this story touched home to me. 5 years ago my uncle passed away from the same problem after running in a memorial race. the similarities between their stories is somewhat scary. they were both athletes, both the one at school that everyone liked, and both didnt deserve to die such a young death. fortunately, we made some good out of it and now hold a baseball tournament in his honor. it is now the biggest in the united states. tragic story. r.i.p. wes & uncle grant :(

They would have to do different heart specific tests most likely, to have noticed that his heart was enlarged. However, if it was hereditary then it at least should have been looked into in his earlier years.
