite unprofessional from the commentator. And trust me, I dislike Cowan as much as the next guy (coming from an AB support that really speaks volumes) and he doesn't have the best record, but when he was actually trying to get the offending player away from where he was intentionally hurting McCaw doesn't do his actions justice and really should be left out of commentating.
@Equilibr1st the knee to parra's face was clumsy on McCaw's part, but unintentional as decided by many people around the world - just look at the front page of rugbydump to figure that out. PLUS Heaslip struck out twice, clearly showing malicious intent.
dirty cheat is a bit much. if you want to talk dirty look at things like eye gouging, which irish players don't have a great record on in recent years.
mccaw pushes the boundaries with refs for sure but doesn't any decent openside? he was in-goal at the time so coming through the gate doesn't apply. as for heaslip, i think graham henry said it best at the time: 'it was just a bit of a brain melt from a very fine player'. end of story.
@mattykuchar im interested in this rule you have said 'he was in-goal at the time so coming through the gate doesn't apply' who was in-goal and is there for exempt from the rule? if maccaw was, does that mean the ball wasnt ? therefor would he not have to go through the gate because play is outside? or if the ball is ingoal, then isnt it either a try or held up? a quick search of the web just sent me to a page that has just confused the smeg out of me :/
Idiotic of Heaslip, not usually a dirty player - deserved red.
However, NZ and particularly Mccaw get away with slowing the ball down illegally every game it seems. Whether the flankers are unbound at the scrum, entering rucks from the side or diving over the top, using hands etc. they never seem to get penalised for it.
The international refs need to keep an eye on it and sort it out.
huge fan of heaslip im irish! heaslip showed an immature side of his game rising to this level of anger, stupid play which he no doubt regrets! mccaw is the best at the dark arts its his job to annoy and disrupt every breakdown which no doubt antagonizes every player on the opposition at the end of the day he gets away with it !
also i dnt see why ppl are bad mouthing mccaw.Surely ppl with a brain can see that all great flankers bend the rules from time to time THIS IS RUGBY so stop yer bitchin fellas
everyone doesnt get away with murder, matt williams(obviously biased) noted how new zealand went 47 penalties without a yellow card in the tri nations, 4 times more than australia, richie mc caw is a brilliant player but it disgustingly obvious that he is not penalised to the same extent as any other number 7..........not likely to begin in RWC in NZ either!!!
@snidgemeister You cant isolate penalties as a statistic. circumstance, timing, location and time between penalties is very important. McCaw pushes the law but hes smart about it, if he sees a yellow coming he changes up his game, he will even stop completely legal acts to play to the referee.
Contrast that with Elsom who just argues and you see why their yellow count is higher. Ausies told not to throw the ball away, 5 mins later Mitchell throws the ball away. That isnt bias, thats stupidity.
I dont care what McCaw was doing Heaslip had no business kneeing him in the head. McCaw does take the piss when it comes to being a sneaky fuck but I'd expect an Irish player to show a bit more class than acting like a South African.
@Sundance540 you're absolutely right, it was an embaressment for any Irish rugby fan and there's no excusing it. Most teams try to kill the ball on their own tryline in any case, it's not an all black exclusive. Ppl just get less worked up about it when it's a team like Italy that goes on to lose the game anyway
Its funny how Jealous everyone is of McCaw. He is probably the best player to play rugby around the world... and everyone just blames the red card on him?? Typical bad sports
McCaw is such a great flanker he has this ability to mind control referees so they don't notice him always entering the ruck at the side, putting his hands in the ruck, being off his feet at the ruck...its ridiculous he really would be kicked out of the Kiwi team if refs penalised all the shit he did...
terrible sporting nation?are you well? ireland have been doing very well over the past 10 years considering rugby is the 3rd or 4th most popular sport here. old man o driscoll is twice the player of SBW
Don't hate on either team. You only make yourself look like a douche.
Anyways, the way I see it, McCaw may have been on the wrong side of the ruck, but does that constitute a couple of knees on you while you're on the ground? It's like getting shot because you were eating a donut instead of a pizza. It's stupid stuff.
For a country with 6million+ people, Ireland is an absolute terrible sporting nation. Old man O'driscoll has been eating too many potatoes and is going to get torn to pieces by SBW.
Thats an interesting fact...however half it, (assuming 50% men and 50% women) thats 3 million....then maybe take a third of that because you have young, middle aged, and old...thats 1 million, then take into account rugby isnt irelands national sport, (which would mean take more than 50% away, say 60%) that gives you 400,000 people, now you have those who have no interest in sports, 20%? so now you have 320,000 people...not taking into account those who cannot play for shit....
@bidefordrfc According the the official IRB stats, Irelands Registered Players:153080. NZs registered players: 137835. You would think that with a higher population and a higher player base Ireland would beat NZ more. Or, you know, at least once in the history of the game..
Im not irish, i dont know their schooling, however im pretty sure football and hurling are the main sports...which perhaps means that the potential talent ireland could have might be pushed into those sports..(idk) whereas im pretty sure NZ's national sport is rugby...meaning thats what people can aspire to...you know to being a richie mccaw rather than aspiring to be another football bellend like in the NH...
@bidefordrfc That may very well be the case, I was just pointing out that Ireland actually have more players to choose from. Its something i doubt alot of people realise
Its an interesting fact actually, i mean when i did my little speel above that was just guessing, didnt realise they'd actually have that many players. or at least that many registered players...
I dont actually know what registered players takes into account though, is that anyone and everyone who plays for any club? or is it registered pro/semi pro players?
@bidefordrfc Its anyone that plays for a club or school. To play organised rugby in any nation (at any age group in both genders) you have to fill in a national registration form, they use this information to organise competitions, analyse player growth trends, allocate funding to areas of high volume etc..
The national unions are then also required to send their registration info off to the IRB who collate everything neatly. I had to do a statistics project on the whole deal haha.
@bidefordrfc Its an IRB requirement and i know in New Zealand they are very stringent in making sure every player fills one out every year. That may have to do with the insurance system in NZ come to think of it though, over here if you get injured playing rugby the govenments ACC pays for your medical bills, but they only do this if you are registered. There are holes in any system though, in this system the hole appears to be the lazy bastard running your rugby club haha
Hmmmm sounds like it...mind you being at uni i generally play for my club back home a few times a year, so i miss out on the beginning normally (which IF people actually register, is probably when its done..). Only play when they travel to places close to uni....
@shapeshifters7 except that while nz may have less registered players, they poach the best talent from all the surrounding islands.. i wonder how good they'de be if they didnt do that :)
@Marveh Well considering that the two best players in the world, Dan Carter and Richie McCaw, were only "poached" from the South Island, id say they would STILL give Ireland a hiding.
Besides that, NZ doesn't "poach". The All Blacks born in the islands moved over before they were 5. thats hardly poaching. Also, where do you think Umaga, Mealamu, Nonu, SBW, Tialata etc were born.. I'll give you a hint, its on the island with the highest concentration of polynesians and islanders in the world.
@Superkiwibro ...ireland are coming over to piss all over your world cup parade you stupid cunt..once again new zealand will bottle it on the biggest stage of all and the whole world will be tuned in to see it
@superq071 Ireland are coming to piss all over the World Cup parade aye? NZ bottled it on the world stage last time by going out in the quarters. How did Ireland do in the quarter finals by the way? Oh thats right, they didn't even make it there, they barely even beat fuckn Georgia. What about the world cup before that? oh yeah they didn't make the quarters then either..
How about this son, make the quater finals or beat NZ at least once and then we'll start taking you seriously.
im sorry but what a load of crap you guys are talking. cheating this and cheating that lol half of you guys are trying to be witty and come over as experts and shit. i just read some of my past comments and im really embarassed. im just gonna say heaslip desevered it. and im never gonna argue with anyone on youtube again lol nana lmfao hahahaha
Heaslip deserved a red....However...the reason this happens is because the refs constantly let NZ kill the ball....do not penalise...do not give yellow cards when warranted for killing the ball etc....Basically letting them get away with murder...it's the same syndrome Prem refs have with Man Untd....it's a subconsicous respect for them....
@xpat73 this is were rugby has got soft it used to be if your on the floor you are the floor. in the early 90's it wouldnt of been a pen never mind a redcard
@rogforpresident Ahahaha did you see that bitch Heaslip get dragged over the ruck like the little cunt he is. He's such a bitch he couldn't even hurt a prone man by kneeing him in the head. He's a nobody like all the Irish team.
Yeh, whereas NewZealanders are somebodies right? The only thing NZ has ever done is allow Lord of the Rings to be filmed there. At least off the rugby pitch Ireland contributes to the world. Ask someone who doesn't watch rugby to point out New Zealand on a map, they wouldn't have a clue.
McCaw had it coming. He's a dirty cheat. If the refs aren't going to punish him, well, someone else will. Watch him joining the ruck after D'arcy goes to ground, he's come in (illegally) with the sole intention of killing the ball.
@tolosenctube Barnes clearly yells 'hands away flank' - the penalty was coming, I don't see how you can justify kneeing someone because of a professional foul, even if it is mcCaw who is usually guilty of it...
@tolosenctube Cant agree more....Against the Springboks he got a warning, second warning, final warning and final final warning from the ref...I mean what crap is that?Best team in the world maybe cause they get away with everything!Good on you Heaslip....No rugby player would do that for a no reason...They break the rules constantly but sadly they do it so well...How the hell can one be happy winning like that??
I think you will find that some of those were team warnings and some were individual warnings
Besides, do you honestly think that NZ ONLY wins because of cheating? come on.
New Zealand just won the U20 world cup again, beating Wales 92-0 in the process. This continues one of the longest winning streaks in rugby (NZ hasnt lost an age grade match since 2006.)
Last year the All Blacks had a 15 match win streak.
Could it be that NZ is just better? maybe? I'll let you think about that.
@shapeshifters7 No I dont think NZ wins because they cheat.I dont think they cheat.I dont think they really need to but they do get away with murder sometimes...You cant deny that.
@NW7sOuNdS They definitely do get away with murder sometimes. But the thing is mate, if you look at the official IRB statistics, EVERYONE gets away with murder sometimes, its just that people take more notice when NZ get the rub of the green. These referees are constantly being monitored, if they have an off game they can be dropped from the referee panel at the aftermatch. They can't afford to let NZ or any other nation away with too much because it will cost them their livelyhood.
@shapeshifters7 Yeah,I mean a ref has his own reputation to look after. It must be incredibly difficult to be a ref especially reffing top teams but they must just be consistant and completely blind to who is playing on the day.Whether it's a school rugby match or a world cup final.I'm also not a fan of captains trying to swing the ref to their side you know?Play the game boys. This is Rugby not football.Bring on the RWC!Who do you think is gone take it?
@NW7sOuNdS Yeah exactly, the ref tries to be equal but it cant come out that way every time. Im sure you'll know from playing yourself, if you lose you feel that the referee was more on the opposition side. If you win then the ref doesnt seem so bad. As for the world cup, NZ is the strongest, with Australia and England looking to be dark horses. I dont like Irelands chances A lot of great players just winding down, a lot of potentially great players coming up. not enough in their prime right now
@tolosenctube Your gonna do whatever the ref lets you away with, sometimes he gets away with it sometimes he doesnt. Howvever that does not take away from the fact that he is the worlds best openside, come on its not like Ireland ever posed a chance of winning anyway.....
@tolosenctube Bullshit. Kneeing someone in the head is never justifiable. McCaw pushes the envelope as far as he can. He is brilliant at pushing far enough but he knows when to stop. It is not his fault if the referee do not call him up for foul play.
@tolosenctube Read your rule book mate, as soon as the ball crosses the 5m line you only have to retreat to the goal line. That's why everyone lines up with their feet on the try line rather than behind last man's feet. McCaw knew the rules perfectly, Heaslip went in to injure a bound man, that's low and not what we expect from the Irish.
@kozzoz Look again without the McCaw tinted glasses. He flops on the ruck at a 90 degree angle. Neither through the gate nor on his feet. Both penalties, and on the try line, both yellow cards. The ref yells at him about his hands, so we add killing the ball in the tuck for a third yellow, and his left foot never went over the try line, so he actually was offside, BTW, not my original point, for a 4th yellow.
Maybe it was revenge for when Umaga tried to break BOD's neck?
Sorry mate but your interpretation is off, 'through the gate' doesn't when a player is in the in-goal area. He steps onto the line before joining the ruck - the line counts as in-goal, so both his feet are in the in-goal, so he's free to join the ruck from wherever he stands. He's still on his feet at this stage, then he goes for the ball, gets warned, and before he can withdraw his hands is being kneed in the head.
@tolosenctube he was onside coz his foot was in goal. say what you want about mccaw, but he's still a great of the game. dirty cheat is a bit overboard
@tolosenctube yeah man mccaw had it coming just like brian odriscoll had it coming against the all blacks in 2005 when umaga and mealamu smashed him bro, mean hit
Well i've met jamie heaslip and he actually is a really nice, down to earth guy.I doubt he did this for no reason, you can see how frustrating the ABs are in their own 22.
@079Spartan that doesn't mean they got away with less...it just shows that they fouled 50% more than any of the other teams.I know you're not gonna agree but you're kind of wasting your time arguing with me coz i'm not gonna change my mind....:)
@purpleapple12345 Yes, you're right. 50% more penalties doesn't necessarily mean they got away with less. However it also means that the refs aren't ignoring them. I think what you're probably getting at is the lack of yellow cards being handed out, probably to Richie McCaw right? Yellow cards are given for deliberate foul play (punching, head highs etc) or persistent cynical professional fouls. Bearing in mind each ref is different you have to look at what the penalties were given for..........
@purpleapple12345 ....being consistently offside of a ruck will not get you into the sin bin. Deliberately slowing or killing the ball will. However I only counted the All Blacks doing that I think 3 times (during the ireland match) within their own 22 and it was never the same player twice. The ref won't bin a player unless he warns the captain that the team is close to having a man sent off for consistent infringement (I think Dan Braid got sent off for something like this in the Wales match).
@purpleapple12345 I think what it is, is that the All Blacks are smarter in the way in which they get penalised. You can bemoan the way that McCaw plays the game as Ferris did or you can concentrate on your own game and not assume that things are going to be just handed to you on a plate by the ref. Opposition not getting a yellow card right in front of the posts on the 10 meter line? Fine, commit more players to the ruck and win quicker ball, spin it out wide and repeat if needed. Ireland opted
@purpleapple12345 to put as few player as possible into rucks and rely on defense but they payed for it at the other end of the field when it came time to attack. They still had only a few players come in and sometimes late and the result was slow ball. The ref wasn't interested in yellow cards that day and so Ireland should have altered their tactics a little instead of getting frustrated.
@079Spartan i see your point of view...but its mine that the ABs get away with a lot.I know refs cant see everything but sometimes i think theyre a bit biased towards NZ.i cant remember who it was that reffed the NZ vs. wales match on saturday but he was pretty fair.
@purpleapple12345 But that's the problem. Your opinion is based on whimsy. The statistics tell me that from the Australian test in Hong Kong to the final test in Cardiff against Wales this year the All Blacks have been penalised 71 times compared to 38 times for all of their opposition (that includes Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales). So in fact the All Blacks have been penalised 50% more often than their competition and therefore actually "get away" with less. Do you understand?
@purpleapple12345 My point is you (and every other commentator on youtube) should base your opinion on facts rather than just typing out the first silly arse thing that enters your head and then qualifying the statement with "in my opinion" or some other such phrase. I mean you could literally say anything at all so long as the only prerequisite is that it's "your opinion" no matter how daft and ill informed.
Dunno why everyones gettin so annoyed!!! I admire the ABs coz their class at rugby but it just pisses me off the way they get away with everything.if an AB kneed someone in the head theyd get away with it coz refs never seem to see them do anything.some people say thats coz their so skilled but i tink its cheatin.just my opinion so no need to get angry!!!
@purpleapple12345 It's swings and round-a-bouts mate. Anyone would have been sent off for what Heaslip did because it was right in front of the ref and quite blatant. In the same piece of play Mealamu gives Heaslip a pretty decent right hook and doesn't get binned yet headbutts Lewis Moody in the recent England test and gets cited after the match. Heaslip gets carded here but not for giving Habana an elbow in the back of the head during the lions tour. This sort of thing is part of the game.
@purpleapple12345 And this idea that the All Blacks get away with more penalties than other teams is crap. It's a bit of gamesmanship by their opponents to try to level the playing field. It's a common theme throughout sport. Lance Armstrong was on drugs, Dennis Conors boat had illegal modifications, the Australian cricket team sledges and ball tampers, etc etc. You can name almost any consistently good sports team or person and come up with unfounded accusations like this.
@purpleapple12345 Ireland would have got a try? Fat chance of it making a difference in the game. Its funny how morons like you look at the person (or team in this case) thats are the best in the world and try to find reasons why they shouldn't be there. They are the innovators of rugby, the driving force behind rugby as a spectator sport, if it wasn't for them rugby would be as awesome as paint drying.
@TheMorsey007 The ABs are fuckers and evrybody knows it. They just cheat their way out of everything.ireland would have got a try there if NZ werent all over the ball
@purpleapple12345 Maybe if the team NZ were playing were good enough they wouldn't get sent off for kneeing someone in the head as I'm sure that won't help them win a GAME.
No team is perfect, but the All Blacks have and will do more for rugby than any other team.
Sorry, when was this?? I'm pretty sure you made this comment on RugbyDump aswel. Just to ensure that the people who read this comment know that it is utter shite. Heaslip has almost impeccable discipline and did not fall with his knees on any of the SA players that zisssssou has listed. I'm sure you'll tell me to watch the B&I tests to see the proof, I have and there is no evidence to back up what you have said. Please stop trolling.
Simply Brilliant...the impact is truly special-the violent change in direction of mccaws head brought tears of joy to my eyes!!call me a sick bastard if you will but i will s2y 2 words only to justify my comments- TANA UMANGA
@Liverpoolfcisbest yeah, unfortunately McCaw is hard bastard and O Driscoll is a pussy, and you guys get your asses kicked everytime you play a SH team, he kneed him in the head and you couldnt even hurt him.
@LukoSpooko The only thing O Driscoll hits hard is the turf after Umanga and Mealamu drop him on his cocky little Irish head, to this day I have never heard a pub erupt in laughter as loud as when that happened. Lol he had it coming.
thing is this happens a lot. the AB's will cheat to death not to concede and will just lay there in the way or on top of the ball and frustration mounts. Until AB indiscipline is addressed this sort of stuff will continue to happen!
@hmmm098 So basically you're saying that it's the AB's fault that Heaslip can't keep his cool, I suppose that you think Botha was justified in Head-butting Cowan simply because he made a minor infringement.
"They have the highest win ratio of close to 75 percent and rank as the number one team in the world for the most period of time in IRB World Rankings.[2] More than half of the top 20 ranked rugby union test nations have never beaten New Zealand in over 100 years of international competition"
Stupid stupid stupid.... Probably Ireland's best player of de moment out for de rest of de tour because of, wat de papers called, a 'brain explosion'!... Hopefully he's learned sumtin from it... And sum of de NZ team wer in de wrong too so i dont c y none of dem wer carded!
what about the TWO guys lying in the wrong side of the ruck?!
or how about the yellow card for richie mc caw (supposedly world player of the year) who just strolls in, enters from the WRONG side and lies down preventing any ball being released and and preventing any quick ball.
its the nzs game plan... no way were they gonna lat us benefit from darcys break, theyre a bunch of cheaters!
i cannot dispute that heaslip deserved red however proper refereeing is in order...
It is about time someone stopped that cheating prick McCaw. There is one rule for the ABs and one rule for the rest. Fucking disgrace, McCaw should have been binned, he is the biggest cheat in world rubgy and no ref will do fuck all because it will harm theire career. The ref had no choice but to sent off Heaslip, but he also saw where McCaw was and what he was trying to do. I just wish Heaslip had done a better job. There is never real justice when it comes to the fucking All Blacks. BOD!
Its becoming a joke. Ritchie McCaw is the biggest cheater in rugby just now. He is just far to good at cheating well! Quite clearly stopped the ball from coming out and as somebody that plays rugby i know how annoying it is. @mickster101 so true clearly not hard enough because McCaw finds himself lying here on a regular basis and no referee does anything.
Brainfart I think, dont think hes really known for doing stuff like this, bit like when Murrey got red carded against Wales for a kick to the head. The ref doesnt really have a choice if he seen it.
Haha plonker, did his country men a dis service. Hope the irish boys gave him crap and sent his ass home. what a dumb ass. as for the o driscoll spear, get over it already, use it as ammo to fire up the troops. I dont think it would have matter, Abz were on fire in the 1st half, and abit soft in the 2nd, coasted of the big lead and let some soft tries in.
Spare tackle on BOD wont be forgotten was the result of the tackle was a dislocated shoulder. If he walked away unhurt i know we wouldnt be having this discussion. All spear tackles have a consequence... his just happen to be worse than others.Heaslips a savage n clean player, ive supported his career!! Irish are bad at holding onto things in the past. If the Irish team/people would let that go and focus on beating the All Blacks before BOD retires, well that will be something worth holding on to
Richie makes himself an absolute nuisance as is his role as flanker but if you are going to have a crack at him use your brain and dont do it in front of the ref. Great intelligence shown there aye
i dont know much about heaslip, but is this guy known for dirty play??? if not then why oh why would he do it, ireland had an up hill fight to keep in touch with the ABs with 15 men on the park. if this was the best the irish could bring then it will be another 105 years before they even consider beating the ABs
ball was up in the air so was a fair contest till mc caw fell over. the ref called hands away maybe half a second before the kneeing. so u know he deserved a red. and he deserved the punches. and o'driscol out played by conrad smith. best center? maybe up north but not down south.
hahaha its called "pressure" if you can't get the ball out don't be stupid lol and he deserves that punch from Mealamu. That was an unprofessional act from Heaslip
McCaws a cunt anyway

"If there's gonna be a fight, you can be pretty sure Jimmy Cowan will be in the centre of it somewhere"
that's quite unprofessional from the commentator. And trust me, I dislike Cowan as much as the next guy (coming from an AB support that really speaks volumes) and he doesn't have the best record, but when he was actually trying to get the offending player away from where he was intentionally hurting McCaw doesn't do his actions justice and really should be left out of commentating.

The international refs need to keep an eye on it and sort it out.
mrcalarsenal 5 months ago
huge fan of heaslip im irish! heaslip showed an immature side of his game rising to this level of anger, stupid play which he no doubt regrets! mccaw is the best at the dark arts its his job to annoy and disrupt every breakdown which no doubt antagonizes every player on the opposition at the end of the day he gets away with it !

everyone doesnt get away with murder, matt williams(obviously biased) noted how new zealand went 47 penalties without a yellow card in the tri nations, 4 times more than australia, richie mc caw is a brilliant player but it disgustingly obvious that he is not penalised to the same extent as any other number 7..........not likely to begin in RWC in NZ either!!!
snidgemeister 7 months ago
@snidgemeister You cant isolate penalties as a statistic. circumstance, timing, location and time between penalties is very important. McCaw pushes the law but hes smart about it, if he sees a yellow coming he changes up his game, he will even stop completely legal acts to play to the referee.
Contrast that with Elsom who just argues and you see why their yellow count is higher. Ausies told not to throw the ball away, 5 mins later Mitchell throws the ball away. That isnt bias, thats stupidity.
shapeshifters7 6 months ago
I dont care what McCaw was doing Heaslip had no business kneeing him in the head. McCaw does take the piss when it comes to being a sneaky fuck but I'd expect an Irish player to show a bit more class than acting like a South African.
Sundance540 8 months ago
@Sundance540 you're absolutely right, it was an embaressment for any Irish rugby fan and there's no excusing it. Most teams try to kill the ball on their own tryline in any case, it's not an all black exclusive. Ppl just get less worked up about it when it's a team like Italy that goes on to lose the game anyway

elfirrepins 10 months ago
For a country with 6million+ people, Ireland is an absolute terrible sporting nation. Old man O'driscoll has been eating too many potatoes and is going to get torn to pieces by SBW.
samuelNZL 10 months ago
@samuelNZL
Thats an interesting fact...however half it, (assuming 50% men and 50% women) thats 3 million....then maybe take a third of that because you have young, middle aged, and old...thats 1 million, then take into account rugby isnt irelands national sport, (which would mean take more than 50% away, say 60%) that gives you 400,000 people, now you have those who have no interest in sports, 20%? so now you have 320,000 people...not taking into account those who cannot play for shit....
bidefordrfc 10 months ago
@bidefordrfc According the the official IRB stats, Irelands Registered Players:153080. NZs registered players: 137835. You would think that with a higher population and a higher player base Ireland would beat NZ more. Or, you know, at least once in the history of the game..
shapeshifters7 10 months ago
@shapeshifters7
Im not irish, i dont know their schooling, however im pretty sure football and hurling are the main sports...which perhaps means that the potential talent ireland could have might be pushed into those sports..(idk) whereas im pretty sure NZ's national sport is rugby...meaning thats what people can aspire to...you know to being a richie mccaw rather than aspiring to be another football bellend like in the NH...
bidefordrfc 10 months ago
@bidefordrfc That may very well be the case, I was just pointing out that Ireland actually have more players to choose from. Its something i doubt alot of people realise
shapeshifters7 10 months ago
@shapeshifters7
Its an interesting fact actually, i mean when i did my little speel above that was just guessing, didnt realise they'd actually have that many players. or at least that many registered players...
I dont actually know what registered players takes into account though, is that anyone and everyone who plays for any club? or is it registered pro/semi pro players?
bidefordrfc 10 months ago
@bidefordrfc Its anyone that plays for a club or school. To play organised rugby in any nation (at any age group in both genders) you have to fill in a national registration form, they use this information to organise competitions, analyse player growth trends, allocate funding to areas of high volume etc..
The national unions are then also required to send their registration info off to the IRB who collate everything neatly. I had to do a statistics project on the whole deal haha.
shapeshifters7 10 months ago
@shapeshifters7
hmm interesting though....although i dont remember ever filling one out....I suppose i must have done at some point
bidefordrfc 10 months ago
@bidefordrfc Its an IRB requirement and i know in New Zealand they are very stringent in making sure every player fills one out every year. That may have to do with the insurance system in NZ come to think of it though, over here if you get injured playing rugby the govenments ACC pays for your medical bills, but they only do this if you are registered. There are holes in any system though, in this system the hole appears to be the lazy bastard running your rugby club haha
shapeshifters7 10 months ago
@shapeshifters7
Hmmmm sounds like it...mind you being at uni i generally play for my club back home a few times a year, so i miss out on the beginning normally (which IF people actually register, is probably when its done..). Only play when they travel to places close to uni....
bidefordrfc 10 months ago
@shapeshifters7 except that while nz may have less registered players, they poach the best talent from all the surrounding islands.. i wonder how good they'de be if they didnt do that :)
Marveh 8 months ago
@Marveh Well considering that the two best players in the world, Dan Carter and Richie McCaw, were only "poached" from the South Island, id say they would STILL give Ireland a hiding.
Besides that, NZ doesn't "poach". The All Blacks born in the islands moved over before they were 5. thats hardly poaching. Also, where do you think Umaga, Mealamu, Nonu, SBW, Tialata etc were born.. I'll give you a hint, its on the island with the highest concentration of polynesians and islanders in the world.

chickenfillets74 1 year ago 4
McCaw had it coming. He's a dirty cheat. If the refs aren't going to punish him, well, someone else will. Watch him joining the ruck after D'arcy goes to ground, he's come in (illegally) with the sole intention of killing the ball.

SuperKiwibro 1 year ago
@tolosenctube Barnes clearly yells 'hands away flank' - the penalty was coming, I don't see how you can justify kneeing someone because of a professional foul, even if it is mcCaw who is usually guilty of it...
warofthemonsters1 8 months ago
@tolosenctube Cant agree more....Against the Springboks he got a warning, second warning, final warning and final final warning from the ref...I mean what crap is that?Best team in the world maybe cause they get away with everything!Good on you Heaslip....No rugby player would do that for a no reason...They break the rules constantly but sadly they do it so well...How the hell can one be happy winning like that??
NW7sOuNdS 8 months ago
I think you will find that some of those were team warnings and some were individual warnings
Besides, do you honestly think that NZ ONLY wins because of cheating? come on.
New Zealand just won the U20 world cup again, beating Wales 92-0 in the process. This continues one of the longest winning streaks in rugby (NZ hasnt lost an age grade match since 2006.)
Last year the All Blacks had a 15 match win streak.
Could it be that NZ is just better? maybe? I'll let you think about that.
shapeshifters7 8 months ago
@shapeshifters7 No I dont think NZ wins because they cheat.I dont think they cheat.I dont think they really need to but they do get away with murder sometimes...You cant deny that.
NW7sOuNdS 8 months ago
@NW7sOuNdS They definitely do get away with murder sometimes. But the thing is mate, if you look at the official IRB statistics, EVERYONE gets away with murder sometimes, its just that people take more notice when NZ get the rub of the green. These referees are constantly being monitored, if they have an off game they can be dropped from the referee panel at the aftermatch. They can't afford to let NZ or any other nation away with too much because it will cost them their livelyhood.
shapeshifters7 8 months ago
@shapeshifters7 Yeah,I mean a ref has his own reputation to look after. It must be incredibly difficult to be a ref especially reffing top teams but they must just be consistant and completely blind to who is playing on the day.Whether it's a school rugby match or a world cup final.I'm also not a fan of captains trying to swing the ref to their side you know?Play the game boys. This is Rugby not football.Bring on the RWC!Who do you think is gone take it?
NW7sOuNdS 8 months ago
@NW7sOuNdS Yeah exactly, the ref tries to be equal but it cant come out that way every time. Im sure you'll know from playing yourself, if you lose you feel that the referee was more on the opposition side. If you win then the ref doesnt seem so bad. As for the world cup, NZ is the strongest, with Australia and England looking to be dark horses. I dont like Irelands chances A lot of great players just winding down, a lot of potentially great players coming up. not enough in their prime right now
shapeshifters7 8 months ago
@tolosenctube haha thats so true ;)

skuxernater 6 months ago
@tolosenctube Learn the rules of the game first prick, the try line becomes the offside line at the ruck when you're within 5m.
Idiot.
taweraster 6 months ago
@tolosenctube Bullshit. Kneeing someone in the head is never justifiable. McCaw pushes the envelope as far as he can. He is brilliant at pushing far enough but he knows when to stop. It is not his fault if the referee do not call him up for foul play.
halgong 6 months ago
@tolosenctube Read your rule book mate, as soon as the ball crosses the 5m line you only have to retreat to the goal line. That's why everyone lines up with their feet on the try line rather than behind last man's feet. McCaw knew the rules perfectly, Heaslip went in to injure a bound man, that's low and not what we expect from the Irish.
kozzoz 5 months ago
@kozzoz Look again without the McCaw tinted glasses. He flops on the ruck at a 90 degree angle. Neither through the gate nor on his feet. Both penalties, and on the try line, both yellow cards. The ref yells at him about his hands, so we add killing the ball in the tuck for a third yellow, and his left foot never went over the try line, so he actually was offside, BTW, not my original point, for a 4th yellow.
Maybe it was revenge for when Umaga tried to break BOD's neck?
SOB's gonna getcha!
tolosenctube 5 months ago
Sorry mate but your interpretation is off, 'through the gate' doesn't when a player is in the in-goal area. He steps onto the line before joining the ruck - the line counts as in-goal, so both his feet are in the in-goal, so he's free to join the ruck from wherever he stands. He's still on his feet at this stage, then he goes for the ball, gets warned, and before he can withdraw his hands is being kneed in the head.
kozzoz 5 months ago
@tolosenctube he was onside coz his foot was in goal. say what you want about mccaw, but he's still a great of the game. dirty cheat is a bit overboard

purpleapple12345 1 year ago 2
@079Spartan that doesn't mean they got away with less...it just shows that they fouled 50% more than any of the other teams.I know you're not gonna agree but you're kind of wasting your time arguing with me coz i'm not gonna change my mind....:)
purpleapple12345 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 Yes, you're right. 50% more penalties doesn't necessarily mean they got away with less. However it also means that the refs aren't ignoring them. I think what you're probably getting at is the lack of yellow cards being handed out, probably to Richie McCaw right? Yellow cards are given for deliberate foul play (punching, head highs etc) or persistent cynical professional fouls. Bearing in mind each ref is different you have to look at what the penalties were given for..........
079Spartan 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 ....being consistently offside of a ruck will not get you into the sin bin. Deliberately slowing or killing the ball will. However I only counted the All Blacks doing that I think 3 times (during the ireland match) within their own 22 and it was never the same player twice. The ref won't bin a player unless he warns the captain that the team is close to having a man sent off for consistent infringement (I think Dan Braid got sent off for something like this in the Wales match).
079Spartan 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 I think what it is, is that the All Blacks are smarter in the way in which they get penalised. You can bemoan the way that McCaw plays the game as Ferris did or you can concentrate on your own game and not assume that things are going to be just handed to you on a plate by the ref. Opposition not getting a yellow card right in front of the posts on the 10 meter line? Fine, commit more players to the ruck and win quicker ball, spin it out wide and repeat if needed. Ireland opted
079Spartan 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 to put as few player as possible into rucks and rely on defense but they payed for it at the other end of the field when it came time to attack. They still had only a few players come in and sometimes late and the result was slow ball. The ref wasn't interested in yellow cards that day and so Ireland should have altered their tactics a little instead of getting frustrated.
079Spartan 1 year ago
@079Spartan i see your point of view...but its mine that the ABs get away with a lot.I know refs cant see everything but sometimes i think theyre a bit biased towards NZ.i cant remember who it was that reffed the NZ vs. wales match on saturday but he was pretty fair.
purpleapple12345 1 year ago
Im entitled to an opinion!!!:) i just think the ABs seem to get off very lightly most of the time.you obviously dont agree but thats YOUR OPINION...
purpleapple12345 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 But that's the problem. Your opinion is based on whimsy. The statistics tell me that from the Australian test in Hong Kong to the final test in Cardiff against Wales this year the All Blacks have been penalised 71 times compared to 38 times for all of their opposition (that includes Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales). So in fact the All Blacks have been penalised 50% more often than their competition and therefore actually "get away" with less. Do you understand?
079Spartan 1 year ago
@079Spartan ...like i said.. Just my opinion!!!!...
purpleapple12345 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 My point is you (and every other commentator on youtube) should base your opinion on facts rather than just typing out the first silly arse thing that enters your head and then qualifying the statement with "in my opinion" or some other such phrase. I mean you could literally say anything at all so long as the only prerequisite is that it's "your opinion" no matter how daft and ill informed.
079Spartan 1 year ago
Dunno why everyones gettin so annoyed!!! I admire the ABs coz their class at rugby but it just pisses me off the way they get away with everything.if an AB kneed someone in the head theyd get away with it coz refs never seem to see them do anything.some people say thats coz their so skilled but i tink its cheatin.just my opinion so no need to get angry!!!
purpleapple12345 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 It's swings and round-a-bouts mate. Anyone would have been sent off for what Heaslip did because it was right in front of the ref and quite blatant. In the same piece of play Mealamu gives Heaslip a pretty decent right hook and doesn't get binned yet headbutts Lewis Moody in the recent England test and gets cited after the match. Heaslip gets carded here but not for giving Habana an elbow in the back of the head during the lions tour. This sort of thing is part of the game.
079Spartan 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 And this idea that the All Blacks get away with more penalties than other teams is crap. It's a bit of gamesmanship by their opponents to try to level the playing field. It's a common theme throughout sport. Lance Armstrong was on drugs, Dennis Conors boat had illegal modifications, the Australian cricket team sledges and ball tampers, etc etc. You can name almost any consistently good sports team or person and come up with unfounded accusations like this.
079Spartan 1 year ago
@purpleapple12345 Ireland would have got a try? Fat chance of it making a difference in the game. Its funny how morons like you look at the person (or team in this case) thats are the best in the world and try to find reasons why they shouldn't be there. They are the innovators of rugby, the driving force behind rugby as a spectator sport, if it wasn't for them rugby would be as awesome as paint drying.

what about the TWO guys lying in the wrong side of the ruck?!
or how about the yellow card for richie mc caw (supposedly world player of the year) who just strolls in, enters from the WRONG side and lies down preventing any ball being released and and preventing any quick ball.
its the nzs game plan... no way were they gonna lat us benefit from darcys break, theyre a bunch of cheaters!
i cannot dispute that heaslip deserved red however proper refereeing is in order...

If the ref had pinged that cheating prick McCaw quicker, Heaslip would not have done what he did. WHY is he alowed to get away with it every game?
dartmoordog 1 year ago
It is about time someone stopped that cheating prick McCaw. There is one rule for the ABs and one rule for the rest. Fucking disgrace, McCaw should have been binned, he is the biggest cheat in world rubgy and no ref will do fuck all because it will harm theire career. The ref had no choice but to sent off Heaslip, but he also saw where McCaw was and what he was trying to do. I just wish Heaslip had done a better job. There is never real justice when it comes to the fucking All Blacks. BOD!
dartmoordog 1 year ago

If the Irish team/people would let that go and focus on beating the All Blacks before BOD retires, well that will be something worth holding on to

and people wonder why the all blacks have had the wood over the irish for such a long time with river dancing num nut moves like this

Richie makes himself an absolute nuisance as is his role as flanker but if you are going to have a crack at him use your brain and dont do it in front of the ref. Great intelligence shown there aye
mcuz33 1 year ago
i dont know much about heaslip, but is this guy known for dirty play??? if not then why oh why would he do it, ireland had an up hill fight to keep in touch with the ABs with 15 men on the park. if this was the best the irish could bring then it will be another 105 years before they even consider beating the ABs

ball was up in the air so was a fair contest till mc caw fell over. the ref called hands away maybe half a second before the kneeing. so u know he deserved a red. and he deserved the punches. and o'driscol out played by conrad smith. best center? maybe up north but not down south.
blanek0 1 year ago
hahaha its called "pressure" if you can't get the ball out don't be stupid lol and he deserves that punch from Mealamu. That was an unprofessional act from Heaslip
tufzz 1 year ago
on the other hand i don't think Heaslip knew McCaw's head was there cos he was bowing down in the ruck but still it was stupid to use his knees lol
