  • When the whistle blew, you had 6 seconds to make up your mind as to whether you climbed up them ladders or not.

If you just stood there, the sergeant was ordered to put a bullet in your head, or else the sergeant-major would put a bullet in his.

  • there sure are some dumb people out there.....fake? These are all hardened warriors...knee deep in mud, rats and blood...youre an idiot if you think this is fake.

  • was'nt brave!? really? id still say its brave what they did. Also where did you get that bit of information? enemy at the gates, maybe? I hope your just kidding around because you just insulted brave men and their countries. also i think Russian did do what you say but idk how much. id like to know where you became so enlightened

  • "Nowhere have I seen such lions led by such lambs"

    - Anonymous German solider, WWI, commenting on the bravery of the British at The Somme, and the cowardice of their officers. Alexander the Great said something similar.

"I am never afraid of an army of Lions led into battle by a lamb. I fear more the army of Lamb led into battle by a Lion"

The German soldier wrote this, as WWI was a marking point in war. No longer did men have to be persuaded to fight. The soldier now did it on his own.

  • There is only 6 people left who fught in WorldWar I after ca 3 years no one are left.

  • They were all brave, most fought because they had to, they hated what they were doing

  • Thank you for a truly incredible and moving video. microsofteye amen to that; god bless all the men who fell during that war and the many widows, friends and orphans left behind

  • Many of the British films of WW1 were in fact acted on Salisbury plain, [sometimes of soldiers training]. The opening footage of an British attack is one, & most especially 1.13 chasing the Germans down a trench. Cameras too bulky in 1914 for real action footage, & it was considered improper to film men killing each other. Some are real though.

  • god bless the men of the allies during ww1

    .the british at the somme

    .the canadians at paschendale

    and the french at verdun

  • why not the germans at verdun as well

    the austrians with serbia

and russia and australians and the italy in the alps.
