  • Help I can't breathe for laughing....

  • Oh, what has happened to television? This was, and will always remain, brilliant. And Hall wasn't the only one convulsed with laughter; I recall this with great affection.

  • I remember watching this programme in the 70's and crying with laughter just at Stuart Hall. Love it!

  • Congratulations to Stuart Hall or as he is known round our way....Lord Hall of Under Lyne :) a hugely overdue Order of the British Empire, we salute you sir :)

  • This is probably the Best video on Youtube

  • "The stealthy arrival of the French"!!

How the hell can 10 people dislike this? Weirdos.

  • Love the way that Dougie takes out the German at 1.50 and the way that the poor German then just slides off. Stuart Hall had been out with members of the British team the night before for beers and Dougie was a straightlaced Dustman by occupation; having got to know Dougie a little bit, must have made it all that much funnier for SH.

  • You can't help but cry with laughter.. Fantastic!! Stuart hall you are hilarious !!!

  • Like everyone else, i only used to watch it so i could hear Stuart Hall laughing, His laugh is so infectious :-D

  • haha awesome, love the commentator :)

  • Thanks for posting my favourite comedy clip. I regret to say that pant wetting is catching so if you will excuse me - I have to go and pay a visit.

  • Is this game a metaphor for the European Union?

  • Oh, crumbs. It's 1.49am and I'm almost wetting myself with laughter. Dear Stuart Hall - he certainly deserves a knighthood for services to entertainment.

  • I remember this well. When I get depressed I leave the pills alone and just watch this,

so funny. I hope they did a risk assessment before .....not

  • I will never, ever get tired of this. I'm not British, but should you not give Stuart Hall a Knighthood or something? He is a legend.

  • C'mon Doug! Make Britain proud!

  • Think about the health and safety standards of today they won't allow it. This was great then it got revamped with Frank Bruno and it was utter SHIT.

  • I miss these games :)

  • Love it when Stuart Hall says "The stealthy arrival of The French"! I'm sure we wouldn't be allowed to say that nowadays!!

    Brilliant clip!!!!

  • they should replace that load of bollox that is the eurovision song contest with this !

  • Btw I believe the dutch penguin won. great show needs to come back

  • @beanfurze1 Not enough hype or tatooed flesh I guess.

  • Sit down too or more warring parties together. Play them this. All enmity would stop forever.

  • @animatetime So True !! Amen !! I totally agree !! (And when you sit them down, dress them up in floppy penguin suits) xD

  • London Olympics 2012

  • Stuart Hall deserves a Knighthood for this piece of commentary!

  • ahh great memories, remember watching this on a friday night most weeks.

  • Absolutley brillant stuart your the man...

  • Those were the days... Hilarious!

  • This cheers me up everytime i see it.Nice one Stuart.....

  • Ah Yes, thats how I remember it!!!

  • I remember this sooo well, I was a little kid on holiday with my mum & dad in Dumfries. The whole lounge room in our B&B was laughing to the point of senselessness, not so much at the action but more Stuart Hall's side-splitting commentary. I'm just happy that I can still view it, via this opportunity, to this day.

  • We used to watch this during summer time, too, every week. A lot of laughs on both sides of the screen. In best memory are also the two judge men (I think one is from belgium). Pity that there is nothing compared to this again in todays TV program.

  • hally nearly passes out !superb

  • 9 people have never lived how can you not laugh at this!!!

  • oh it must come back on tv. we always watched this at home and we always where cheering for holland

  • How can someone dislike that ? OMG it's so good.

  • I see eight dislikes. How can anyone not enjoy this? I remember, as a kid, seeing it live, & being so doubled up in laughter that it hurt my stomach. It wasn't so much the action, it was Stuart Hall.

  • Brilliant!!

  • The noise Stuart Hall makes at 2.10 is more pterodactyl than human.

  • why dont we have this sillyness anymore?

Do you remember crowding round the telly with the rest of the family, booing the cheating germans, cheering for other nations when it it was our turn to miss a round.

    AAH happy days,

  • The guy who designed this game - genius. Stuart Hall is rightly getting props here, but the mind that devised this is an unsung hero.

  • LMAO at the Belgian taking out the German at 1:51! Made even funnier by Hall's laugh!

  • @db1987db It wasn't the Belgian, it was the Brit!!

  • @SilverWitness So it bloody was! Didn't see the G... Even better!

  • @db1987db You took the words right out of my mouth!!

  • The memories of my Dad and me watching this with Stuart Hall's laugh was Hilarious! - Absolutely simple clean fun! - wish it was back - but Stuart Hall for me was genuinely brilliant!

  • @deathtoleftys Health and safety nazis would stop it? Oh yeah, like they stopped Total Wipeout. Oh wait....

  • @halogen123 why is Total Wipeout filmed in Argentina

  • I miss this.

  • @deathtoleftys Costs to staging broadcasters and declining numbers of viewers stop it - not 'health and safety nazis". Good fun while it lasted though.

  • One of my great 70's childhood memories was this game with the penguins, S.Hall was hilarious, as was the game itself - brilliant stuff.

  • TV as it used to be!! THE BEST!!

I remember crying with laughter the FIRST time I saw this. It's still as good as ever.

What happened to good, honest, ENTERTAINMENT like this?

  • @Mrphilharmonic dont know. But I thought the hideous existed only here in Portugal. Nowadays I just watch the news. Besides that is only stupid novels and reality shows. Portugal used to participate in Jeux Sans Frontieres and it was so awesome!!!

  • happiness is ruined by health n safety morons

  • All the best tv and music was in the 70s and 80s, after that it all went downhill. This is HILARIOUS! LOL!

  • I am wondering why they stop this games, this is entertainment! not the kind of bullshit they put on television these days, they are so incompetents!!

Je me demande pourquoi on a arrêté d'organiser ce genre de jeux, c'est ca qu'on appelle émission pas la merde qu'on nous diffuse jour et nuit et qui est signe juste de leur imcompétence!!!!

  • This has to be the funniest clip on Youtube and brings back so many memories! I met Stuart Hall when we were filming an advert once and told him he was one of the happiest memories of my childhood, but thanks have to go out to you for posting it.

  • This never stops being funny, no matter how many times you watch it.

The BBC should repeat this clip every Christmas after the Queen, It would become a National Institution!

  • Absolute class.....you know they're going to fall over again and again but when it comes Hall's manic laughter, makes it achingly hilarious......brilliant stuff from a bygone era, when we had proper tv!!

Thanks sooo much for posting :))

  • Did Doug win? As if I care - genius!

  • Stuart Hall is a national treasure and at 80years old his football reports are still hilarious.

  • brilliant game. hilarious commentator!

  • brilliant, even after numerous views over the years. great how Stuart Hall is in bits the last minute.....

  • I defy anybody not to laugh at this. Stuart Hall was (and is!) a genius. Why should comedy in the UK be clever, and largely unfunny?

  • watched this with my dad he was crying with laughter lol funniest thing iv ever seen lol we bloody love dougiee!:)

  • I just can't stop watching this! The screetching at 1.25, the helpless laughter at 1.54 and the loss of control at 2.09 brings tears of laughter to my eyes EVERY time! Bring it back, (the ORIGINAL series, not the crap Frank Bruno series), even if it is repeats it'll STILL be better than the reality show shite that is the staple fayre of TV nowadays.

    Arise Sir Stuart of Hall!!!!!

  • A Priceless Television moment in history, going back to a time when tv bosses entertained us at any cost, now its Just about cost hence the repeats, reality Shows & endless talent contest.
