Little beach is mostly old naked people, but there is a cool weekly drum and firedancer event at sunset that is real cool to see (free), it is a hippie (and gay at one end) hang out, but all are welcome, I saw a naked dude surfing there, he was catching huge wintertime waves, you couldn't help but watch, it is separated by the lava flow outcropping you see in the video, it is an easy climb though, big beach is more family oriented, and now gas lifeguard towers and atv lifeguards as well, it's a

@natava1 sorry it took soo long 2 answer !!(has to do with change of mail-adres) but TO ME Big Beach is still a fabulous place ; plse don`t get me wrong !Still...there are WAY better beaches to find out there ... especially for fishing !! The waves @ Big Beach are killing for keeping your line up & tight.. and in my days there was just a dirt road to it .. all paved now ,parkinglot etc ..kinda ruins it but hey ; YOU still live there ... I`m back in Holland since 18 yrs ... WHO`S BETTER OFF NOW?

Lol the helicopters wanted to get a good close up on Naked Beach!!! I loled when I saw tourists go hiking back from that beach with their eyes wide because they didnt know there were a bunch of old naked hippies there! xD

I used to live on Makena Beach in the late sixties. I almost recognize the waves. I lived in a bunker, and would hitch 5 miles into Kihea for a fresh water shower. So long ago, but I'll never forget.
