I saw this film yesterday on TV and was terribly disappointed with the switch from the gorgeous Ashley Judd to the barely above average Mira Sorvino. I mean, both of of them are not facially nor bodily similar to Marilyn but Judd in on a beauty league similar to Marilyn Monroe, Mira Sorvinio does not, and the two Marilyn aren't even remotely similar.

She did have plastic surgery. Compare pictures of her as a 20 year old model to when she got the short, platinum hair and became a big star. She had chin work, plus a minor nose job. She was ALWAYS beautiful, but she DID have work done. There were people who knew her who corroborated the fact.

Mira Sorvino isn't suppose to look like Marilyn, she's suppose to look like Norma Jean (pre-Marilyn Monroe) and if you've seen early photos you'd realize that Norma Jean looked a lot different than she did as Marilyn. Also, bio films aren't suppose to be Saturday Night Live skits, the actors are suppose to capture the essence of the character (Anthony Hopkins as NIXON is a good example). Finally Mira Sorvino looked real cute in her nude scenes. So did Ashley Judd.

She looked like a different person as 'Marilyn' for the same reason every actress does--cosmetic styling completely transforms appearance. What bothers me about this film is that it breaks down Norma Jeane and Marilyn into two separate people, which is ridiculous. The only time she ever became another person was on-screen and in public; her personality and appearance evolved like everyone's does, yet this film seems to suggest internally she was forever a young woman in "Marilyn's" shoes.

I saw this film yesterday on TV and was terribly disappointed with the switch from the gorgeous Ashley Judd to the barely above average Mira Sorvino. I mean, both of of them are not facially nor bodily similar to Marilyn but Judd in on a beauty league similar to Marilyn Monroe, Mira Sorvinio does not, and the two Marilyn aren't even remotely similar.
