Facebook is super-ficial to relationship status. It's like, I don't care you got a new boyfriend, got married you, nor had a baby you pathetic desperate skank. A couple month ago, I decided to stop logging on to Facebook because it was just mentally unhealthy for me. Right now, I have no friends living close to me and now have a Google+. What I am doing different on Google+ than Facebook is that I am keeping it very simple. Only have a few people I know, be modest, and log on to the website once a week or every other week. As of now I am debating if I want to get rid of my Facebook account.
Facebook can be a good thing or a bad thing. For me it was mostly a bad thing to have. I was very addictve for a while, I lost friends for posting stupid comments on my wall or theirs, I was ganged up by people who were jerks, and criticized for my typos. Yet they don't criticized their friends' typos even if really hard to read. Also, I see a lot of happeniess posted on their walls such as "in a relationship". Things like that just make brings my self-esteem down.

People have facebook in order to get as much approval from people as possible. Its about constantly getting noticed, even from random people. The place is an illusion where narcisstic people believe they are the center of their social circle. The truth is though, that everybody only care about themselves in the first place. There is definitely a friends contest going on at facebook where message is obvious: the more "friends" you have, the more status you get. Its so sad.
Social networking causes people to focus all of their energy towards creating a virtual personality rather than a real one. I've noticed that since the invention of facebook, people have become so consumed by trying to find ways to update their pictures and profiles in a way that portrays how "fun" their lives are, rather than living in the moment and actually enjoying themselves. If a moment cannot be bragged about to hundreds of others, it means nothing.

I found an old bully on facebook and I thought that it would be the perfect time for her now an adult could apologize for what she did to me. The bitch pretending she didn't know who I was and blocked me. But not before I saw she was living in section 8 housing and put on about 75 lbs. In this case my self esteem was elevated.

People have facebook in order to get as much approval from people as possible. Its about constantly getting noticed, even from random people. The place is an illusion where narcisstic people believe they are the center of their social circle. The truth is though, that everybody only care about themselves in the first place. There is definitely a friends contest going on at facebook where message is obvious: the more "friends" you have, the more status you get. Its so sad.

Social networking causes people to focus all of their energy towards creating a virtual personality rather than a real one. I've noticed that since the invention of facebook, people have become so consumed by trying to find ways to update their pictures and profiles in a way that portrays how "fun" their lives are, rather than living in the moment and actually enjoying themselves. If a moment cannot be bragged about to hundreds of others, it means nothing.

i) Facebook reminds me of high-school sometimes with the low value bragging status updates and crap.
ii) I get to know people a bit too too fast and would get to know things that's in the TMI range.

I'm staying off of facebook for about 2 weeks, and if i like life better, ill delete it for good. it's a downer on my day when I see people's relationship statuses change and pictures of a girl I'm talking to post pictures of herself and her cleavage with 15 other guys liking it telling her how "fucking hot" she is. it's a goddamn disease. Facebook has gotten out of control! It started off pretty cool but then got crazy. It's too much mess up there. People just go up there and brag about their lives like they are living so perfectly, but you know they aren't cause EVERYBODY has problems. People put too much of their business up there. It's like, "I'm getting ready to hit the bathroom cause I think I have to do number 2." Twitter is the same way. YouTube is the best invention I think.

Just because people enjoy posting their daily life and it might be better than ours just means their life is different, maybe better than others and facebook doesn't have anything to do with it. They just share it, it's like telling someone something on a cell phone that you don't like. Does it mean the cell phone provider, let's say AT&T, ruins self esteem? It's just providing facts.

People often seem to forget what social networking is built for in the first place. It is not to connect with friends you already know, it is to make new friends on the internet to socialize/meet up. I find that a bit scary meeting people randomly.

I did an experiment on that. 2009, I changed my birthday to January 1 instead of my actually birthday, 3 people greeted me. Didn't change anything on 2010, almost everyone on my list posted on my stupid wall
