also u highlight everything there is!

    a very very god tutorial

    A++

  • Wow! Nice soothing voice! And you have that pace and delivery as well. I wish you could do tutorial on the newer Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10.

  • i liked 98se!!

  • Where is "part 2"?

  • you rock ,,,,i'm going to try this,,when microsoft stops suporting xp all the way like they did 98se

  • screw morgan freeman... i think he should have been the voiceover for march of the penguins... or something from animal planet

  • when planning to install 2 different OS in a system. for example a windows platform and ubuntu 6.0, which OS will i install first? is it the linux or the windows?

  • haha... idiot...

  • nice fun guide... btw u have an awesome voice you should have a job in radio shows

  • Just got the CD and wanted to install on laptop .. my only hesitation is that I still want/need to play World of Warcraft .... you guys have any thought on how I can get it to run on the new ubuntu platform?

  • Thx to people like you for taking their time to explain things to people like me..Has to be said!

You're the Bob Ross of Linux..lol

  • hmm do you know if linux will work on a fijitsu siemens amilo li 1705?? ive ordered the disc but i dont know if it will work :S

  • how do you get the CD for the ubuntu?

  • You can download it from a torrent tracker(I think this is the best option) like mininova or through official Ubuntu site and burn it on CD, or you can order to ship you a free CD through official Ubuntu site.

  • Thanks

  • can i still play warcraft with it?

  • Warcraft 3 works on Ubuntu through wine. Wine is the compatibility layer program for unix(also Ubuntu) like operating systems. Look for winehq.

First install wine(video shows how). Then install warcraft normally.

  • is it true i loose fps?

  • I haven't tried it yet, but the fact is that applications that run with wine are usually slower that on native OS. But you gain nothing above 35 fps in most games. And considering that wc3 is not a new game there shouldn't be a problem. Go to winehq and check it out. As far as I have seen it works fine under OpenGl.

  • can i play steam games through that? and can i run xfire?

  • My friend played counter strike and half life through steam on Ubuntu. But I don't know if the latest titles work.

  • were did u download the executable ubuntu? i can get the bootable 1 but not the executable 1

  • It is all run from the LiveCD. The installation is executed using the liveCD.

  • I have a creative computer name. How about: T3h H4x0r b0X? LOL.

  • how do you install ubuntu on a pre-made partition... example: ive made 4x 35gb partitions from my 150gb raptor... i have xp installed on c: and vista installed on d:, how do i install it on e:?

  • Run the live cd. Then start the installation, once you have entered the language options etc you will be shown all the partitions on your hard drive. Select the partition you wish to install Ubuntu and continue.

  • nice but what can linux do PM me

  • visit ubuntu(dot)com for full details

  • Thx Alot

  • I've been planning on getting a second hard drive to install ubuntu, will it allow me to choose which hard drive I want to install it on? Because one of the Hard drives will be reserved for Windows XP.

  • yes you will be able to select another partition, but you will need to manually play about with the masterboot record because it is on a seperate hard disk.

  • Excellent vid, Was great help.

Please make a vid on how to install beryl on ubuntu!

  • thnx

o btw u sound like jack nicholsan lolz

  • Tryed to install ubuntu 7.04 on my Mac using B.C. Everything went well until I tried to partion my hard drive. I had already done this with bc for ubuntu (5GBs or so). It said that there was no root file found for any of the areas that I choose. I would have use the default option of cleaning the entire harddrive, but I really wanted to be able to dual boot besides, never used linuxs before.

  • Oh, I just realized that I didn't need to use bootcamp to partiton my hard drive, since ubuntu would do it for me anyway. After re-partitioning the HD, it still worked fine, but I am continually running into the error message about a root file missing. If anyone has an idea of what I'm forgetting, please let me know.

  • You can ignore my question by this point. Through dumb luck, I stumbled apon a way to get it running. The partition is a tad small, only about 5 or 6 gigs, but assuming that you'll cover on how to expand the partition in your later video's I don't have any immediate questions.

  • This is my name, you use your name, please :cDDDDDDDD

  • how do u do it without getting the cd? i downloaded it directly to my hard drive (after waiting for download complete for literally a whole day), but its like all distorted, and each file has to be opened seperately, in other words, its the same as putting a pc-only-cd in a mac. Can anyone help me fix this distorted-file-only problem?

  • You cannot install it in this manner, simply download the ISO File and burn it to disc or order it from Ubuntu. Otherwise you will be complicating the installation.

  • easy iso burner i used is ,isoburn, very easy. very easy. i cannot even explain how easy it is :P

  • Wheres that other video to dual boot manually? Or whatever you call it?

  • The video will be uploaded in a few weeks. It will be made available in two parts because Youtube only allows 10 min vids only.

  • i installed ubuntu on my other computer but i cant access internet, what should i di?

  • How do you connect to the internet? Is it e.g. a USB modem, an Ethernet modem/router or a wireless modem/router?

  • i think its ethernet, it says that on my xp on that computer b4

  • Well, all you need to do is go to your system settings in Ubuntu and set up your Ethernet connection.

  • theres a place where you can choose the connection and i tried every thing including ethernet and it doesn't work, what should i do? and also, do you know how to install beryl or run it? rsvp

  • Thahks Alot for the video your have such a clear voice and nice background music.

i spend two days and two nite sleepless to install ubunbu but somehow it failed..at last i successed but when it comes to restart i got the error "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND"

so i am now downloading it again and thinking might be the problem is in the file that i have downloaded..

  • try ordering the CD from the website. It is free but it takes a few weeks to arrive.

  • Ok if I install this program, and dont like it can I uninstall it (cuz I have vista and it was really expensive). Then if I do unInstall it will it earasse all my stuff? Would it be possible to have it just for 1 user on my comp so I could switch between the systems? Plz let me know.

  • What you can do is Install Virtual PC 2007 on Vista and Install Ubuntu on it. You can mess about with the operating system, without losing Vista. Or you can Dual Boot

  • Oh wait! That's my name! Use your name, please.

Rofl. Nice voice. Thanks for the video.

  • it wont load

  • does it start up at all for you, or does it crash? what are your hardware specs?

  • my install box where i need to select language

  • you can select language once the program has loaded and during the installation process

  • Where do you download the linux from? Ubuntu(dot)com? And then burn it on to a disc and boot from the disc?

  • Yeah. If you don't have a burner you can also order free cd's from shipit, but they take about a month or so to arrive.

  • You could easily get work as a voice over actor.

  • It's "Roblimo" he's already pulling 6 figures without doing voice parts ;)

  • JAjajajaja... if you want to install ubuntu or any distro on your hard drive with windows already installed just download vmware

  • bravo

  • I didn't know Jack Nicholson was into linux

  • Awesome voiceover :)

  • I look forward to your partitioning video

  • hahaha you are awesome :D

  • thnx
