I was reading something that mentioned Karloff, and they linked to this video so that we'd know who he was. It wasn't until he'd been talking for a minute and a half that I placed his voice and remembered where I'd heard the name before.
Hyde does not speak in this movie. In fact (HERE'S A SPOILER, SO IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE MOVIE, DON'T READ ON), there are a bunch of Mr. Hydes in the film. Remember Costello turned into a Mr. Hyde and bit all of those police officers at the end, and they turned into Mr. Hydes. The Mr. Hydes never talk. They just growl, like the Wolf Man. In fact, this Mr. Hyde has much more in common with the Wolf Man than with the Mr. Hyde of past films.
I was wondering, does anyone know why in this movie Dr.Jekyl injects the serum into his arm when he's supposed to drink it? The same thing happened in "The Mummy's Hand" but in the sequels the priests tried to get their victims to drink it.
This is great fun. It isn't Stevenson's story, but it isn't supposed to be. It's more of a spoof of the Stevenson book. You got three greats; Abbott, Costello, and Boris Karloff. It's easy to find and well worth your money.
I'm amazed at how they continuously get the RLS story wrong. The envisioning of Dr. Jekyll was a man who lost control of his dark side through an addiction to his own privately manufactured formula. This movie paints Jekyll in the same vein as Hyde: he deliberately let Hyde loose to do his dirty work for him. And it comes back to bite him later on in the film when he becomes Hyde on his own involuntarily. This film's good for laughs but it's a bad interpretation of the original story.
Well in the movie's defense it IS Abott and Costello and I guess they weren't trying to make it as amazing as the actual book and movies. Like how they just kinda made Larry Talbot the Wolfman again. They just accept you to role with it. And besides if this gets you check out the animated cartoon prequel to the Van Helsing movie "The London Assignment". In that he's trying to restore Queen Victoria's youth by killing innocent people as Hyde and stealing their souls so he can have her.
this is from abbott & costello meet dr jekyll & mr hyde. this film was an absolute RIOT! and it ranks right up there with abbott & costello meet frakenstein as their all time best work!
Hey have you ever seen him In the Mr. Wongs? I could barely tell it was him with the hair pushed far back and the poirot mustache, and not to mention the eyeliner. I could only recognize it was him when he spoke. [I don't think an Englishman will ever be able to disguise fully as a Chineseman.
I think the reason that they made him look like a monkey, is because in the book he attacks Carew with 'Ape-like fury' So they may have got it from that.
WTF????? SENSE WHEN IS MR. HYDE A WEREWOLF?????

Classic...Boris's (William H. Pratt) trademark was his mustache ,he appeared more with it than without it.
Thanks for this great upload!

an epic glorious disaster brought to by some of the worst actors who ever had the misfortune to grace the stage.

@imlaughing2death It's the filmmaker's choice. An injection is generally more severe than drinking a potion.
