I know two ways to catch Abra!

One is to use Taunt, I think it was, then it makes it so Abra can only use Physical attacks, which it lacks the ability to do.

But screw that! I just battle and earn money, then buy it at the Game corner in Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Green/Firered/­Leafgreen! None of your Pokemon can even learn Taunt until Chimchar in Diamond and Pearl.

The only way you can possibly hope to get ur alakazam bak is by offering a real trade like

trading a kadabra for a gravelor. that way the other wants it bak because its a golem or even better trade kadabra for a haunter then it evolves to gengar which is the most kick ass ghost ever lol

And Alakazam had1 hit killz all the time. then just add gangar the legendaries and your starter and you beat anything except other players that required talent and a good team like... fuck... the DsLite won't play gameboy games. fuck... all well and the trading thing isn't a problem if u have 2 gameboys or 1 gameboy and an advance...

I just ended up going "screw it" and wait until you can find Kadabra and then catch it then bred it and that was only for the pokedex.

In the original I only caught an abra once, not because it was hard, but because it's only move was teleport, so you have to do that stupid switch thing to get it to evolve once, and you have to trade it to evolve it the second time; and alakazam is not worth all that. I used Gengar mostly.
