As fan of Doug McClure for nearly 50 years and of his earlier TV series, Checkmate, Search and Barbary Coast, but most especially The Virginian, I love the in-joke references to Kyle's TV shows, "The Floridian" and "The West Virginian"
hi to all who excatly understand the changed lyrics in the theme. i'm sorry, but i don't understand what they excatly sing. I would be very happy if an american post the lyrics.
@Isoman2000 Would you like to swing on a star / carry moon beams home in a jar / and be better off than you are / or would you rather go to Earth / an earthling's a creature as plain as can be / he's not as unique as you or me / his body comes in lots of different shapes / they say his relatives were chimps and apes / but if you take my advice for what it's worth / you could be happy there on earth. ^_^
I love how for every single show from the 80's or 90's you look up on YouTube, the top comment is invariably someone complaining about how everything was great back then and everything now is crap. Nostalgia goggles much? (Granted I'll give you that most of what's on now is crap, I stand by the implications about the "greatness" of the old days. Actually sit down and rewatch some of this crap. Yeesh.)
@ElNingyou It's not so much about the show, rather the fact that you were young and had nothing to worry about, relatively speaking, when you were watching the show. And in retrospect, it looks like crap but this was a popular show at the time. Or maybe it wasn't. Whatever. I know I watched it religiously for awhile, She was hot.
@TDTD32 That is so true! Whenever I watch old shows, I remember being happy then and it makes me sad now. We really didn't have anything to worry about.
For those who wonder about the version "swinging on a star" that they used for the show, it was supposedly somebody only known as "Spooky Sam" who worked on the piece. According to somebody at yahoo answers, anyway. Unfortunately, the person doesn't elaborate if "Spooky Sam" is supposed to be the singer or the person who updated the lyrics to fit the show. Sigh.
OMG I always have trouble remembering the name of this show....I used to love it so long ago.....I also only have vague memories of it so I don't know if I even ever caught every single episode...I have a really bad feeling that this was probably one of those "awesome but very short lived" stories that got pulled for some mysterious and - (most likely stupid) - reason. My family used to love Thea and we all miss it. I know Thea has nothing to do with this show but still wanted to mention it.
Damn i remeber this show so good and i really loved it. I live in Holland and it aired on wednesday afternoon. that must be 20 years ago. Damn i'm getting old.
Oh man I remember this show. Ahh memories. I still remember exactly how the theme song went.
This show was fun but cheesy. I remember one scene where she froze time (I think at a party, maybe a b-day party), and you could see one kid in the background wobble a little, like he couldn't stay perfectly still. Lol
I completely forgot it was set in Carmel, that's only an hour or so south of where I grew up (San Jose).
I wish they'd release this on DVD. I used to love it, but here in the UK they kept playing it out of order or at wierd times. I've always wanted to see it all the way through.
I liked how every shot of Troy has his faced obscured or masked, probably to disguise the fact that it's some random guy, while Burt Reynolds was the voice of Troy.
well well what a shocking graphics, i though those planets were real... oooh and the aliens has a video beam... LOL!!... im kidding.. i like retro shows. I think i remember this one.
also i remeber a boy that runs so fast he's at one place now and the next he's scross topwn in somebody else's house in like, 5 seconds, its not the million dollar man, this boy is like, he runs too fast you cant see mhim
i was just strarting to think of this show's name a few days ago so went to google and typed "girl freezes the paint mid-air 1980s show" and the 1st result was this show's wikipedia page.

geez, quite a flashback. what WAS it about the 80s and early 90s that had people coming up with shows with such out-there concepts? and the networks actually greenlit them, and they were popular! think about it. this, Alf, Small Wonder...
I used to love this show. I would dream about being able to touch my fingers together and stop time, or to just conjure up somebody I wanted to meet. Brings back a lot of good memories from the '80s!
WoW haha my mom was in the kitchen singing this song..and i said wait sing it again i remember that song ! So i thought O that old tv show i was a little girl when it came out that's funny how our memory stores things just had 2 share it with u LOL
I used to love this show! How much did everyone I knew want to have that girls power and freeze time when it suited them? I STILL think about this show when I'm pressed for time.
I almost forgot about this show. And it was one of my favorites. It would be so awesome if someone started running these old shows on tv- one channel devoted to 80's tv.
I have been trying to find both the name and intro to this show for the past few month's. All I remembered was that she was half human half alien. I loved this show but couldn't remember the name. Thanks for the memories!
anyone remember what channel this was on? for some reason I remember it on channel 5 or 9 in southern california. Cause I think that the same channel that Charles in Charge was on. Kind of odd too, cause those were real low budget kind of channels. Most of the really big shows were usually on NBC or FOX

Holy crap! I've had this song in my head for years and for the life of me could not remember the name of the show this was from. Once again, God bless youtube!!!
i was trying to think of the name of this show last week and described it to my boyfriend as them being aliens on earth and i remembered a ladder. i couldn't think of anything else, i was so young when this was on tv, so we just forgot about it. he accidentally found it while searching for a game called out of this world. crazy!!
omg LOL I forgot all about this show! wow I really miss my childhood and all the great 80s shows =(. They need an 80s network...all all 80s shows all the time.
The song is called "Swinging On A Star", originally sung by Bing Crosby in 1944. In this TV show, this is a modified version and I have no idea who sing this version of that song.
tengo escalofrios al ver este video. Cuando volvia del cole siempre veia la serie. Ademas estaba enamorado de la protagonista :P. Gran serie, divertida y original.
i remember when i was a kid i was really sick for like a week and the whole time i was sick i kept having these weird nightmares and this song appeared in all of them.
haha. thank you. they all involved this weird mad scientist guy. i don't remember too well but he would always try to show me these weird experiments haha. and the dreams always ended with me pulling this switch and the theme song to Out of This World would play. i still have weird dreams haha.
this was a classic my brother used to record it while i was at school x

i was trying to think of the name of this show last week and described it to my boyfriend as them being aliens on earth and i remembered a ladder. i couldn't think of anything else, i was so young when this was on tv, so we just forgot about it. he accidentally found it while searching for a game called out of this world. crazy!!

What is the name of the song in this and who sings it?
TheArchfiend 3 years ago
The song is called "Swinging On A Star", originally sung by Bing Crosby in 1944. In this TV show, this is a modified version and I have no idea who sing this version of that song.
bigvoice313 3 years ago
Frank Sinatra sings the original version, "Would You Like to Swing on a Star?"

I probably haven't seen this intro, or show in about 15 years, and as soon as I heard it... it crept from the deep depths of my subconscious.
