  • love that descending bass line/waltz tempo.....

  • This was actually the first song on Village Green that grabbed me--that part at 30 seconds. Amazing range fora melody and then the waltz, Ha!

  • the organ is sublime

  • Their has always been great music and bad music. The Kinks are great although some stuff from their era is fucking awful shit. Some stuff now is fucking awful shit. Music will always continue to be a varied beast. Can I get an amen?

  • when iv had a smoke, my ears get the munchies for this mad tune. its more-ish edible audio at its best.

  • the best skipping song ever! hop scotch anyone? :))

  • This song makes me bob back and forth without even realizing it.

  • **generic "my generation sucks but i'm cool because i listen to this music" post**

  • Excuse me. I am a teenager and The Kinks are my favourite band. I don't believe bad musical taste is determined by age...

  • @gilliebean05 Kids like yourself give me hope for the future.

  • Definitely one of the worst songs on the album, but still a solid song.

  • @beezaxe take it back!!!! right now. :))

  • @beezaxe Hmm... everyone seems to have different favorite and least favorite songs on the album. Maybe that's why it's so special, it seems personal on a different level to everyone who listens to it.

  • ...that one on extreme right with the lumpy hair spoils all the photos.....

  • 1000 Times more closer to Life

    as the Beatles ever been

  • Brilliantly catchy song!

  • Daves trousers are just splendid. He is a real dedicated follower of fashion.

    See what i did there.

  • @whitestripebuzz

I know right? I can't decide if I want to wear them or get into them more XD.

  • @whitestripebuzz It takes a bad motherf*cker to wear those pants.

  • I think Emo Philips drew a lot of inspiration from this song in his stand-up.

  • I agree - what incredible wit...... brilliant !

  • i love the old school songs. im 13 an i love all this music especially post punk

  • you mean pos is after and i dont think you meant that, but before, am i right?

  • This song is so true - another example of Rays sheer wit and genius.

Its telling of how friends mess you around and how people who you think are friends turn out to be assholes. This happens to all of us all the time. I love Ray's sense of reality its so cutting edge. A genius by far!

  • 'i wore a mustache and I parted my hair,

And gave the impression that I did not care,

But oh, the embarrassment, oh, the dispair.'

    brilliant!

  • i'm sorry, but nothing ever will be better than the kinks.

  • ray's lyrical genius was one of the greatest things about the 60's along with the stones instrumental genius.

  • my favorite song

  • The reason why modern teens have shit taste is because they only want to hear music that makes them feel like they are cool (heavy guitars, screaming). But anyone can buy a distortion pedal. Anyone can scream. If you cant see whats ironic and hip about the kinks than you will never see whats hip about anything and you will spend your entire life chasing ego based trends, never gaining any actual skill except for how to move with the times. But nature likes dumb youth, thats how it designed them.

  • true but teens like to follow the mainstream(MTV) but not all teens are like that. mostly preps the sandals and jeans people follow the mainstream. some kids including real skateboarders not little kids that havent matured enough to know music actually listen to good music. like this song was on skate video. we search for the nonmainstream or just plain good music. like indie. and everyone knows skaters are the opposite of the sandals and jeans people.

  • i know i'm sure not like that.

    classic rock all the way!

  • I don't think it's the teens' fault, it's the industry's fault. I'm sure that shit would have been just as popular back in the 60s if that's what the industry was putting out.

  • @GoodGoodFriend

I think the true purpose of music is to let others enjoy what they want, all that matters is your enjoying what you enjoy.

  • @GoodGoodFriend

    I agree

  • @GoodGoodFriend I have no fucking clue what you're trying to say, but VGPS is a good album.

  • @GoodGoodFriend A few last glasses of Gin .

A well thought out post , enjoyed reading it .

Not every thing on the inter Web needs to be mindless.

    Peace Befall You , GGF-Man .

    Regards ,

  • @GoodGoodFriend I somewhat agree with you. Guitars aren't too popular anymore, except in the indie scene.

  • @GoodGoodFriend I are think Kinks bad

  • @GoodGoodFriend

im 16 and love the kinks so uh......suck it

  • This song is phenomenal, has always been, and will always be.

"But oh the embarrassment, oh the despair!" Classic.

  • i played this song for my friends who are teenagers like me they didnt like it.but i love it.their loss.they are too stupid to appreciate great groups like the kinks and the beatles and the group love.

  • jayfey77 you're clearly a very cool teenager and will be cool your whole life (tho you may always notice some people scratching their heads wondering why you like the stuff you like, but rest assured you've got great taste)

  • have you heard the group love and their cd forever changes?its from 67.yeah i feel alone like a black sheep among my friends and everybody pretty much at school.

  • Great band--Forever Changes was Jim Morrison's favorite album. Hope black sheep is tongue in cheek b/c it's not a bad thing. Lots of us are around, always have been, w/different appreciation for life and love of beauty. If you choose to, blend in (I usually do). But know kindred spirits, like minds, friendly faces abound, sometimes unexpectedly, a really old person, a little kid, someone whose language you don't speak. You'll turn people onto stuff they wouldn't know otherwise&enrich their lives.

  • nah ive already tried to turn people on to what i like it doesnt work.and i dont wanna blend in and like crap like fall out boy or 30 seconds to mars like most people listen to at my school.

  • well

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

  • UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • CK YOU

This song is one of my favorite Kinks songs.

  • Pull your head out of your ass. This song is amazing.

  • i've always liked the kinks .. never bought albums though .. actually, never really bought many albums at all ... kinks have some strange songs ... don't sound bad ... but would never buy a song like this.

  • the songs this man wrote -so much melody/melodies in 2 1/2 minutes or less!!

this album may have had 14 or so songs but with all the melodies within each song, it semmed like 50 songs-and all great!

  • yes i love the kinks so much. this song is amazing. :-)
