@Greg321m I'm pretty sure his tone choice for his lessons are for improved clarity of the notes. No, this wasn't a "blues lick", but it was a lick that used a blues pentatonic scale (note the raised third in his lick). I also don't think the lesson was pointless because it does require some level of control to skip back and forth between the B and the e string with any sort of speed. Just my opinion, though.

Although I agree that Paul is an amazing musician and is far surpassed my skill level. I disagree with watching him play. And also teach. I have learned many licks from his vids as well as Joe and peteucci. I have been playing for almost 20 years and can play many of them at normal speed. It just takes practice and determination. These guys were us at one point in their lives. You have to want it bad enough. Play till u bleed.

I have to remind myself that this is all relative. I was showing one of my students how a chord change with one pulled off note on each of the two chords can be sooo simple....she stared at me with incredulity....the same way I'm staring at this video. I'm personally aquainted with the fact that I simply don't have the altered genome to accomplish this at this speed, and it makes me weep to know it!!! PG is great!

It takes practice, absolute dedication, time, and above all, patience. Plus he teaches so many of his techniques in such detail. The first five minutes of Intense Rock I made my guitar playing phenomenally better. You just think you can't play like that, but have you REALLY tried?
