Lillian McMurry called him Elmo.....the flip side is Catfish Blues by Bobo Thomas...according to Mrs. McMurry(owner of Trumpet Records) Elmore suddenly developed mic fright...so she had Elmore and Sonny Boy Williamson II play this song and she hit the record button...when Elmore was told they had been recorded, he left the studio and didn't return.....so another artist was recorded and his song ended up as the b-side

I love the blues...I've been listening to this song since I bought an album on the U.K. 'Sue' label, called 'We Sing The Blues' back in 1968. What an album, what a track!

Please can you put a video up of the other side of this record ? I have the same disc, in rubbish condition - unlike your mint-looking one. It has a crack from the edge to the middle and taped together on the non-Elmore side - so I can't play that track.

I thnk I'm right in saying this is Elmore's very first recording, Sonny Boy Williamson on harp. Have never seen a 78 of it before!

Never seen him credited as 'elmo'. It sure sounds like Elmore, I Cant imagine it isnt him.

This is a gem. I love Mr. James. I have none on 78, I can only hope to luck into one one day for cheap. Great upload !
