this is a great tribute to skip james...it is a better version than his, but he was by himself in the 30's doing it. A amazing guitarist has to pull off that one and clapton does, which shocked me. I hated clapton until this song then started to understand how great he is.(especially Derrick and the Dominos)
Used to cover this in late 60'sI... Was a drummer then.Got a few more minutes of this with my drum solo...Usta.. think..! I'm so glad I can get out in the cool air and have a fag after thispowerbox song (:)
i dont see how people can go around hating music. i just dont understand. i would never do that. they must be really bored. i dont even know really this bad, which im sure is sad, and im not totally crazy about this song but its cool. and i would never hate on it. respect peoples music. there is absolutely no point in cutting it down.what good comes out of hating ppls music? do u want a badge or something? all it does is pointlessly get ppl mad.
Bruce's bass sounds the way a bass should sound -- strong and "wooly." Clapton's soulful playing is just awash in bluesy psychedelia. Baker's great drumming is straight-out Jazz-flavored. The vocals are splendid. This holds up -- no matter what.
@eyesthatshine um,,,no,,,this was not chemically induced...unless Skip James was drinkin when he wrote the song. This is originally a Skip James song. Lovely. Peace and...good luck in life
I was just playing the original 1930 Skip James recording on a Yazoo CD... I might not have been ready for it back at the time I first heard this Cream song many years ago. But now it's the James that speaks to me the most... definitely the James. His recording is eerie and very human.
If he's so glad then why doesn't he know what to do? Oh, I know, he's saying it sarcastically because he's tired of her treating him like crap & he doesn't know what to do about it. Hey, I answered my own question.
@railbuggy That's right: he's saying it to overwrite/replace a negative with a positive emotion/feeling. And this will assistant in attracting a better/positive experience/situation, since he is saying it ( ♫I AM SO GLAD! ♫ ) with strong emotion and feeling.
Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker sure WERE 'good buddies', weren't they! They hated each-others' living GUTS from the beginning. Eric was FOREVER cool, and just didn't want to step-into the middle of it.
@mootle661 Martin Scorsese (director of Casino), besides knowing how to make really, really, ridiculously good fucking movies...has great taste in music. There's a lot of 60's and 70's rock his favorite is The Rolling Stones, fucking loves The Stones.
Why do the dislike guys get bashed all the time? And most of all why do people care?! I like the song and I can care less if any you faggots like the song or not.

"Literally" your opinion. Go back to using the adjective "epic" to describe everything J0H0. You're out of your league here, Junior. Go blast Eminem or Dr. Dre as all the haters of your generation do.
I'm one of those rare specimens who enjoy a tad more depth than mindless lyrics exhibited by songs like "boom boom pow" and "i'm so glad", Rich Hartley Nineteen Thousand Six Hundred and Seventy One; songs that i can enjoy even when i don't have a doobie in my hand
@J0H0stetler Think about lyrics before you make statements. I'm so glad is a skip james song. Listen to what he says, then listen to Devil Got My Woman and you'll understand that I'm so glad is not written by cream...also Boom, boom, boom, boom. I gonna shoot you right down..knock you off your feet...take you home with me. And when I get you in the room...boom, boom, boom, boom. GOOD John Lee Hooker lyrics. Check the originals out.
@J0H0stetler I'm So Glad and other Cream songs were reknowned for the segues into improvisational techniques which are the hall marks of American Jazz and Blues which the Cream artists held in very high esteem and accomplished with great virtuosity. It is weird how British artists made America appreciate American Music
@J0H0stetler That's because your an asswipe & take it up the chute, what do U know about music, go listen to your Justin Bieber songs & lady ca ca, U douche!!!
This is music. It has rhythm and melody and unique lyrics created by skilled artists. Conversely today's tunes sound like computer generated repetitions of electronic sounds and what may be human voices.
To me this is the best kind of cover song. It keeps the spirit of the original without slavishly trying to copy everything. And the musicians use their own skills and creativity to add their own flavor. Plus... when this song came out the writing credit read, Skip James. Other bands of the era *cough* Led Zeppelin *cough* probably wouldn’t have been so honest and made sure Skip got paid.
If the young Skip James were around this would be a REAL pop song....before anyone knew what the artist looked like when they decided if the music is good.
@RootUnique Don't be sad, just listen to what you want to.You can't change todays garbage.Just go on amazon and buy the music of the bands you like.NOW sucks, lets face it.Build your own music library.peace.
@therealnotpalc I read a Guitar Player interview of Jack Bruce recounting Eric's use of one string was also used to awesome effect for the intro to White Room which was,get this, inspired by Puccini .
These guys actually played my suburban high school, believe it or not. I don't even think they knew where they were. The show was as good as anything on their live albums, anything they'd play in NYC or Boston and London. I was in awe.
well this song was recorded in 1966, although its just a cover a skip james song from the 1930's
so yea, this is neither 70's nor 80's rock, if those are the only two decades of which you like your music from, then obviously this would be your thing
There are many wild ,longer live versions of this classic Cream track, I always go back to this 1st cut on the studio debut album. . Jerry Garcia. Johnny Marr, mick Taylor..Jimmy Hendrix .I love them all........But nothing beats this , spare ,simple Eric Clapton solo.. The genius is in the timing and driving confident finale which builds and comes to a clean finish ..then a pause before the final sung verse....less is more !
@Ledzep69Man, Cream released their version of this song in 1966 on their depute album Fresh Cream... Deep Purple coved the song in 1968.... It was originally recorded by Skip James in the early 1930s.
@AgentCarter I already have been notified of that. Anyway it doesn't concern me. Because I am a fan of the remakes by Cream and Deep Purple. Most of the time remakes are not so well but in this case they are very interesting. I think Deep Purple did a nice job though

well this song was recorded in 1966, although its just a cover a skip james song from the 1930's
so yea, this is neither 70's nor 80's rock, if those are the only two decades of which you like your music from, then obviously this would be your thing

Such A Nice Cover Of Deep Purple. Eric Clapton is sheer genius.

@Ledzep69Man, Cream released their version of this song in 1966 on their depute album Fresh Cream... Deep Purple coved the song in 1968.... It was originally recorded by Skip James in the early 1930s.

actually skip james first recorded this song in 1931, then deep purple covered it 30 years later

@AgentCarter I already have been notified of that. Anyway it doesn't concern me. Because I am a fan of the remakes by Cream and Deep Purple. Most of the time remakes are not so well but in this case they are very interesting. I think Deep Purple did a nice job though

well maybe if you looked into it you could be a skip james fan too, obviously the members of deep purple and cream were

@AgentCarter That is so otherwise they would have not done a remake of the song.
I saw the videos and he is a quite great musician.
