  • Why do people have to compare?? The 2 women are completely different and brilliant in their own right!

  • Sara is definitely the better of the two. c_c

  • I went for drinks with her and most of the West End cast as my wife was in the wig department! Nice lady!

  • Damn!

  • That final note was pretty cool. I've never heard it sung that way before.

Unfortunately, I have yet to see a LOTL that matches Sara Ramirez in the delivery of the character. While this woman is good, and makes the character her own, Sara Ramirez will always be the best LOTL for me.

  • Anyone know the lines from 1.18 to 1.26?

  • @jamiekennywicked09

"I'm depressed as i can be. I've got constant PMT. I'll probably be replaced by brittany spears"

  • Can anyone tell me the line after 'My love life is a mess'? They're different lines from broadway

  • @jamiekennywicked09 im depressed as i can be, i have constant PMT

  • i think sara is much better.

  • I'm watching this on tour in July, Jodie Prenger playing her, I think she will pull of the comic delivery better than Hannah, but I'm not sure about vocally. I wish I could have seen Sara live, she is the perfect Lady of the Lake, stunning voice, and hiliariously acted.

  • As... sedate... as the performance is, I have to say that Hannah's ending blows me away. It's a pity because I just don't think this style of song really suits her. I'm intrigued to see what Jodie Prenger does with the part.

  • She is NOT a diva... Sara is on fire when she sings it!

  • umm... that wasn't funny... BRING OUT SARA RAMIREZ!! at least she had the voice AND the comic genious to carry it through. honestly, i wouldn't pay to see this girl...

  • Something's wrong when during one of the funniest songs/scenes ever, nobody in the audience is laughing. Her vocals are ok, but her comic performance is just bad.

  • i like her ending, the final few notes made this version her own

  • Wow that was pretty lame! Sara Ramirez made this song a comic masterpiece, this version makes it a throwaway moment

  • I have to agree with you on that. Sara's was a genius piece of comic timing (and overall extremely good vocal performance, focusing on power and good tone. Hannah's performance was badly acted and although she is obviously a good singer (as evidenced by the amazing high note she plucks out of nowhere at the end), the overall vocal performance lacked polish and consistency.

  • I agree, too. Sarah's interpretation of the song was much stronger both musically and comedically. Hannah's version was shrill (the acting, not the singing).

  • I too saw Hanna in this in London 3 times and she was just brilliant. I also had the good fortune to meet her after her performance in A Little Night Music last month and she is such a lovely lady. I'd have no hesitation in seeing anything she appears in now - she's a first class leading lady with a fantastic voice! ;o)

  • Nice high notes, but I like Sara Ramirez a lot better. On the acting side of things, this lady has no subtelty at all, which kind of kills the humor. Not bad, but I don't think anyone will ever live up to Sara.

  • @musicalfan13 I agree...her singing is really good, but it's Sara's expressions that make this so funny :)

  • This part is out of her range. She has a very slow beat and isn't trying.

  • Hannah was brilliant when I went to see her. This video doesn't show just how good she was. In the West End British audiences don't really yell and laugh during the song like American audiences do. I never saw Sara but she was good too - they're both very different. Hannah was a bit more "British" so she was very popular here.

  • I've seen shows in the West End and they do laugh when it performance is funny. Hannah's delivery is what wasn't funny in this performance and she didn't seem to get the comedy so there were moments that she just lost.

  • I think Sara is better. She can really make the crowd burst into laughter, something that I noticed Hannah doesn't really do. I also think that Sara is a better singer, though Hannah is still very good. But the last few notes Hannah sang at the end were simply amazing.

  • one big difference between Sara and Hannah is the audience as Sara had an American audience which are normally louder and more boisterous.

  • I love Sara! But to be fair, Hannah, always wins HANDS DOWN. Always

I saw here in A little Night Music a couple months back, she was IMMENSE!! She is just FIERCE. End of!!!!!! XXX

  • Be lucky you didnt see Merle Dandridge as this role. She was SO BORING.

  • no way is ANYONE better than Hannah, I have the original soundtrack and have seen Hannah in the role twice... Hands Down Hannah EVERYTIME

  • i really love sara's version, but there's something about hannah's that is totally true to monty python's style.

  • Sara is much better. Vocally and acting wise. Sara just makes it funny.....hilarious actually. Props to Hannah..her voice is great, but Sara had the total package.

  • I am really not a fan of Hannah after having seen Sara Ramirez' perfomance. She turns out some really annoying notes when she tries to "talk" her way trough some of it.

She may be able to sing, but she puts a distance into the song, that doesn't belong there. It's directly aimed at the audience, not her own ego - It sounds as if she's singing for herself.

  • Well Sara is definitely better, but i think Hannah does it in her own unique way which i find quite entertaining, and the last couple of notes in this are really awesome.

  • nobody and I mean nobody can hit those notes like she can . Amazing. I have seen the show twice and it was fantastic both nights

  • Wasn't a huge fan of the acting, but those last few notes were amazing!

  • She is amazing!

  • Hannah is one classy lady! She has a fantasticly powerful & beautiful voice & is so funny! I can't see that anyone can be better than her.

  • Hannah is okay, but really lame. Sara Ramirez is the best lady of the lake!!!

  • Yes, for this song, Sara did a better job, and she was funnier.

  • i agree that Sara's vocals are better, but really you have to give credit to anyone cast as Lady of the Lake because it's one of the most challenging singing roles on Broadway I've ever heard

  • WE ADORE HER!!!!

    XX

  • er ending is bloody amazing!

  • yay, i saw her in new york -she's even more spectacular up close!

  • I have to say that the Australian actress was probably the best I've seen, but Hannah andd Sara are pretty good as well... they all are good =)

  • Oh, wow, she has an AMAZINGLY beautiful and strong voice and is really funny. Great job!

  • For the love of God, if Spamalot ever becomes a movie PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Hannah Waddingham have the role of the Lady of the Lake!! She is beautiful, amazing at singing and acting and deserves a GIGANTIC break. She is also one of the sweetest stars I ever met. I want to see her succeed and she is so great I don't even know how it would be possible if she didn't!

  • Wow! That was pretty amazing, and I love how she acted it!

  • no..i think sara is better. but yet again, i saw sara. i really wanna hear lauren keneddy sing this song again, cuz she was brilliant. and i was thinking, if they make this a movie, MEGAN MULLALLY AS LADY OF THE LAKE! how amazing would megan be in this role?

  • The difference I see is Ramírez plays it more passional, like pissed off as hell. Hannah plays it like calmed down. Anyway, love the end!!

  • HANNAH BEST BY 100%!! NO DOUBT

  • sara ramirez was meant for the part. . .but i will say this ending was pretty awesome. . .but otherwise SARA OWNS =] i love her

  • sorry she not a patch on amy field i saw her on monday night and amy blows her away..

  • SHE WAS UTTERLY AMAZING!!!! The best actress for that part ever!

  • good but no sara ramirez, but who is.

  • i saw herrrr :)

  • me 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how long ago?

  • last month 4 ma b-day

  • Hm, I don't know. Hannah is a great singer, no doubt about that, but I don't think her voice is suited to this song. Not angry/grumpy enough. =P

  • Yeah, she's no Sara Ramirez. Sara just WAS this part.

  • Totally agree - this is lacking something that sara had... Totally was her part through and through

  • I saw Hannah in this part on Broadway. She blew the roof off the Shubert Theater. Absolutely amazing!

  • that last part was the mose amzing thing ive herad in a long time was amazing

  • they changed the lyrics in all the versions now to not make fun of britney spears.they don't want to 'make fun of sad people'.

I don't know what to think of that.

  • They actualyl changed the part after the original Lady, Sara Ramirez, won her Tony award.

  • Well now it's Posh Spice.. Hannah made it funny when I saw it. She put in "I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want" in the little musical break. :D

  • victoria beckham is doing the london production?

  • noooooo

  • Actually, it was written that way...

  • I didn't know that =p

  • i love how some of the lyrics are changed for the london cast! its funny:)

  • how did they do all the broadway jokes on the west end?

  • Is that sarcasm? I can't tell. They used many of the same jokes, just changed some of the words, like:

a bunch of British Knights --> a bunch of stupid knights

you won't succeed on Broadway --> you won't succeed in Show Biz

  • Well, "broadway? you have been on broadway all this time"

that really dosent work well when your actually on the west end.

  • xD I know. I saw it on West End and when I listened to the soundtrack I noticed that many of the lyrics were different. Because, like you said, they really wouldn't talk about Broadway on West End.

  • WOW!! What a voice, the British actors/actresses makes u inspired!

    The Swedish actress

  • Nina Söderquist, the Swede is better she's got stronger voice.

    The baised Swede

Wasn't hannah in Lautrec in England?

  • You're not going to believe this but...

Clay Aiken is appearing with her on Broadway right now and he was out at the stage door one day recently signing autographs and she came out and walked behind him and grabbed his butt as she went by.

She is also telling people she didn't expect him to be so tall and "strapping."

  • LOL, that's typically something that Hannah would do.

  • I believe it. She seems like a very lively girl.

  • okay this is driving me crazy...Hannah Waddingham is the one on broadway right now...not the one in London...

  • She started in London, and then moved to the Broadway cast... What's driving you crazy?

  • I feel stupid because I wrote this and then realized that she moved from the london show to the broadway show...which is what I saw...I thought that people kept mixing up the names of the performers...oops...haha

  • i must say, she is better than the original

  • i agree

  • Im sorry, i agree with the majority. No offense, but Sara Ramirez is waaay better in this role.

  • I completely agree, I'm really rather sad that the video isn't up anymore.

    I miss it!

  • Sara Ramirez sings this better.

  • the end was great but Sara Ramirez owns this role

  • i saw her do this in NY, SO GOOOOOOD. she's amazing.

  • I wish i could finbd a video of Esther Stilwell doing this (i saw her in the tour cast in providence)

  • They also replaced Britney Spears with Posh Spice, because no one would believe they would want to replace her with Brit!

  • yep! i was there on thursday and she said posh spice! lol! it was so funny!

  • how did they rhyme that one??

  • thay diddnt OH wait the woman sang some abba so it rymed ! she made it work!

  • They repaced Britney Spears after the whole break down thing. They did it in WWRY as well

  • her "my paaaart" at the end is amazing!!!!

  • i know! and more fun to.

  • she gives it the "wicked ending"...is that on purpose? with the arms

  • im not sure but the higher note is fun to riff up.

  • imean with her arms! she throws them out and then in, as the elphebas do at the end of the Wizard and I mainly.

  • no i think many people do that on stage....could be a ssubttle que for the conductor lol, ive seen hanz liebkind do it in the producers lol

  • correction: *Franz Liebkind*

  • she sounds too old...

  • I was actually disappointed to see her performance in this video. I had expected to be blown away, but I like Sara Ramirez so much better!

  • I have seen the show and I do not like her!!! I loved the woman I saw and sara ramirez...I do not like her at all though. sorry...

  • why did they change the words???

  • because this shows in england so saying they were british knights was redundent and they also don't have the tony awards are american too

  • well several of the actors from the broadway production were british anyway....

  • now she's on broadway. I'm going to try to make it up there so that I can her.

  • wow!!!

  • How did you manage to film it???

  • I wish I could back in time and see the original cast on Broadway. Don't get me wrong; Hannah is great but Sara Ramirez is awesome!! I would love to see her perform this.

  • Hannah is incredible.

I wanted to leave but didnt as she was so incredible.

I would see it again for her. No other reason, shes phenominal. This audio isnt as good as mine.

    She was incredible!

  • This show, and this role in particular, are INCREDIBLY difficult to play well. Because the style of the piece is itself a parody, the actors must be extremely careful not to PLAY parody--or we get a PARODY of a PARODY which just doesn't work. It's a style that the actor either gets or doesn't. Sara GOT it! She did not PLAY a "scenery chewing force to be reckoned with"--She WAS a scenery chewing force to be reckoned with

  • i dont really care for her...

  • I saw the show and it was quite entertaining, but I was dozing at parts. But everytime Hannah stepped onstage I became completely alert. She absolutely stole the show!! FANTASTIC!!!

  • God this seems like a difficult audience to entertain! I feel sorry for Hannah!

  • omg she is ace! lol saw it the other week awesome!

  • Hannah is the best by miles her vocals are amazing saw the show and met her backstage as i know her very well she is the nicest person u could meet!! xx luv u hannah

  • original in london*

  • Hannah > just about everybody.

  • beautiful sound, but sara definitely tops this performance by FAR!!!

woah the last notes were hot tho

but just no, a lil boring - sara is just unbeatable sorry!

  • I saw her on Tuesday the 16th and seriously, she was excellent. She sounded much better than here and her acting looks excellent.

Hannah Waddingham is the best Lady of the Lake!

  • Ha, I hope you're joking!

    Hannah Waddingham beats everybody.

I mean, seriously, listen to those notes!

Plus her brilliant comic timing and the fact she manages to steal the show every night, even when Tim Curry was in the cast.

  • Wow! Isn't she fantastic? Really friendly too. I met her after the show and wrote about it in my blog johnalexwood.blogspot dot com (search for spamalot) and there are a few of my Spamalot photos on ShareNow dot com

  • Hannah! Yay! Best Lady of the Lake ever! If I wrote a musical I would insist she would play the lead!
