Very Nice face cut my friend, that takes a lot of skill and courage to do that.Perfect choice of face cut too It's apparent that some don't know the 3 face cuts and their advantages!Be safe.
Gee, that funny, bub..... it is darn near perfect. The objective was to miss the targets...house, fence, and nice shed. Thus, a 70 degree open face for no chance of early face closure problems....and a loss of a whole , what 20 board feet? Dave, by the way, is Class C FS certified, hotshot, by the man himself, D Douglas Dent.
why risk the damage? Yes it was a nice fell but wouldnt it have been safer just to block it down or rope 10ft at at time. Longer time but no risk equals no damage.
8 months later, I reply.... I debated for quite some time, whether to take the risk. But there was little money on the job. Most came from the log sales. Twas at least 20 yards of chip, if I recall, lots of branch lowering. I'd limbed it to 85 feet, so as to clear the fence and fancy shed..... No way would we have lowered wood, there was a good drop zone. But no way to drop the needed 30-36 foot log lengths......
Daaaaamn!!!!! Good job guys! I've taken some pretty big trees out in tight places in my time,....But nothing like this monster in one shot with so little margin for eror!!!
ive fell some pretty big trees in some tight spaces befor down here in fl (mostly tall ass palm trees) but never get a chance to fell any big trees like that guess cause we dont have any that big. great job tho man. but down here in fl we got a couple diffrent trick for yall boys up there yall aint seen yet! haha

Well I guess thats the difference in production fallers and arborists. Where absolute precision is critical.
