OMG! The anime is soooooooo great! My fave actually! But I don't really like the trailer! It doesn't show the dramatic moments of the show! It seems like it's just another sissy romantic anime! But it isn't actually! It's verrrry dramatic, plus they have some action there too! That's why I love it!

@Midnight08 I agree. I haven't seen the show yet, but I shall be soon via Netflix and I am familiar with the plot. Shakespeare's version is weak. It pales in comparison to his other work. There's some witty dialogue, but the romance is shit. This looks truly touching and heartfelt. I can't wait to see it.

@MrSalamander7 O my god I can't believe you would say that. Romeo and Juliet is Shakespeare's greatest masterpiece. Think about it he had Romeo and Juliet scheme against their parents in a time were that was unthinkable. More so for Juliet who wasa woman ( keep in mind the time era this was) blatantly telling her parents she wouldn't marry the man they wanted her too. This anime is great but it could never beat the original.

@willowbreezeMiyuki Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Shakespeare fan, but R + J is shit. They're instantly in love and ready to marry after one encounter (technically two, but practically one). They're ready to die for each other after four days. Romeo is a whiny douchebag who behaves like any other teenager who can't tell love from his asshole. We learn practically nothing about Juliet's personal character. We know she's pretty has a bad relationship with her mother, but that's about it........

And yes, of course its ironic but its a beautifully written thread consequences, love , and tragedy sprung from the irony that two rivals children fell in love. ( probably one of Shakespeares famous revenge\ Can fate be avoided? things) Mind you I love the anime its a very well done, and unique

You actually got to see beyond the obvious in the anime, you actually got to see what made them tick. Romeo's decision to kill himself for a girl would be mature if he had known her for more than four days and he/we learned more about the girl that would make her worth dying for....

The conclusion where they kill themselves lacks appropriateness and real drama. It wasn't tragic, it was just ridiculous and ironic. It was like watching a pseudo-romantic version of Snatch. The anime corrects ALL of these problems.

@MrSalamander7 Juliets character is shown through her actions. Shes passionate, short tempered , and she doesnt let the standards set foer women then get in her way. Romeo is immature and rash at first but his maturity progresses when he decides he would rather die with her. their love is so great because they dont need weeks to realize they love eachother.

We never get to see what made them love each other and are forced to assume it's because of looks. That's very fucking weak. Also, the irony is just a result of a lack of knowledge. It's very much like Snatch. It's not as though there was some noble catch-22 esque reason behind it. It was just bad luck.
