well about the stay away from the higher levels of your house tip .... i live in a building on the TOP FLOOR :/ you should have stated that if you live on one of the upper floors of a building in a bad earthquake , you should use the stairs to get out because using the elevator could kill you.
Safety in a 5.5 earthquake...right...and I thought Latin's were dramatic. We get those everyday here in Chile. Just hold on to your drink and let it go by.
What is this world coming to? Earthquake Safety. The trouble with earthquakes is the difficulty in predicting them. If we could predict them we could prepare better - same with tornadoes. Canada alone has 1200+ earthquakes every year; most of which are not perceptible to us or happen when we are asleep. I understand this video is trying to help people be prepared, or aware of "what to do", but I find it extremely superfluous and a means to spread paranoia. And don't get me started on THAT topic!
the earthquake wasnt anything huge but i was scared! i thought i was really dissey but it actually tuns out that things around me were moving. and it is scorching hot! 100 digrees farnhite with humidity. we are expecting turential rain thundersotrms hail and possibly tornados! how terrible!
Third -> Taking about a normal house with 2 levels. It is neither safer or better if it collapse if you are in the ground/second floor. Definitly dont go to the stairs! I don't know much about the basement. If you are upstairs, take cover with pillows. If you are downstairs, run out of the house or hide under a STRONG supported table.
Crush to death = death. Fell to death = death. Fell can be broken legs but survived. Crushed can be broken arms but survived.
First -> turn off the gas stove only if you are nearby... (If the building collapse, and you are buried, doesnt matter if it exposes.) Or else get out of the building and take cover like a pillow or hide under a strong supported table.
Second -> Stay away from glasses like Windows, etc. This is a MUST to mention as common injury is from broken glass pieces.
People at work didn't know what to do. I used to be a flight attendant and I told everyone to get out of the building. It is amazing how stunned people get that they don't even think of what to do.....
i felt it today, and it almost knocked my fridge over. I was freaking out. and scared, im 15 and everything just started shaking hardcore and i lost reception in my cell phone. SCARY!
i clicked on this video cuz her pretty face. i doubt anyone is going to youtube to watch saftey videos

Get outside. Or if you can't, lie as flat as possible besides something that won't compact, like mattresses.
Hiding under something that will collapse is the worst thing to do.
