Its not just about power.

Its about speed,accauracy.height,timing etc.

All of these make a Brilliant striker. Most people can only master a few. I'm only for timing. I can't hit it hard and mainly sneak it past, I tend to be obvious but hey.

So yes it does take brains, and if it didn't then world class strikers would never miss would they? But they do, because of the goalkeepers or other factors.

I call it the "cannon fire" .. kick like you're indicating but stirke with the outside of the foot - to the right of the laces .. arms shouldnt be swinging .. it's all in the knee. The ball actually compresses (thanks to it's inertia) and then expands elastically and comes booming off your foot - highest achievable velocity. Deform the ball as you drive into it with the outside of your foot. Of course don't boot yourself and don't boot the ground. Smooth effortless hi velocity - give'er.
