Interesting theory but i think you're looking into things far too deeply. I really don't think it's anything quite so spectacular, it's far more plausible that it's just a tale that had some origin in truth in that a large area of localised flooding occurred which to the people of that time would appeared to have been 'worldwide'.

Why is it that religious people love to substantiate archaeological finds with modern scientific dating techniques when it comes to a relic loosely related to biblical/koranic time periods, but deny the same science that points to evolution? I really don't think it's anything quite so spectacular, it's far more plausible that it's just a tale that had some origin in truth in that a large area of localised flooding occurred which to the people of that time would appeared to have been 'worldwide'.

The fossil record would show animals gradually migrating from this region, let alone the fact that there isn't enough water on the planet to cover the highest peaks. The mountain ranges on earth do not grow fast enough to have been so low 4000 years ago. Mt Everest would have been about 26k feet high back then lol.

Why is it that religious people love to substantiate archaeological finds with modern scientific dating techniques when it comes to a relic loosely related to biblical/koranic time periods, but deny the same science that points to evolution? Be fair, you can't have it both ways. Either carbon dating, radiometric, dna, obsidian hydration dating, etc are right or they are wrong. Be consistent.

@bigmrclean Something did create all of this. And the evidence does not point to a creator. It points to natural selection. All the various forms of dating, along with dna and fossil evidence link us to a darwinian evolution. If you have true evidence, true proof, then please offer it up. But as it stands, the Torah, the Bible and the Koran are works of men, and men alone. If any of these works were of divine origin, they would offer us insight into micro-organisms, the fabric of time/space, etc

If anything these may be ancient rice terraces. But for only 4 or 5000 years, there would be more evident than what they think they have here as an Ark. It will be a testament of God, to his Truth that Noah's Ark is high upon the mountain of Ararat, where his Word says it is, that ye know HIM, and how it is not where the Curran says it is, with truth being not found in them. Glory be to the God of Noah, in Him is truth.

@SeekTruthinLight The Ark is nonsense.Even kindergarten kids can see it`s a fairy tale. Not even today, could a ship be built, that has to contain what Noah`s Ark was supposed to contain. But Noah and his sons without any shipbuilding experience or knowledge, probably a poor family without financial means, they build it in a few months. What NONSENSE.

Genesis is fiction, allegory. From the 106 schools that make up the " Christian College Coalition" only 5 teach that Genesis has to be taken litterally and that the "global flood" really happened.

Inland oceans, not flooding rivers, filled Australias interior, miles and miles of shellfish shells throughout the outback prove it to be so. Know what a midden is?
There are middens dotting the Ancient coastline that is now in the interior of Australia.Naive, doesn't describe you that well, ignorant perhaps does.

Tell me, did they all build arks as well? How exactly did they survive this worldwide year long flooding, as the bible makes no mention of noah bringing aboard aborigines. Please, share.

@NoAnte Certainly, archeological sites in Australia, 1000's kilometers inland, in what is now desert, has multitudes of indigenous 'middens' that survive dotted along the ancient shoreline of that ancient ocean. Now its clearly obvious that when the oceans rose in antiquity, that the 'world' of Noah was flooded, though as for its enclusivness of the entire globe, that goes well beyond Noahs world, doesnt it. down here the indigenous population survived a rising ocean, evidence is on the ground.

Ride whales? Perhaps constructed dirigibles? Also, I'd be curious how you jive that with a presumably literal interpretation of genesis, where it rather plainly states that everyone outside the ark was killed.

@NoAntecessor well in fact i dont jive with fundemental literalism, but then i dont disclude paleo/literal/historic relevance of mythology in assesing factors of deep time. as the middens evince the point of human inhabitants before, during and after wild ocean rises, would suggest that in any case they did survive the multiple contential ocean flooding, recalled in our tradition throught the myth of gilgamesh/noah. If by 'flood' you're implying a 'worldwide' submergance, you're not quoting me.

@WellSightedGentleman, fair enough. Though I'd like to see the citations regarding shellfish middens in the australian interior (not just regular garbage middens). Specifically, marine shellfish, and not freshwater clams etc. I got curious and went reading up on australian geography and didn't find anything about inland seas.

@rich080392 You seem to still be missing the point. The whole deal being discussed is if Genesis can be taken literally, not if there's deity or not. And the fact is Genesis simply cannot be taken literally as there is evidence that directly contradicts it. The careful examination of a single evaporite deposit demonstrates this clearly.

@lizazoon But the ones who do try to say it is factual are very active both in social meida and politically. This is what I'm trying to provide a fact-based counter point. I've no real idea if deity exists or not. That's something beyond my experience and study. But I do see what happens when people try to twist data to fit their own preconcieved notions. It's not pretty.

i love trying to decode Genesis,its one of my favourite thinking points!we all know that Noah appears in old Sumarian texts as Gilgamesh,I like to think that the whole story is just a metaphor for a dying world and the ark an interplanetary lifeboat,carrying not two animals of every kind but the DNA sequence of all the entities on it.maybe thats just me but it kinda makes sense
