  • this was a classic my brother used to record it while i was at school x

  • As fan of Doug McClure for nearly 50 years and of his earlier TV series, Checkmate, Search and Barbary Coast, but most especially The Virginian, I love the in-joke references to Kyle's TV shows, "The Floridian" and "The West Virginian"

  • @ProfessorHess the Wonder Years came out in the 80's...I'll take that over Jersey Shore any-day.

  • This show is finally released on DVD :)

A few eps are missing and they re-recorded the opening tune cause of legal issues but it's still better than nothing

  • i think this got showed on either KTLA, or K-Cal 9 in so cal.

  • I wish I could touch my fingers together and pause things. that would be great.

  • hi to all who excatly understand the changed lyrics in the theme. i'm sorry, but i don't understand what they excatly sing. I would be very happy if an american post the lyrics.

  • @Isoman2000 Would you like to swing on a star / carry moon beams home in a jar / and be better off than you are / or would you rather go to Earth / an earthling's a creature as plain as can be / he's not as unique as you or me / his body comes in lots of different shapes / they say his relatives were chimps and apes / but if you take my advice for what it's worth / you could be happy there on earth. ^_^

  • I love how for every single show from the 80's or 90's you look up on YouTube, the top comment is invariably someone complaining about how everything was great back then and everything now is crap. Nostalgia goggles much? (Granted I'll give you that most of what's on now is crap, I stand by the implications about the "greatness" of the old days. Actually sit down and rewatch some of this crap. Yeesh.)

  • @ElNingyou It's not so much about the show, rather the fact that you were young and had nothing to worry about, relatively speaking, when you were watching the show. And in retrospect, it looks like crap but this was a popular show at the time. Or maybe it wasn't. Whatever. I know I watched it religiously for awhile, She was hot.

  • @TDTD32 That is so true! Whenever I watch old shows, I remember being happy then and it makes me sad now. We really didn't have anything to worry about.

  • Well i love the song.

  • I was singing this song this morning and I loved the show even tho I was young

  • lol i remeber this show from 1992 1993 when i was like 5 or 6 funny how u never forget some things

  • who else?!

  • 13 years old and love this show, thanks mamma for showing me :)

  • @1313sweetie i still watch munsters and these show till this day

  • i thought i would never be able to watch this again! i loved this 20 years ago... or more.. thank you!!

  • For those who wonder about the version "swinging on a star" that they used for the show, it was supposedly somebody only known as "Spooky Sam" who worked on the piece. According to somebody at yahoo answers, anyway. Unfortunately, the person doesn't elaborate if "Spooky Sam" is supposed to be the singer or the person who updated the lyrics to fit the show. Sigh.

  • And by "stories" what I really meant was "series". *blush*

    Oops. Hahaha!

  • OMG I always have trouble remembering the name of this show....I used to love it so long ago.....I also only have vague memories of it so I don't know if I even ever caught every single episode...I have a really bad feeling that this was probably one of those "awesome but very short lived" stories that got pulled for some mysterious and - (most likely stupid) - reason. My family used to love Thea and we all miss it. I know Thea has nothing to do with this show but still wanted to mention it.

  • wat channel was this show on??

  • I use to watch this before dinner in the 80s! LOL

  • kassemg sent me here .....like if u give a damn

  • Damn i remeber this show so good and i really loved it. I live in Holland and it aired on wednesday afternoon. that must be 20 years ago. Damn i'm getting old.

  • The title sequence says "Maureen Flanniga," but IMDB lists her name as "Maureen Flannigan."

  • @SkullHyphy -So I'm not the only one who noticed her name was misspelled! :-D

  • @SkullHyphy pause and look closely and you'll see a big ole blur over where the N should be. As to who did this idk...

  • would i like to swing on a star???? wtf do you think? of course i would!

  • Oh man I remember this show. Ahh memories. I still remember exactly how the theme song went.

This show was fun but cheesy. I remember one scene where she froze time (I think at a party, maybe a b-day party), and you could see one kid in the background wobble a little, like he couldn't stay perfectly still. Lol

I completely forgot it was set in Carmel, that's only an hour or so south of where I grew up (San Jose).

  • Made our night. Thanks for posting!

  • that bird was so fit

  • this used to be an older song, lol

look up Spooky & Sue - Swingin' On A Star (1974)

  • @DoctorDreee

And even older than that, Big dee Irwin sung it in 1963. :)

  • Ahh the great Saturday mornings....This and Small Wonder made a great start to my day!

  • Or would you rather go to Earth?

  • I forgot who voiced Troy? John Astin or Burt Reynolds?

  • @marasu66 Burt Reynolds!

  • I wish they'd release this on DVD. I used to love it, but here in the UK they kept playing it out of order or at wierd times. I've always wanted to see it all the way through.

  • Did anyone else notice that they forgot the last N in Maureen Flannigan's name?

  • @razorramone63139 Chico, I noticed it badguy, because Razor, you mess with his gold, he mess you up, hey yo.

  • liked its hoakiness!!

  • Wow! This brings back memories. LOL! I remember the theme song more than anything.

  • @zebmac80 Me too!!!

  • I liked how every shot of Troy has his faced obscured or masked, probably to disguise the fact that it's some random guy, while Burt Reynolds was the voice of Troy.

  • bon souvenire cette serie

  • Didnt they misprint the teenagers name on the opening credits?

  • @SweetWhiskerz I think if you look closely, there is a little bit of the screen blurred out. I thought that too for a minute!

  • My frave programe when is was a lil girl omg loved it xx

  • well well what a shocking graphics, i though those planets were real... oooh and the aliens has a video beam... LOL!!... im kidding.. i like retro shows. I think i remember this one.

  • also i remeber a boy that runs so fast he's at one place now and the next he's scross topwn in somebody else's house in like, 5 seconds, its not the million dollar man, this boy is like, he runs too fast you cant see mhim

  • @timothysanford012381 Was it the show named "My secret Identity"?

  • @timothysanford012381 the sho was called my secret identity

  • @babyboy123 thanks

  • @timothysanford012381 the show was called my secret identity

  • i was just strarting to think of this show's name a few days ago so went to google and typed "girl freezes the paint mid-air 1980s show" and the 1st result was this show's wikipedia page.

  • ¡Qué recuerdos vienen a mi mente; oh qué época tan bella de mi vida! ¡Out of this world será mi serie favorita!

  • me my sister would do the little freezing game together where we'd put our fingers together and make each other freeze

  • Puta!!!!!! yo amaba esta serie!!!!!

  • I remember this - Christ the shite I used to watch as a kid

  • OMG I've been trying to think of the name of this show for years. When I ask people and tell them what it's about, they look at me as if I've lost the plot.

Finally, I can sleep easy now.

  • @casioexz1080 me too! It was really really bugging me a couple of weeks ago. Used to be glued to this as a kid. Don't wanna watch any now in case it turns out to be shite!

  • who sings this version of "swinging on a star"

  • Anyone notice on 0:56 the last letter of her name is blurred out for some odd reason, its supposed to be FLANNIGAN

  • @jholttn That little blur seems to be there through the whole. Her name was just the only one long enough to be cut off by the box-dimension.

  • This brings back memories. I watched it every time I came home for lunch from school, at 12:30pm. Ha ha, I STILL remember the time and channel it was on. lol

  • @solvalou OMG/ Thats horrible. WTF? You arent serious are you?

  • :29 "Uh-huh!" :36 "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahhhhhhh!"

    Wow...extremely crappy 80's songs rule!!!

I loved this show! This and Small Wonder!

  • nice opening shot of recycled Buck Rogers space fighter shots.

  • @GTBurns48215 That's exactly what i was about to post. BUCK ROGERS!

Looney tunes, Roger Rabbit, Warner Brothers... all die guten Serien!

Heut zu tage lernt man nichts mehr!

  • geez, quite a flashback. what WAS it about the 80s and early 90s that had people coming up with shows with such out-there concepts? and the networks actually greenlit them, and they were popular! think about it. this, Alf, Small Wonder...

  • @freshPrincess626 That was the genius of 80s and 90s sitcoms, they took chances. Nickelodeon doesn't have anything for non-confomist kids anymore

Adventure's of Pete & Pete anyone?

  • google Doe's Account.

  • google Doe's Account.

  • I used to love this show. I would dream about being able to touch my fingers together and stop time, or to just conjure up somebody I wanted to meet. Brings back a lot of good memories from the '80s!

  • I used to love this show! How much did everyone I knew want to have that girls power and freeze time when it suited them? I STILL think about this show when I'm pressed for time.

  • lol i rember this every time i used to watch charmed and piper froze something i always thought of this.

  • I almost forgot about this show. And it was one of my favorites. It would be so awesome if someone started running these old shows on tv- one channel devoted to 80's tv.

  • Ha ha we used to watch this in the UK. I loved it hehe

  • anyone remember what channel this was on? for some reason I remember it on channel 5 or 9 in southern california. Cause I think that the same channel that Charles in Charge was on. Kind of odd too, cause those were real low budget kind of channels. Most of the really big shows were usually on NBC or FOX

  • Well in NY state I remember it being showed on WPIX

  • Man I wish I had that power to like, pause time with my fingers or like, had a smart advice filled crystal box. That would own.

  • I had a crush on Maureen Flanigan - and Donna Pescow wasn't too bad either lol

  • i used to waste my time watching this show after the new munsters on channel 9

  • I haven't seen this since 1990 but when I heard the song again I immediately knew the lyrics. That was weird. I don't remember being that much of a fan.

  • Good memories. ^^

  • Why dosen't the logo show on the credits? Is that an edit?

  • What is the name of the song in this and who sings it?

  • The song is called "Swinging On A Star", originally sung by Bing Crosby in 1944. In this TV show, this is a modified version and I have no idea who sing this version of that song.

  • Frank Sinatra sings the original version, "Would You Like to Swing on a Star?"

  • bobby sheen, who had a hit with bob b soxx and the blue jeans in the early 60s is singing the theme

  • i grew up watching this!!

  • Never realized how hot the mom was ;)
