  • @jumptrainee1 nice vid!

my patella pains come and go, they just came back a few days ago

im scared to jump at the moment, is there any other advice you can give

on how to deal with jumpers knee?

  • @1994ZBO I have a whole page on it with more videos on my site. check it out. my email is on there too

  • @jumptrainee1 okay thanks i'll check them out :) its really annoying at the moment

i cant play as hard as i want to

  • Nice try.. the shift to you blog was too quick. It doesn't hurt to give more ..

  • @rafaelazulay actually I have two more videos on the topic and another one coming. They all fit well into the article on my site where I share everything I know on the topic. So nice try to you

  • @rafaelazulay also at the time this was uploaded I had no reason to want people to go to my site other than giving them information. some stuff is shared more effectively in writing rather than rambling on in a video. check people out before calling them out

  • I've had this since I was in middle school. Titanium knee here I come.

  • leg extensions

  • i was doing that for 6 months and now i see results i can dunk

  • i have been jumping a lot last time and my knee's hurt. so i thought i might had this problem but how can i be sure?

  • Thanks Bro

  • nice vid.... hope i can also dunk now ....: > )

  • Thank God ! I love you man !

  • wow not even one dislike

  • i had to freakin have surgery cuz i had this shit so bad

  • Can anyone give advice about a tracking issue that is focused on the top anterior area of the patella?

  • Please help my I play football and got tendonitis. I can't find the blog. Really need to know the exercises to get rid of tendinitis. Please help! @jumptrainee1

  • @ThaKidCodie watch the end of the video for the website. it pops up on top of the old blog address

  • @jumptrainee1 I still have it (tendonitis) :/ I've read the blog done the excersises and had it for almost two months now.

Does it ever go away ?

  • thanks for sharing some damn knowledge haha

  • You'r a genius!! I saw the other exersize and the stretches and It helped me! I ice and take advil after im done hooping and the pains so little now. Ive been dong it for 2 weeks now. I just had to give a special thanks, now I might make varsity

  • @vccccc15 awesome story! thanks for sharing

  • @jumptrainee1 i got jumpers knee last month, i can do the squats you are doing with slight pain, but i am doing 4 sets of calve raises 25 a set, then i do 2 sets of seated leg raises like you do, but i do 50 a set, then i do 2 sets of the squats you do, 50 reps a set, i try to do them every day for the past week, is this good or should i be doing more? pls help. and do i have to take advil or some pain killer tablet like other people say they have been doing

  • @deadmanlyndon that's a start. each case is individual tho, so I can't say if you'll have to do more or not. you should go to my site and read my page on jumper's knee. I have much more info on there with more videos. as far as pain killers, that's up to you. it has no affect on the knee at all, just blocks the pain from being sensed by your brain

  • subscribed thanks a lot man, needed something like this i can't afford to miss games at state level

  • great explaining, athletes can benefit so much from just learning human anatomy.. very solid rehab/prehab combo that can be done anywhere

  • whats your height

  • Hey man I had a few questions, im a basketball player and I've had jumpers knee for a little over a year, I was wondering how often I should do the workouts in your video and how many sets and reps I should do, and how long should I rest my knee, I wear those knee band things and athletic tape but those dont really do much.for me

  • @jwilliams024 go to my site. I have a whole page on jumper's knee

  • hey bro how tall are you?

  • hey thanks a ton for your advice im 14 and had jumpers knee for a year. Now im doing the excersices you showed and its getting better and better everyday. Thanks again man

  • hey i was wondering how often should i do these exercises? and how many sets per day

  • hey bro ima dunker that suffers from this stupid injury. It always comes after im done hoopin or dunking and its annoying... i was wondering do u do those exercises and rest/ice or u were still hoopin in the process of healing it???

    thanks

  • @kidflys11 I kept hoopin which makes the proces take longer. I have a whole page on jumper's knee on my site with some other exercises and stuff. it will help you

  • man i had jumpers knee for 2 years, very fustrating injury. but ive been doing these workouts for a month and now im back dunking and even jumping higher than b4 no pain. thanks.

  • @ucytgutta awesome. thanks for sharing

  • @ucytgutta specific amount of reps of each exercise?

  • @bitneosh i did each exercise for 30 reps, 4 sets each. it depends on ur body. at 30 reps my legs were really burning.

  • @ucytgutta how many reps and sest r u doin ?

  • hey im about 6'2 and 163, not very big, and i was wondering how i can improve my last few steps, the pendunum step or something... idk but i know that i look very awkward while trying to jump off of two feet when it feels like im doing it perfectly fine, can u help me out? oh and im white and lanky so it probly explins the awkward part.

  • hey man! thx a lot! im 14 and i had jumpers knee for 2 months, i cured it thanks to you :D

  • @Luraj7 great to hear man

  • Looks good im going to start doing these exercises now. How many reps would your recommend for each exercise?

  • jumpers knee is so mean.i hate it

  • Do you wait till' the pain is gone to start doing this or even if you still feel pain?

  • @airsoftmaster22 I have the same thing. if the pain is really bad, use ice and wait until it's better. don't do anything that increases the pain. do stretches on the hamstrings as that will help relief a bit of stress to the knee. And if you do squats, you have to be able to see the tip of your toes as you do them. If your knee gets over your toes, you're putting too much stress on it and it may hurt.

  • Thanks a lot for the info. I've had a knee problem since last August. I started doing your exercises about 2 weeks ago and the pain is almost gone. Now, my knee had been getting better but I couldn't push off of it with any explosiveness now I can. Again thank you and keep up the good work.

  • how many reps

  • how tall are you

  • does this help out all in preventing hyperextension in the knee?

  • HOW LONG DID YOU HAVE THIS FOR..... WAS IT HEALED FAST ???

  • :33 holy crap

  • Thanks bro. Exactly what I was looking for here on YouTube. Short, concise, informative.

  • how long did it take for you to heal your knee

  • shit..... done ......shit..... done

  • Take (MOVE FREE) over the counter pills with (msm). I had knee pains in the past an NEVER looked back! Took about 2-3 weeks for the pain to completely go away

  • how many reps and sets ?? and how much time does it take for the pain to go away ??

  • what if the pain is above the knee. like from the quad to my knee cap. it hurts me when i jump. what do u think?

  • wow that dunk was like a mirrored version of vince carters 360 dunk.... he did it left handed reverse!

  • Will these exercises help if you have Osgood shlater disease o will it make it worse

  • wow. I lost a month of training this summer due to patellar tendonitis. I wish I would have seen this sooner. This should help.

  • wouldnt that hurt my knee if i did the squats? please answer back because i do competitive cheerleading and i have a cheer competition next weeekend and my knees hurt terribly on my patellar tendon....:'( PLEASEEE answer! i have had this for 2 years!

  • Hello buddy, I have been doing these exercises for sometime and has helped my knee significantly. But, I was wondering if there are any exercises for ankles. Most of the time my ankles are cracking and feel weak. I don't know if this is from playing to much basketball or they are just messed up from spraining my ankle excessively in the past. If you had any tips or advice I would greatly appreciate it.

  • i have had pattela tendonitus for 3 years ...it can be aweful sometimes i used to be able to dunk and stuff now i cant even lay up .. iv start to do more streches and have started to do the leg raises which help and are great but the body sqauts hurt my knees is there any other things you reccomend thanks luke

  • Is the jumper's knee is when you have something like bump under or besides the patella?

  • @uqo2 yea its called osgood schlatter ive had it for like 5 years, there are knee braces made to help relieve the pain and they work perfect.

  • @amoney101295 but its just under the knee cap, osgood schlatter is even lover. It's not a bump maybe more like swell

  • @uqo2 oh shit then i have no idea wat it is. tendonitis? or is that still lower? im not sure

  • How many body squats should i do a day for it to be effective?

  • hey im 13 and i skateboard ive been skating for a year and had pateller tendinitist for about 4 months bcuz of a kickflip off a 5 stair, its been helping a lot i really owe u one, but wat are ur suggestions on reps?

  • im 13 i ride bmx its with bikess and stuff i tride a trick about last year and i hurt the tendon or whatever and i still get baddd pain to this day any suggestion that would help plzzz

  • what are the sets and reps for those?

  • omfg yoooo thanks so much u dont knoe how much help this was. i juss decided to try out both excericez especially the 2nd one and i dont even feel my knee pain anymore. this is a miracle becuase after watching this i didnt think it can work because i tried other things too but wen i tried it i can finally jump without any knee pain

  • @free789123 for how long did u do the exercises?

  • ok someone ans my question,is this to be done only if u have a knee problem or can it also be used as a benefit exercise?

  • @firzenfrenzy well body squats are a warmup exercise, so people do those all the time. the leg raises are really just for the specific situation I had, but they certainly wouldn't hurt anything

  • @jumptrainee1

thanks bro,i have no problems with my knees but dude,my left quadricep and calf are cramping up lately while playing, any suggestions bro???

im a single leg jumper btw

  • my knees seem out of line like it curves outwards at the bottem. i think that my be related to my jumpers knee. do u know how to cure that? thanks

  • Seated leg raises are not going to make a huge difference, they are very much a secondary exercise. The squats will make the biggest difference, and you will get even more success from doing them on a decline board. Finding a decline board is hard and I would suggest making one yourself

  • the second one is what my doctor said i should do, but i havent. now i think i should be doing it...

  • do i need to warm-up to do this and how because it hurts my knee when i run?

  • dude, you are awesome for putting these up. most people do it for money but urs is just as legit and is for free haha

  • I known about the importance of VMO strength, but I don't understand how the seated leg raise you perform is supposed to work the vastus medialis. Doesn't it just work the hip adductor muscles, and perhaps rectus femoris?

Great site, by the way. I have a knee problem, part of which is tendinopathy of the patellar tendon. Once I get through it I'll have a look at some of the training you suggest. My vertical was ~35 inches, but I am a short guy and I need 45 inches for volleyball :)

  • watch out, this could worsen your condition, check it out with a local physical therapist , if they are good like mine they will assess it and tell you whats wrong....

mine is due to hip weakness a calf weakness and tightness of the quad, this could worsen it if you have my condition, this will tighten your quad even more....

    please get it checked ou

  • does this really help and have you more exercises ????

  • Im not sure, but I think i have a mix of jumpers knee and Osgood-Schlatter. :S It makes it difficult to jump on some days which is a bitch.

  • Thanks man!

  • thank you im gonna try this exercises i hope my pain goes aways it's been killing me for months

  • So all i need to do is them 2 exercises to get rid of the pain in my knees?

  • hey thanks this should help me big time thanks again

  • dam u can see ur ribs and side abs, im jealous

  • Should I stop doing dunks for 2-3 months (but still practice my jump shot, and do layups..play pick-up ball), and do your 2 exercises/day until (hopefully) my damn patellar tendon gets better? Should I also take it easy on my weighted-legs exercices?

  • I am currently following a 4 day/week muscle -gain program, which includes 2 leg-day workouts (I do weighted box-squats..even though these kinda hurt my knees in the first sets (pain almost entirely goes away by the last sets)..super heavy dead-lifts, weighted lunges, etcs). I used to do dunks like the one in your video, but since my jumper's knee really started to kick in, I've only been able to do basic two-footed 1-2-handed dunks, which is a real shame....(see 3rd msg)

  • hey man, thanks for the exercises. I found that my knees only hurt when I'm actually playing basketball (&right after). My knees are usually mostly better by the next morning (with sufficient sleep), but they start aching again at work when I'm sitting down for long periods of time, or when I'm at the movie theaters in a cramped seat, etc. I was just wondering though, are the squats and leg raises better using nothing but your body weight, or should I maybe add weight to them? (see 2nd msg)

  • @SirPhil007 - The Movie Theater succccckksss big time for me too, gotta have the leg extended the whole movie

  • hi FROM SPAIN, I haVE PAIN RIGHT IN THE SIDE CUADRICEPS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE CAPSULE..., WHERE THE PATELA TENDON IS SO, IS THAT PATELLA TENDINITIS OR CUADRICEPS TENDINITIS OR MAY BE BOTH!!! ONCE YOU DEVELOP THIS INJURIE, YOU HAVE TO WORK THEM OUT FOR LIFE?

    THANKS AND NICE DUNK

  • Very good exercises to do in courts or home!Awesome!

  • Lovely dunk in the beginnig

  • I actually had this and I stopped working out as in stopped playing ball for like 3 weeks and thought it went away but I did not know that with sports injuries you don't cure them by not playing sports because they will not heal the way you want it to if you want to keep playing sports

  • patellar tendon not quadriceps tendon

  • nice dunk btw :)

  • wow i use to be able to dunk like that till i got jumpers knee =(, the pain is so aggravating now when i try to dunk it, it even costed me a spot on my college team, lets hope these exercises work for me

  • I've had patella tendonitis for about 5 years or so, but never really did any exercises just for it , i mean i have been doing regular weighted squats and some leg extensions normal leg workouts but not directed at my jumpers knee. I just aggravated my left knee real bad a week ago playin bball takin time off but im gonna try these body weight squats and leg raises to see if they help at all. I would probably punch myself tho if this cured my long lasting painful problem... lol

  • punch myself for not doing it earlier that is.

  • I have done some strenghtning excercies such as the one ur blogg, with my jumpers knee. I will try this for some weeks. How many reps should I do and how many times?

I was also wondering about what u think about air alert, if u have hear about it? I got jumpers knee cuz of it and I was wondering if I could start on it again after I had got ridd of my jumpers knee

  • i feel i do the leg raise wrong, i feel it on the inside of my knee but should i feel it in the hams too?

and i wanna do your program but its too confusing, be my friend on here and help me.

  • so how much should i squat be4 doing those? and what weight shoud start out with?

BTW EVERBODY, this video helps you do weighted squat as well if your from sucks, this will help you get 90% knee and butt match, and not have your knees over toe, really makes you use your hips. thanx alot !!!

  • Hey, I have had quadricep tendonitis, or pain where the quads connect to the patella, not under the patella. Would these exercises help improve my condition?

  • yeah it's still the same tendon. the patella is actually embedded within it. I had some of my pain up there too, and it went away with the other pain

  • Hey man thanks, your videos are very informative. I used the body weight squats and my knee pain already lessend in a day.

  • @JPMartin5 I have the same thing. Also doing a lot of stretching on the hamstrings helps to releif the pain. why? because tight hamstrings put a lot of stress on the quadriceps tendom. I recomend not to do massages on the quadriceps tendom because there is a bursa on top of it, as there is no such thing over the patella tendom.

  • ok thanks alot, so this mean what your doing here is bad from for wieghted squats, and i heaar that jump squats with weight is bad for the knee , is that true?

  • jump squats with weight do put a lot of stress on your knee, but if you're strong enough you will be able handle that stress. problems come when people who are beginner athletes try to do advanced training

  • can u give a number of sets.. like 6 each? of 10?

and so u can bend your back on those?

  • I would say 5-10 sets of 10 for both exercises. And yeah it's fine to bend your back on body squats, just not when you start adding weight.

  • Do you have specific amount of reps/sets that you used? I'm a sophmore on Varsity... but my knees are always sore, and it's jumpers knee. Get back at me please bro

  • i'm also a sophmore varsity ( i don't know if it's the same sport but...) i just want to know if he got back to you and if so, what did he say?

  • see above

  • I just did several sets of 10 of each every day. There not really things you have to recover form so just make a habit of it. there's an article about the exercises on my blog

  • hey Daniel. How long did it take you to recover from this? Did you play Bball beside theese exercises or you stoped it for while?....Anyway i gues you my carrier's savior .....:)

  • It took several months for it to go away entirely, I had 3-4 months of the season left after I first got it so it was hard to get rid of then. Once I could get more rest it was a lot easier.

  • lol ive had it since gr 7.... im 5 10 and im dunkin already ..but after i dunk ..then land..my knees are all stiff and cant bend

  • Man... my patellar tendonitis hurts like shit. How effective are the leg straps? I know continuing to play ball is a big NO NO, but I'm a dunker too... and its tough to stay off the court.

  • they do help, but in the end you always want your body to be strong enough on its own. straps can help you make it through playing, but they don't do anything for actual rehab of the tendon

  • i have jumpers knee i have rested for 3 months before and when i return to basketball it only takes a couple of months for the pain and loss of vert to return. do i need prolotherapy because i do work out calves and quads to relieve pressure on the patellar tendon and it still comes back.

  • Well i'm a handbal player and what worked for me with the body squats is 2 lift your toes while doing it 2 maintain a good form hope it helps

  • u got some pumped legs lol! very athletic

  • hey daniel are you sure this exercises really help your jumpers knee pain go away? because every sense i did these exercises my knee hurts so bad when every i sleep it hurts so bad and it was worse than before

  • yeah I'm sure. you might have a more serious problem than jumpers knee

  • hey daniel have u used any Patella straps or taping ?

  • I did use a strap back in high school. That will help you do things while you have the pain, but it doesn't help the condition improve really

  • would it be bad or would it improve??? if i use my 5 lbs ankle weights on both my legs while doing the sitted leg raises exercise

  • do you have to stretch before doing these exercises?

  • In this condition you really have to rest.

These exercises work ok, but use as little as possible. Why? These exercises put to much stress on the knees and will cause more inflamation. Only do this right before physical activity, or if you're condition is minor

  • im afraid i might be developing jumpers knee in my left leg, i only feel it when i jump off that leg only. do u think its cus im jumping on concrete? cus when i play indoors it doesnt rlly hurt and i also jump higher, ive been dunking a little off my 1 leg jumps as off this weekend.

  • I'm interested in your explanation on why these exercises work, but when I click on your blog link, I can't find the article. Can you please provide the article? Thanks. I myself am a high school student with patellar tendonitis.

  • im gonna try these excercises. they look pretty good. i do do the squats and they work well

  • Is it true that we have to stop training while using these exercises???

  • If you have jumper knee you got to stop playing it will get worst and worst trust me stop for like 2 or 3 m

  • I had to switch to 2 feet because of this. but i can still dunk off 1 foot

  • I do this exercise even though that i feel pain ... its okay ?i want already train basketball but i cant :( ... i hate jumpers knee ....

  • its ok as long as you are doing them right. yeah jumpers knee does suck

  • do these excersie work and how many reps a day

  • yeah if you listen to the video it says that they helped me get rid of all my knee pain. You can do several sets of 10 of each every day, they aren't real difficult or anything like you would have to recover from them

  • I can already dunk, but my jumpers knee hurts me so much, I cant dunk as much as I would like to. How many sets and reps should I do of these to get me right?

  • Comment removed

  • is the program with no equipment guaranteed to make me dunk before like august im about 6'4-6'5 can only hang on rim XD if so ill purchase it by 2morrow srry if i reposted it my computer is lagging

  • if you can already hang on the rim, I would expect you to be dunking very soon. If you don't see gains pretty quickly I also give you an email address, so you can let me know how it goes and we can make any necessary adjustments

  • alrighty cool i cant wait to be dunking :)

  • i have a question does it really matter what you eat if you want to get muscle and results. Im pretty skinny about like 140 pounds and my friends say im to skinny to gain any sort of muscle if i start working out i might be able to get a gym membership by mid july

  • too skinny to gain muscle? there's no such thing. You may not build muscle as easily as some people, but it's more likely that you've just grown really tall really fast, so your weight hasn't been able to keep up.

Yes, what you eat does matter. Muscle is built with protein, so you want to make sure to get a lot of that. Apart from that just try to eat healthy. Don't eat right before your workouts, but don't be hungry going into them either, and always eat and drink when you're done.

  • I think I'll write an article on nutrition now, thanks for the idea

  • hahah no problem lol

  • Daniel i have 2 questions um does your program have like not just the program for people with no equipment but like the ones you do recently in the gym. And like say you find like a new workout routine does it like update or something i duno just curious XD ty cya

  • It has mostly training for people with equipment. I don't put in just anything that I try in the gym, but I do plan on adding a phase here and there. I have only had the site up for a few weeks, and no one has been having trouble finding the right thing for them, so we will see

  • Daniel how long do u think it will take for me to dunk after i start your no equipment program? i really hope i can dunk before basketball season which is in like September

  • the weight is the only difference really. body squats are too light to help you unless you are an absolute beginner

  • oh so the squats that actually help u increase your vertical are the ones where ur using weights? cause if so i have no gym membership lol

  • you can do 1-leg squats instead. You will have to find some other lift to work your hamstrings though because 1-leg squats work mostly your quads. I have programs for people with no equipment included on my blog. You do have to pay $5 tho

  • is the program with no equipment guaranteed to make me dunk trust me im not that far away XD 6'4-6'5 can only hang on rim

  • whats the difference between body squat and like the squats that help you on your vertical O_o
