  • i agree snows are great. or winters.

  • What's the name of the car at 0:21?

  • @bellci Its a Ford Thunderbird.

  • @DavidCo89 Thanks!

  • This was remarkably entertaining.

  • in the Curve, with the first two, they did break, with the last (wintertires) they did not break, so did not understear.

But never the less wintertires are the best, of cours!

On ice they make the biggest difference.

  • i understand each car got the same distance "head start" on the acceleration test but the results are compounded having the cars not start the clock at a standing start.

  • I live in Florida, so summer tires are good down here, lol

  • i have ordered a set of hankook icebear 310 after watching this video.

  • one thing i noticed is that the all season car used the brakes on the curve while the snow tire vehicle did not. You can not properly direct your car if your foot is on the brakes. So this test was somewhat unfair

  • @kingstonelection2010 Keep in mind this study was done by a tire company as well. I'm not buying into it.

  • Best winter tyre video on the u tube

  • Which is EXACTLY why I order my snow tires from tirerack today. I tried driving my WRX in the snow on summer tires... AWD doesn't do much if you're car can't grip the road.

  • @YellowFDkid that's scary dude.... braking must have been scary.

  • 2:40 glad i didn't lend MY car for the test!

  • how about you test FWD instead of RWD that we already know that they suck in rain, snow and ice! RWD cars are meant to be driven in Summer !

  • Can I keep using the winter tyres for the whole year?

  • @Jormungandr69 winter tires are for winter only; they wear out fairly quick in temperatures above 40degrees F

  • @spiro37 being softer, won't they have better grip?

  • @Jormungandr69 in the winter yes, but the softer compounds from which they are made means they will wear out faster, especially in warm weather.

  • @Jormungandr69 check out this video, it gives you a nice diagram on the winter tires in summer debacle :)

  • @spiro37 finally a decent answer, ty.

  • Its funny the weather channel always warns people to slow down and take their time.. not to realize that they have summer tires and shouldn't be on the road AT ALL

  • @XxHolyPoptartxX I hear that.... I got Hanook Ipikes, they are pretty damn sweet :)

  • @XxHolyPoptartxX yeah i think youre right. lot of accidents are caused by summertires in the winter. thats why its forbitten to drive with summertires in winter in germany ;D

  • @XxHolyPoptartxX is it okay to drive with winter tires in the summer? or do you usually change your tires depending on the season?

  • Great video! The side by side and overlaid comparisons are the best. I did think that it was odd that you couldn't see the ABS pulse the brakes near the end of the braking lane.

  • @snowrocket

Most ABS do not work when speed is lower than 20 km/h. Other wise it is going to take you forever to stop a car.

  • @MrBS4 Maybe so, and you did say "most". I've seen some that seemed to work down to a slow walking pace, around 1-3MPH/2-5KPH. However, my observations on this were on packed snow, not ice.

  • @snowrocket

I am not sure. That may not be ABS, maybe just because the non-unifom coefficent of friction on the surface and cause the tire rotate and stop.... But I personally do not know, my car does not have ABS.

  • @MrBS4 Thats usually why in winter you brake MUCH earlier.
