@MrWwefan15 I take nothing away from those performers, I've actually been lucky enough to train in a ring with red and the maximos here on the east coast. I was referring to the mentality of cruiser performers back in the day your job was to make your opponent look good, and carrying some one was the sign of a real pro. now everyone is out for them selves and things don't "pop" as much as they used to because of it. I love the business and respect everyone who puts their body on the line for it.

When they signed him in 2002 they dropped the 'Jr.' because Vince hates that term - since he grew up as Vince Jr. obviously. They also changed the spelling from 'Misterio' (correct in Spanish) to 'Mysterio' which is correct in English.

Rey Misterio Sr. is Rey's uncle whom he took the name from in 1992.

What i never understood.

Why did rey got so popular.

He is a hell of a Wrestler and i think there have been better high flyers, but he always was the most famous.

Dont get me wrong he is the reason why i watch wrestling and wrestle myself, but he was never the best in what he does.

It may have been that he knew how to transition better then Juventud and Psicosis to American Wrestling thanks to Dean Malenko(Knowing how to work the crowd, knowing when and where to use high spots, etc.)

i know all the injuries had taken a lot of his quickness and all, but he`s still a very good wrestler, in fact when i saw him perform with evan bourne or even chris jericho, he can display more of his habilities, do all the aerial stuff and all that, so i think he`s got great potential, but he has nobody to perform that type of matches, like the ones with psicosis, chavo guerero, eddie guerrero, etc.

Rey isn't allowed to be entertaining anymore because WWE won't let anyone do anything entertaining except maybe once or twice a year. Matches are just filler in between the "entertaining" antics of Hornswoggle, the uselessness of the Divas, and Vince's ass doing tricks. I'm sure Rey could do everything he used to do if he worked for a company that actually cares about it's fans.

Rey is better than he shows and if he ever gets the chance to escape Vince's horrible product you'll see it. Why? A) Rey will shrink to a size that allows him to do more & B) He'll have better competition to work with. Oh and ... C) He'll be allowed to go nuts and do stuff he wants to do instead of stuff scripted for him where he has to get certain spots okayed by retired wrestlers who hate high flyers.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. Rey is well past his prime, for one thing, and even if he did shrink down to his pre-WWE size, that would take a toll as well.

I've seen his recent work, even the spots the WWE allows him to do look sloppy in comparison to how he used to pull them off. That may have a bit to do with his bulking up, but also I bet that if you took an X-ray of Rey's knees right now there'd be more bones floating around freely in there than Paris Hilton's vagina.

Rey is still good when he is booked against the right person but for some reason WWE decides to book him against talentless giants to make him look like the ultimate underdog. His matches against these giants are awful.

His match at Armageddon against CM Punk was a show stealer, his performance in the elimination chamber at No Way out was phenomenal, and his feud with Jericho on smack down is the most entertaining thing in the wwe.
