I Have the game and even though its hard as hell, i enjoy playing it very much. Thanks for the review, I Didnt know that the sweater worked better on the females until i watched this, But it makes sense.

I like your review, while I can't say I "love" this game, your review really does set the facts straight, I'll give it credit, probably the best of LJN's games. Also, wouldn't the pitchfork be the best weapon? It doesn't arc and it pierces enemies (Like the plasma beam in Metroid).

I still agree with Nerd that this game SUCKS.

I played it as a kid when it was new and it SUCKED then and still sucks and yes I do own it complete in box (box is really beat up though)

I have been through some of the toughest games in existance.

I am willing to bet you can't Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Ghost n Goblins, Battletoads,Ninja Gaiden trilogy, Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) on Master Ninja mode,Demon Souls among others.

So don't tell mean I haven't finished difficult games.

Doesn't change the fact that THIS GAME FUCKING SUCKED.

Everything was going good, until "let the bodies hit the floor" came on. Most over used songs on youtube, not to mention corny cheesy and lame songs ever written. I would rather listen to the crappy Friday the 13th nsf.

One more thing...

I think Jason's mom gives you the next weapon up on day one. I remember reading how someone got an axe in there by getting the machete first.

Could be helpful, because you could (in theory) go in there with an axe and end up with a second torch or pitchfork (whatever's considered better I guess)

Your character is a cross between two people I used to know, but what I really want to mention is this: I never bought the game, so I haven't seen the original documentation it came with. There's a lot of information here that isn't self explanatory, and it's safe to say there was probably a walkthrough in some Nintendo Power magazine. Notice Jason reading those printed sheets of paper?

Great review, but there's little chance people just picking this up in the store would have figured it out.

The instruction manual gives you an overview of the game, a list of the enemies and items and that you can fight ms voorhees head. I remember it being a really good manual that really explains alot.

Weird thing happened to me...

The sweater is supposed to keep Jason away from the councilor wearing it (if they're female and not active)

But when I played the other day and got it, Jason attacked that councilor 4 times in a row.

...The joke's on him though, she was also carrying the pitchfork.

I've seen that happen myself. Makes me wonder if the sweater is in the game as a movie novelty only. According to the original instruction manual it is supposed to stop Jason from attacking, but he doesn't seem to care sometimes.

And after encountering a counselor carrying the pitchfork four times in a row, you'd think he'd learn something. I guess he really is fearless.

See, I loved this game growing up. Granted, I was 5 and used a game genie to beat it, but it was still a lot of fun. It was the first 'survival horror' game I've ever played and it still makes me jump sometimes. Not so much out of fear, but more so out of 'where the hell'd he come from?!' kinda thing. Thanks so much for showing the game wasn't all that bad. :)

hello... there is a reason the music is like that, if you listen to the music, you hear the chime of kill... mom... it is annoying i admit but it is what they say, other than that, once you have the torch and medicine to spare, if you fight jason outside, you can kill him fairly quickly, then go the same way jason runs when you are able to move again, he will attack again... mostlikely, sometimes he is in a cabin, in which you can enter then exit enableing him to fight outside agian

thanks for the review, man! game informer also ripped into this game, saying it was "impossible to beat"...but after I saw the game in action in AVGN's review, I thought it couldn't be all that bad...then I saw your review, and I might actually consider getting it! Is the game scary in any way?

Actually, this is still one of the few games that still causes me to jump once in a while. Jason has a way of popping up out of nowhere (especially inside cabins) and it scared the crap out of me as a kid. Even now if I'm playing with the sound up and not paying particular attention, it'll get me now and then. But it's a cool game, especially if you're a Friday fan. Definitely check it out.
