Jean Passassante can be very cruel. Her plot machine is a monster, devouring characters, relationships - and, ultimately, viewer interest.
Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann did a lot with a little in an under-written, under-directed scene. Luke's desperation was palpable - even though the director chose not to show Luke's immediate reaction to Noah's pulling away, I could almost see the light go out in his eyes.
