You would think 10's would stick out farther on the rear. I have 17 x 9's on the front of mine and they stick way out. On the rear I have 285's but I stuck a 1/4" spacer just to get them a hair beyond "flush" with the rear fenders. I hate those guys that do all these expensive exterior mods (not you)- but leave itty-bitty wheels and tires. That overhang looks so shitty on a stang on the rear. It cracks me up sometimes seeing all the money they spend on everything except wheels and tires.

@HOTRODRICO I wouldn't waste my time installing headers if they weren't longtubes. Shorty headers don't make significant enough power over the factory manifolds and its pain to swap headers on these cars. It wouldn't be worth it to me.

@tabres03 Half the tests show that regular shorties often don't show ANY power gains, and even equal-length shorties only equal miniscule gains, 4-6 horsepower----big deal.

Long tubes also sound about 194 times more menacing..

I sure as hell wouldn't call it "smoking badly". Looks more like a tune running on the rich side (which is better safe than sorry) combined with a cat-less exhaust. Looks fine to me...

@rahs9899 Once you ditch the cats on 96 stang the O2 sensors will read a code and you have to get MIL eliminators and sometimes they will cause the PCM to run a lil rich. Thats all the smoke is.

They only way you could fry the rings in a 5.0 or 4.6 stang is run waaaaaaaaay too much nitrous or boost throught them or not change the oil.

It is lowered 2" on H&R SuperSport springs.

I very rarely ever scraped the longtubes, only on very extreme driveways and entrances. You just have to be more cautious and adjust your approach angle.

When this video was shot it was all stock, just powdercoated a bunch of items.

The engine is currently out. It got a .020 bore, forged internals, billet oil pump, ARP hardware, ported heads, upgraded valve springs, a shortrunner intake, and I'm putting a Hellion 76mm ball-bearing turbo kit on it.

They're 18x9 front and 18x10 rear Saleen replica wheels.

The tires on the front are 275/35/18 and the rear tires are 295/35/18's.

nothing you can do to the exhaust will make it sound anywhere close to that. i say that because i have a 00 v6. if your engine is all stock then you can do duel 2 inch. flowmaster and bassani are better known for stangs. x or h pipe it. longtube headers give it a betetr sound too. you can also have headwork done to make it deeper. cams help too.

I'd suggest leaving your exhaust the way it is and save up to invest in a V8.

I had 94 v6 w/ the 3.8. i used headers and mac mufflers w/ an H pipe. Sounded like a v8 idling but get above 800 Rpm and you can tell its a v6 -_-. So the truth is a v6 can never sound like a v8. Let alone a 4.6 DOHC 32 valve =)

It's not too bad. You have to be conscious of your surroundings and a little more careful obviously, approach things a little slower. But I can still get everywhere without scraping that I could before, save some extremely steep driveways and such.

Yes, short-tube headers really do not produce any significant power gains. They're especially not worth it when you factor in the effort required to install a set of headers on a modular powered Mustang. I wouldn't invest the time for anything other than a nice set of mid-lengths or longtube headers.
