But even if he wasnt a serial killler he was still a killer and what he did was preety bad, and grave robbing IS illegal.

The fictional character of Leatherface is BASED on Ed Gein. Obviously they added numerous things to the character. The one main the two have in common is the wearing the skin of the dead. Norman Bates from Psycho as well as Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs were also based on Ed Gein.
