  • I love 4:00

  • Why didnt they think of using their fists...

  • @MrRomanator954

    What, like mere ruffians?

  • THE BUSINESS!! Let us be about it.

  • Hugh looks quite dashing ^^

  • 3:43 the epic black man!!!

  • Tienen un negocio ENTRE manos jajaajajajajajajjaja

  • OMG that last line~ I MUST say I concur!

  • I wonder if most of A Bit Of Fry And Laurie fans have never seen House and neither have wanted to.

  • guys can you explain me the part from 1:20 to 1:26 i dont get it ):

  • @lobok991 sort of breaking the third wall kinda thing. joggers in victorian englland.

  • @wimpylassiter2336

I think it's more of an anachronism, really.

  • @GirlWithABowlerHat im gonna grab my dictionary now

  • @lobok991 He asks for a sword, she replies by giving him the time instead. It plays off standard assumptions.

  • This is the first Fry and Laurie sketch I've seen and I loved it!

  • I would have loved been able to watch this remarkably, fascinating show with Fry and Laurie here in Chile, each episode of it, because they are hilarious to death... I can't help laughing with them every time I see them here on YT.

  • The guy in the background at 3:37

  • THE BUSINESS!!!

  • thank you ,thank you so much for these amazing videos :)

  • "You wouldn't have a sword on you, would you?"

    "Oh uh, ten past seven."

    Love that line.

  • Duel to the death with a pair of handkerchiefs! hahahaha

  • Oh, piddle.

  • Oh my God, Hugh Laurie is SO hot here! XD

  • I very much agree with the statement regarding Oscar Wilde. Oh to have been a beautiful young man in Victorian England, so as to have a chance of making love to that man.

  • That entire sketch is legendary comedy. Stephen Fry "I don't take your point" when Hugh Laurie objects to the different weapons...subtle but hilarious.

  • "What are you suggesting? That we duel to the death with a pair of handkerchiefs?"

    "I KNOW IT'S NOT IDEAL!!!"

  • "Quick man the hour grows late!" LOL!!!

  • Oh my, Stephen, that was naughty of You "...and I should imagine he was very good in bed" xD

  • Geoffrey! :D

  • OH his voice..so lovely. I used to listen to hours of it...Harry Potter audio books!

  • they dont make comedy like that anymore, thanks for sharing

  • pure epic nothing more to say

  • STINGS ;DD

  • Lauries face at 1:05 !!! The best moment in the dialogue! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Comedic genius!

  • "....IN HAND!"

  • um,excuse me,you wouldent happen to have a sword,whould you?

    lol -{------> sword.

  • "THE BUSINESS!!! ...Let us be about it." That cracked me up! They're so delightfully insane.

  • Solution: Try to garrote each other with the hankies at the initiating shot of the one pistol.

  • Smartypants.

  • Any problem can be solved if you just bother.

  • and now, gentlemen, when you are ready, i will drop the hank.... hahahahahahaha!!! love it.

  • "...And I should imagine he was very good in bed!"

  • Lol Stephen Fry's last thing on Oscar Wilde! Oh the irony! Wonder if this was before "Wilde" was filmed

  • Stephen (L)

  • wow. hugh looks great!!!

  • You say that like its a suprise :)

  • lol Hugh looks like Marty Fweldman here

  • I love this show. My mom raised me on English comedy, but our local public broadcasting station (in the US) never carried this show. I hope the DVD's are available for my region. I'm off to Amazon to check.

  • I love Hugh's expressions starting around 3:01.

Plus ... his hair looks classy.

  • it´s perfectly possible to die of a handkerchief. or aqt least a wet towel. anyone who has seen Dokuro-chan knows that.

  • anyone that has read/seen hitchhikers knows how deadly a towl is

  • absolutly

hitchiker and dokuro chan. spreading the fear of towels everywhere!

  • Yes, all the froody people should have a towel handy.

  • hitchhiker mothaluvva!

  • and anyone who knows the guitarist hide from X Japan knows how deadly a towel can be... a most stupid death for a great musician Y_Y

  • hmm.... never saw that.... but, sure, why not.

  • Why doesn't that guy just drop the sword and pistol instead?

  • lol :P i love Hugh in this one <3 <3

  • That is facinating, he got to play Oscar Wilde in the movie (Oscar Wilde) many years later.

I bet he never saw that coming ..

    who would ?

  • lol

stephen fry played oscar wilde in the movie "oscar wilde"

  • Don't they look dashing? Ohhhh

  • "I've got two brothers!" :D

  • It's nice to see Geoffrey McGivern playing the referee. McGivern played Ford Prefect in the radio version of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Good actor.

  • I *knew* I recognised his voice! Thanks, that was bugging me.

  • so...Hugh wears those trousers rather well, what? ahem...

  • Love the bit about Oscar Wilde at the end :))

  • 3:56 -- and so the obsession with Oscar Wilde continues...

  • THE BUSINESS!!!!

    let us be about it

  • No-one shouts like Stephen Fry.

  • No one does anything like Stephen Fry. He's uniquely marvelous!

  • such a great line.

  • OMFG Hugh is hot

  • "Sword or pistol?"

"Sword. It's the only weapon for a gentleman"

"Very well. That means, Mr Vanhoowyl, that you have the pistol..."

    LAURIES FACE!!!! LMAO!!!

  • and again at 0:25 xD

  • OMG hugh looks just like robbie williams at 0:20 !! o.Ô

  • i always think he looks a bit like steve mcqueen

  • House's rat?

  • Hey that's the name of House M.D.'s rat! Played by Hugh Laurie, :D

  • how do some people still not realise that Dr House doesnt acctually exist? Hugh Laurie is an actor and comedian. you wouldnt walk up to Angelina Jolie and say 'oh my god - your lara croft' silly people.

  • Who is Angelina Jolie?

  • Tell you what, i hope Laurie doesn't get to play King Lear or another character of that kind. No, no, don't get me wrong, i'm sure he could do that and be brilliant, and i, for one, would love to see it, but... imagine a huge movie theatre, the film begins, atmosphere and so on, Lear appears, and then a voice in the audience screaming: "OMG, this is House!!!"

    Um. Sorry.

Great sketch. Handkerchiefs part is hilarious. These guys are simply gorgeous!

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same. Not the king Lear part, but just how everyone calls him House now... I love House but I think his performances in Brittish comedies are the best!!!

  • I agree. I love the show House, but it's really sad to see such an amazing and talented actor such as Hugh Laurie getting recognized just for that one thing by so many people.

  • And even sadder that such a brilliant and hilarious actor as Stephen Fry is virtually unknown here in America.

Incidentally, where the heck did they get the hat he's wearing at 3:16?

  • He could do wekll in America, but he says he couldn't do a role like House, where he was working constantly.

He's said he really admires laurie for doing it.

  • @saytheremeg Good role model for gay men as well.

  • @saytheremeg

Its a shame. I grew up watching people like Fry and Laurie.

  • @egocentress it's like Rowan atkinson... always called Mr. Bean

  • @egocentress It is possible they believe house to be his masterpiece of talent and thus gaining more praise. Either way Hugh is very talented and I would like to see him more.

  • @egocentress House is simply more popular than Fry & Laurie ever were, and that's logical, since the US shows attract by far the largest audiences. That doesn't mean you can't appreciate what they did before, neither does it negate what they did before. Popularity really isn't much of an issue, especially to these guys, so why care what they're known for, or how popular they are because of what they've done.

  • @KryzMasta It's more popular in the US. But ask a Brit about Hugh Laurie and they'll mention Fry and Laurie first, almost all the time.

  • @egocentress It's OK...Fortunately they recognized him for House and not for being Stuart Little's father.

  • Yes. Yes it is. Hugh Laurie learned an American accent.

  • Braff didn't make fun of him for it, that was scripted - it's called ironic comedy.

  • what??????????????

    of course it is!!!

  • Fry looks great in these tight pants >:))

  • yay!! tight pants on Stephen Fry is love!

  • yes luverly troussers!

I love Fry best on Jeeves & Wooster! Gorgeous

  • jeeves and wooster are awesome!!!

  • have you ever seen blackadder? best show ever. Fry, Laurie, and Atkinson. hilarious

  • agreed! Very nice....

  • nice arse, hugh!

  • Oh man, Stephen's last bit was so funny.

  • I love Hugh's take when Fry picks up the pistol. "Wait a minute . . . "

  • lmao. the runners are the funniest part. with the old theme then, the runners come in with bright colors.

  • ^This fellow is mad^

  • Well to a degree their humor can be quite intellectual. I suppose some people don't like that.

  • But they must at least admit that men capable of formulating popular intellectual humour (with the odd slapstick) are entertaining to others. Comments like that by HotBroodish are unhelpful, although I appreciate their restraint and near even-handedness in their criticism. My reply to the original comment was meant in a lighthearted way.

  • rofl. Fighting to the death with handkerchiefs...

  • That last bit was especially funny, considering that Fry actually played Wilde in the movie "Wilde". Brilliantly, I might add.

  • Hugh is sexy in that clip!!!

  • haha, hugh's hair.

  • I can honestly say that the initial sword or pistol dialogue is one of the more amusing things I have heard.

  • Sword is the only weapon for a gentlemen and a complete prat!!. A bit of advice, never bring a sword to a gunfight!! Great sketch.
