@SuperMegabar I don't hate you, despite what you might think, you closed-minded liberal nitwit. I just think "Fag Fighters" is hilarious as all hell. Bwahahaha. lol
It's a shame they haven't explored more into this direction (the strictly acoustic ones from In Your Honor and ESPG don't count). I love the hard rock foos, but TINLTL is so listenable. I guess maybe "Walk" sounds like it could have come from TINLTL
@Stitcher1964 I think Grohl borrowed a lot from the Beatles (in a good way) on this album, but this is definitely the most Beatle-esque song of 'em all. There might even be a hint of Cobain in it too: when they were still playing together at Nirvana, Cobain liked to jam Beatle tunes every so often.
Definitely My Favorite Dave Grohl Song...I Was Working Security For Him @ A Show In Long Beach Ca..In Either '05 Or '06..I Asked Him Why He Didn't Do This Song Or MIA Or Any Slower Ones..He Said He Didn't Want To Put AnyBody 2 sleep...Funny Guy..Also A Nice Guy ..Stood There And Talked To Me For 30 Mins After The Show..Just Me And Him..I Guess He Was Fascinated @ How A Big Black Ex GangMember Even Dug His Music..I Wish Kurt Wouldnt Of Died..They Would Of Passed The Beatles Up For Sure...
@murkserious1600 badass story dude. I love this song, it somewhat calms me down. I can imagine living in peace and tranquility sitting on the porch listening to song and just being content with life.......cool.....
@murkserious1600 well I don't know if they would have PASSED The Beatles..however I love the Foos as much as I love the Beatles which is a LOT!!!!! I really don't think Nirvana would have been together too much longer........I wish Kurt were still here too.
this song makes me feel like i'm walking by the street on a summer day without worring about nothing and saying, well, anyway, my life is not as wrong as i thought,
that deep sound of the guitar when the song starts sometimes brings me a tear.. i just can't live without Foo, they have a place in my soul that only they can reach.
I dunno, I can definitely hear a hint of The Beatles in this melody. It's a little heavier than some of their stuff but Dave's a drummer at heart so that's expected. He's said before that The Beatles are the inspiration for his softer/acoustic songs.
A lot of there stuff doesn't sound exactly like the Beatles. But Dave is definitely and has said that he is influenced by them. This definitely sounds like them, especially in the guitar "solo" towards the end. If you are a big Beatles fan listen to "Statues" off of Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace and tell me it's nothing like the Beatles. I could here Paul singing it easily.
Johnny94Depp every so many years true artists come along. It's doesn't happen very often, especially these days, and these days there is only a very very small percentage that deserve the title of artist. The Foo Fighters are part of the percentage, and it's an honor to be in these times with such an amazingly talent group, to experience this.
The Foos are so cool cuz they play polar opposites of rock, mellow stuff like this, and then hard stuff like Wattershed or Breakout, but whatever they do they do incredibly well. Any albumn you can listen to over and over, then go to some of their other stuff for a while, then come back and fall in love with that fist albumn all over again
I adore their acoustic stuff - In Yr Honour has to be the most gorgeous thing I've heard - I adore their noisy rock stuff too and it makes great music to drive to. just can't get enough of them.
DesecrationSmile2012 - Couldn't agree more with you - I love all their accoustic sets and their melodic stuff equally as good as their hard rock stuff.
Very underrated indeed. People seem to ignore this song when talking about the band's softer side, which is a shame because it is one of their best yet.
i love this fucking band, omg people like dave, pat, nate chris, and tylor should never die. the better album they made.
