the legend TONY G. i know Tony and he is a very cool cat it's been over 25 years since we kicked it at The Casa Camino Real recording those secret reel to reel tapes for the LIVE Friday night mix show well he still has it people don't take our old age for granted we still can cut you in half... lol... always remember why Hip Hop lives KDAY 1580AM find all the Mix Master's on Sickam & MySpace peace...
also search on Datpiff for KDAY and download our mix's addin more...
Funny thing about this is that the people who's hating doesn't know, that he's really left handed. meaning if he was a skater his position would be goofy footed. He's ambidextrous and is a BEAST when he cuts with his left. -Just Sayin
I used to listen to these guys all the time. Brings back memories both good and bad. Stupid Pioneer turntable with auto return tonearm and my Radioshack Realistic mixer. Thank you for uploading this, its nice to see Tony G can still hit the Twelves
haha, you can't hate on T G...I remember the old dayz...radiotron, world on wheels! But my inspiration was D.j Alladin and Joe cooley...they were untouchable back in those dayz
@ Bucktheusa You wernt the only one recording!..I was doing the Dew also!..I have 2 boxes loaded with all the Friday night mix! They are my GEMS of music Time Capsules!Give you props for doing the same.Remember how We tryed adjusting the antenae trying to iliminate the feed back from the spanish station interfernce next to 1580
Wow, The lost art of the DJ. You don't see anyone scratching like that now. I just showed my 15 yr old son the video and he was amazed. He had never heard scratching like that. Keep on cutting it up, Tony G!
My brother and I were tapers back in summer '84 to 85 and probably have 20hrs of Friday night mixmaster's featuring all the OG's that eventually broke into the biz including shout outs and "world of curls" commercials.
To my knowledge I am the only person with such a collection. Used to tape it so we'd have dope tracks to break to...as in breakin'...swipes, footwork, backspins, windmills, uprock, ghost walk, helicopter, pop-lockin, I'm a white boy and I can still call you out!
Tony G IS a legend, much like Joe Cooley, M-Walk, Greg Mack and the Mack attack and all the old KDAY mixmasters. I know, I was there.
There is no denying that. They laid the ground work. But.. compare the new generation to the old boys and we have alot to learn. It has advanced immensely. There is alot more to it now than just scratching. That was my point. No disrespect to a legend. And yes, I CAN fucking do that and it IS easy!. for me.
@djwkusa I dont know how old you are,I hope u are young.I grew up on the kday show and have been playing since 27 years. You give credit then you take it back. There's something that I noticed about old school djs and new bootys(10 years or less) old school djs were very competitive but I think newer djs bring a certain "hate" to the game,it may be gangsta rapp or just the streets have changed. The OG DJs had followings cause they were fun, they didn't let ego's get in the way of liking all djs
I see the Beca Boyz in the back, i use to listen to their wake that azz up mix every morning. Too bad POWER106Fm (L.A.) is not what it use to be especially before it was hiphop in the late 80's
1580am k-day..saturday night mix show,,dj m-walk kick in my base.tony g soo good oh ya.K-DAY played everything from GUY to KING T..true hip hop station..
once a k-day mix master always a mix master..i miss 1580am..saturday night mix show legend shit..dj m-walk kick in my base.tony g soo good oh ya..dj aladin..k-day played everything from GUY to KING T..true hip hop show..
Check out Tony G. Officially 100 years old still cuttin' it up 80's style. Props to the guy, but he needs to ease up a bit, check sounds distorted after awhile and he seems to be decaying.
wow you can tell the years sure have taken their toll on Mr.Tony G...but he still has it. He makes its look so easy like he is not even trying and that there is true talent. That's why he is a living legend.
K-DAY...That was a killer radio show back in the day...Baka Boyz also were pretty good too with Power 106 back in the early 90's...They put out some pretty good mixxes too...
Tony G on the wheels of steel! man i dont know how many times i use to stay up late at night recording every mixmaster show on the weekend then replaying trying to imitate tonys cut techniques, oh yea i also use to record every high energy show live from the casa camino real, i have lot of tapes at my parents house somewhere stashed up still. TONY G is a Legend
Another example of typical Cali West Coast HATERS...No love and respect for the OG's like it used to be?? Put the OLD HORSE out to pasture??? That is as stupid as it gets..Dj Tony G is and always will be a pioneer in the mixxing and scratching game... Biting from Santa Fe Springs??? The only good thing coming out of that town is the Holiday biotch!!! SO UNLESS YOUR A BIG TITTIE STRIPPER FROM THAT CLUB SHUT YO MOUTH..IF IT AINT LA CITY IT AINT SHIT AND YOU KNOW THAT SO QUIT FRONTING...
Funny How This Old Skool Dude on the turntables will tear some young shit up!!!! On the real turntables not the fake ass CD or MP3's The real shit!!! Pay attention young foo's class is in session..You may learn a lil something..
This is a perfect example of when to put the old horse out to pasture, Those Dj's who set the trend came Outta The Springs and have passed the tourch, "Sloppy as shit"
Use to listen to dude back in the 80's rippin' it on KDAY and now after 20 years I finally get to see him in action STILL KILLIN' IT! And that's word to YOU TUBE!
Damn! This is what a master @ work looks and sounds like! 1 of the greatest DJs of all time! Period! A true samurai of the DJ art form. Whomever posted this video, thank you!
