  • Defying Gravity- the Mormon version

  • @LittleMonsterRina Actually this more "The Wizard and I" but yeah...

  • it takes real talent to rip off the score of every musical ever written and put it in to one original show. god its so good.

  • I am doing this with a friend for our choir final.. We are gonna blow God's freaking mind.. But mostly me.

  • my friend and i have decided to do this song for the talent show at school :3

  • and i stay out of your way

    Out of my way!!

  • This musical is FUNNY!!

  • It is pretty fun to be a real Mormon and listen to this musical, because I honestly find this to be hilarious!

  • You've done an awesome job KEVIN!

  • " The Wizard and I" anyone?

  • @slytherinrocks1231 Also Defying Gravity!

  • I think they were parodying The Wizard and I here. They sound so similar it's almost scary.

  • this is disgusting

  • @Chelsgirl030 Jesus hates you this we know, 'cause Jesus just told you so.

  • @Chelsgirl030 What makes you say that?

  • my best (blowjob) friend!

  • BLOWJOBS!

  • 3 people weren't me

  • It kind of sounds like a mix of 'Popular' and 'Defying Gravity'

  • @Soooooooooooonicable I KNOW RIGHT??!!!

  • @Soooooooooooonicable omg exactly what I was thinking...

  • 3 mormons saw this

  • This shit gets me pumped

  • This sounds way more like The Wizard and I than Defying Gravity, (wide-eyed, overly confident, etc.). Defying Gravity sounds like I Believe. Either way, I love them all.

  • @dammitkirbyjump i believe is actualy i have confidence from the sound of music

  • there are these morman boys that keep coming to my door i showed them this....they never came back!

  • Hahhah, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have admitted to being fans of Wicked. It's sounds like touches of Wizard and I and Defying Gravity

  • @garethcumming I'd say this parodies For Good more than Defying Gravity

  • Haha most of my family is Mormon and I find this absolutely hilarious! I don't see why anyone's offended.

  • @ellemadore I am mormon and I had a friend show this to me trying to offend me and get me mad but I couldn't stop laughing, its funny!

  • @ellemadore I have some Mormon family members too,but my Uncle dragged them to see it when they were visiting him,and now they love it. I don't find it offencive at all. (Even though I'm not mormon lol)

  • @ellemadore

because you have a sense of humor! Really, if you wave off and ignore rude comments and treat them as a joke, you're so much more happier in life. XD

  • That's a real slap in the face to the other guy....

  • I went to NY to go see Wicked.

I wish I could have seen this instead <3

  • @tallperson605 Wicked still is nothing to sneeze at XD

  • @namelessfire too true, but if I go back next year I really hope this is still gonna be there :D

  • This song makes me happy :o

  • Idk just don't understand the popularity

  • @VeteranDifficulty Sucks to be you then.

  • @webinzluver67894 Problem?

  • i am mormon and personally THIS SUCKS!!!!!!

  • @webinzluver167894 Then don't listen to it.

  • @webinzluver167894 well no shit...

  • I hate living in the middle of nowhere. I don't really like musicals, but there's been a few I've wanted to see, but the nearest place to see a show (and only a touring one, at that ) is 3 1/2 hours away. Really sucks. :P

  • @gustjorodedheo i live in a country where musicals don't exist, so consider yourself a very lucky person.

  • Frick the phone bills. Frick the taxes. Frick the new textbooks for class this year. I'm saving up every penny I earn for one ticket to see this masterpiece.

  • Better than wicked.

  • I will do something incredible that blow's God's Freaking mind!

  • @chrisplogan11 Subtext!

  • Why will no one record this musical and post online!?!? DX

  • @ChipmunkNationFan200 I have the bootleg video actually xD But it's sorta old it was recorded in March (not by me), some lyrics changed... but it's fine xDD So funny.

  • 1:34 From there on is like, the best thing I've ever heard. He's got SUCH a voice!!!

  • I wish they would release the sheet music book for this show soon! I want it :D

  • @ubertekee They have.

  • @crashbuist Really? Are there only certain places you can find it? Cause I've looked a bunch of places and can't seem to locate it........where did you find it?

  • @ubertekee Oops, just kidding, I saw the book and lyrics and thought it included music.

  • I NEED TO SEE THIS! I knew it was a parody from wicked before i even checked. I love wicked and i know the songs ANYWHERE XD

  • lets face it this sounds like every song from wicked combined.

  • Oh thank God I'm not the only one who hears "The Wizard and I" in this!

I love the musical references to other showtunes. The opening for "I Believe" parallels the beginning of "I Have Confidence" from The Sound Of Music (I believe that that is the title) and the music for parts of the chorus for "Latter Day Saints" or whatever the finale song is called reflects "You Can't Stop The Beat" à la Hairspray. Those are the main ones I've heard =)

  • this is just GENIUS I need to see this play!!!

  • all the songs parody other musical songs

  • this show is a must see!

  • But Mostly... MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

    The Wizard... and IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!

  • Some people say Defying Gravity some which you really hear around 1:40 but A lot of it is the Wizard And I... It just depends.. the music is a weird blend of both but the opening sounds like raw wicked music.

  • @KelseySayz did it ever occur to everyone that this is EVERY song from Wicked combined... a lot of them sound very similar.

  • @helencheddar yeah... when did I say it didn't? I just pointed out some of the really prominent ones...

  • so. much. musical. parody.

    can't. even. breathe.

  • Def "The Wizard And I." I just played both at the same time and couldn't stop laughing. This song is wonderful!

  • its a parody of the wizard and I, same chords..

  • Where can I get this on DVD or watch online?!?!?!

  • His voice with the orchestra is chilling.

  • When I first heard this song, I heard "The Wizard and I" from Wicked :)

  • OMG, it is a morphed Defyiing Gravity (AKA the best broadway song ever produced...ever, period!!!!) haha

  • Please release a dvd of this play Trey and Matt!

  • this musical is genius...as is this song. cant stop listening

  • Thank goodness every broadway musical makes it over here a year or two later when it goes on tour. Definitely getting tickets.

  • This song is amazing! OMG! Hahaha.

  • defying gravity anyone?

  • @UberWackyAmerican Of course!

  • I wish they had done this on the Tony Awards, so they could showcase both of the leading men.

  • @redsaabster The problem is that it's a pretty short song. I Believe is just under five minutes, while this is under three. I personally wish that they did "Hello" or "Two by Two." Of course, Hasa Diga Eebowai would've been the ultimate song to do, but there's the slight issue of translation.

  • I just wish they could perform a not-so-profane version of the musical. I might actually watch it then.

  • @heyman537 but then it wouldn't be at it's full awesome capacity, i guess i'll just have to see it twice to make up for your lack of seeing it

  • @heyman537 What is the problem with profanity?

  • ya Stephen Schwartz did it first and it sounded better but ya i love this musical despite this

  • This song is SO "Wicked"!! :P

  • "and there's no limit to what we can do; me and you" Is laughably "unlimited, our future is unlimited"

  • bahahaha! I am LDS and while I don't love all the songs in this musical I think that this song is pretty great!

  • I just love how happy they always sound!

  • Definitley defying gravity spoof. That just makes me so happy.

  • I really support arts, and I love musicals and I am LDS, I really liked this songs. But, of course as funny as it is the show, MANY MANY things on stage of this show are NOT true. Our Missioneries, it's true, they are REALLY young, 18 years! But many of them REALLY belive in what they preach. If you want to know more and mores specific things abour our religion: mormon.org I am LDS, young woman and I belive! (:

  • Take that Seth Macfarlane. Don't think he could ever top this.

  • Oh man 2:33 has a cool horn riff there. Sweet song.

  • Hasa Diga Eebowai!

  • DEFYING GRAVITY.

  • Wow..... First off, what a sensational, moving, sick song. Just, wow. And secondly....Defying Gravity much? Lol. I wonder if he comes off the ground at all. This song is my new fave of this musical.

  • ... every dinner needs a sidedish - on a slightly smaller plate!...

  • I love how this sort of parodies Defying Gravity.... I cant wait till this show comes to the UK

  • @garethcumming That was exactly what I thought the song sounded like. It got to the chorus and suddenly I imagined Elphaba as a Mormon.

  • @CassaStarfire LOL! It all makes sense now! It wasn't her green skin that attracted discrimination. It's because she's a Mormon. Look at her clothing in the "The Wizard and I" sequence, it's rather Sunday-looking. And like a Mormon, she tries to do what's right but society prevents her from doing so.

  • @garethcumming umm I believe you are confusing that song with The Wizard and I

  • @garethcumming is it coming over here cause am hoping it does,i want to see it

  • @garethcumming I do not think it parodies defying gravity but wicked in general it does!

  • @garethcumming Do you think it will come to the uk? I'm not sure it will..the humour might kidna go over British heads. Like jokes about Kolob etc....we don't really get morons in the UK. I'd personally love it to come but don't know how likely it is! Fingers crossed!

  • @MusicAndTheMirror hey Avenue Q went to London even though they don't fully understand how funny For Now is when they say, "George Bush!"

  • @borgqueen45 Actually they changed the lyrics...it said 'BP' is only for now. And it now says 'Jedward' are only for now! haha...It might come but sometimes us brits just have a differenct sence of humour. I'm one that'd love it, because i studied the faith ha. But if you didn't know anything about it ALOT of jokes would be missed!

  • @garethcumming That was TOTALLY supposed to say Mormons! Not morons!

  • @MusicAndTheMirror lol sure it was

  • @garethcumming 2:31 especially!!!

  • @garethcumming oh yeah no it's definately intentional :))

  • @garethcumming and "The Wizard and I"

  • @garethcumming Actually, it supposedly parodies 'The Wizard and I'.

  • @garethcumming You can totally hear the same chords and harmonies from Wicked. This is just amazing. :D

  • I've listened to this song like 8 times now. I NEED to see this show!!!
