my issue is the fact that they are building houses so close together what idiot builds nice houses five feet from another house in my city they have codes for that
Oh holy hell, 3 cookie cutter homes on fire, I'm sorry but the 2 neighbors next to that house should hate the owner, I know I would. I'm so sorry for the losses.
It's really hard to imagine someone setting this fire to hurt their spouse. This could have turned out really bad from injury or death. Now the other people are suffering from the work of a crazy lady. Hopefully she is behind bars.
@fixedgearplanet if you want to fog up your facepiece then go ahead, i guess we do it a little different in new york, but you dont mask up until your goin in
@medicalmonkey Agreed! got to get a good quick primary search done 1st. The house is a goner, but there's a car in the garage. 1 3/4" line to protect the searchers then bigger water for the exposures. It's lightweight construction though with heavy fire in the attic, so when I say quick, I mean light speed. Risk a lot to save a lot, risk nothing to save nothing!(indyfiremedic)
This is one of the reasons I will never buy a house in a neighborood like this, where you're right up each others asses by a matter of a few feet. I want some space!!!
The woman who did this got arrested and now is in Jail and is getting mental help for deliberatley starting a fire with an animal in it. I was personally in school when this started to happen but the worst part was just starting when I got home. One of my friends homes got burned on the side and the woman actually ended up paying for it....She deserved every single sentence she got if not more!
There is big problem with these new plastic houses being built way to close to each other, and so there is a large potential for massive fires. firebreaks anyone?
i dont see how the trucks are in terrible placement they didnt have any other place to go and it seems that behind the houses there is just backyard and no roads.
Nobody was hurt. But the lady who started the fire, to get even on her cheating husband as I hear it, left their doberman inside. I had to coax the dog away before shooting this video. The dog was able to jump through a window - glass and all! It is unbelievable that somebody would deliberately start this fire with their pets inside.
@jakenieten Dang that's messed up! I would be soooooo pissed to find out that my house got toasted along with hers, just because of a beef with her husband!!! Did she get arrested?
@generfeld Yeah, no kidding. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are, they want revenge against one person so they cause harm to several other people in the process. I was at an apartment fire a few years ago where some dumbass wanted to seek revenge against one person who lived there and set the place on fire. That person wasn't even home at the time but several others were sleeping and had to be woken up to escape.
@alexandermakrianis wow that's so unfortunate. damn...some people are just like animals...no thought as to the effects of their unnecessary extreme actions. Hope none of your property was damaged...
@generfeld No, I was responding there as a firefighter. Fortunately I didn't live there, but I talked to one guy who moved there after his house burned down and then he had this happen. I especially felt bad for him.
@Larg127 I agree with you about the ladder truck placement however it is directly in front of the exposure on the delta side lol... But what a bad day right there Im glad no one got hurt. But I will be using this video for exposure protection, truck placement, and incident managment classes for my engine company. I hate that it comes at the expense of the loss of property but It makes up for it in Training value. To all my brothers be safe and remember Training saves lives.
To have a fully envolved attic fire on one with two exposure fire's upon arrival what an incident. I dont know any engine company that would be prepared for that. That is on of those incidents that can run away from you rapidly. Im glad they went for a defensive attack show that they used their brains. However I agree Truck placement was a huge factor in this and the first due Company didnt lay a line for attack operations. But I wasnt there who am I to say. At least they were safe about it.
Perfect example of where NOT to park your engine(s). Sad to see the loss of these homes due to lack of proper training on truck placement. I hope there was some ass chewing afterwards.
@Fireguy1020 It is unfortunate that the houses are so close together, but the house in which the fire was started was the only total loss. The others sustained damage that has already been repaired, while the main house still sits as a burnt shell to this day.
And another thing, For those talking about hustling....This is the reason we are getting killed is running on a fire scene and running into situations before looking at what the real picutre looks like instead of trying to be a "smoke eater" or whatever kind of hero anyone wants to be...I don't know about anyone else on here, but I love my family.
Also if i might add, which was said before....This was a arson fire and had a heavy head start prior to dispatch, before arrival all three of the houses shown were involved.
Terrible Truck placement. Towerladder/stick/quint should always go directly infront of fully involved house. The main house was gone when video started. Park ariel in front, fly it & start hitting from above. Set 2 1/2" lines on the exposures & contain the fire. Easier said from my cushy couch though. Glad nobody was hurt.
@arohn2007 Watch the video again. The Deck Guns are shooting water over the fire, not into the seat of the fire. They're not going to put anything out shooting them in the air like that. The only thing that is being accomplished is the super heated gases that are already vented from the fire are being cooled. Don't get me wrong, it's easy to Monday Morning QB these things. These guys pulled up to a battle that was already lost.
In the heat of the fire scene, the engine tends to sometimes set up right in front of the location, unless they back stretch or can side stretch to a close hydrant- me being a truckie, I hate that shit lol
@Larg127 Spoken like a true fireman, I agree with you dude, but like you said, its always easy to Monday Morning Quarterback, but then again, maybe they do things differently in Indiana...
this is what I hate about newer sub divisions they pack those houses in Ive seen some with just ten foot clearance in btween each house and thats here in Bay City Tx where space is plenty my neighborhood is a older one built in the sixties our houses have close to twenty foot clearance between each other.
this was not the first engine in fire they were mutial aid. the video dose not show down stairs of main house flash as first eng took line to the front door. the 1st engine took one 1 3/4 an made an attack on the fire as working up the stairs when roof colapised and command pulled crew out and went deffensive. as 2 guys worked inside other 2 took one 1 3/4 into house to the right an knocked the fire in upstairs. this fire was arson and was set by gas threw whole house an lit. also 30 mph winds
what are they afraid of,dont they know that the ladder truck is to be used to put out the fire, noooo they rather leave it alone and not bother using it guess they were not trained on how to use it,they better get trained to use it
sad...sad...sad...sad...sad...what is this a volunteer dept full of women???this is the type of fire where people need to hustle... i see this all the time. firefighters would rather read manuals than put out fires...it used to be how brave you are and today its how smart you are...not good...
@93CFD Dude your an idiot.....Women or volunteers have nothing to do with it. I agree this is the type of fire you need to hustle perhaps its there knowledge and experience holding them back.
I will take an intelligent firefighter anyday over some fossil who thinks we can still co into every new construction job.
@hdf561 ive never been called a fossil before... in fact, 10 minutes ago i didnt even know how to spell it... i prefer smoke eater... i dont know all the facts about this fire but it looks as though someone dropped the ball..10 years ago weda gone about extinguishment in a whole different way and at least had hand lines protecting the neighbors houses... and no,,, i would not have ran into the burning house ida put the stick up to extinguish that one...
@93CFD with this attitude i'm surprised about 3 things, You got a FF job 2nd You Aren't Dead 3rd You still have a FF its not always about running in & putting out the fire if you die you can't help any one or finish putting the fire out for that matter & then now you fellow fire fighters have to try & find/save you
@Un4GoTTeN343 if youda paid attention to what i said, you would have seen where i wrote that i would have put the stick up to extinguish this one...do you know what a stick is??? its the big ladder with water shooting out to put the fire out...
@ffjsb all i said was to get hand lines to the protect the exposures, hustle a lot more, and put up the stick for estinguishment... thats not risking life for property unless of course, the ladder falls over...
Holy crap put water on the exposures and get your ass inside, yes I said inside and stop the main fire. You know how we stop fire from spreading??? Attack it, the main seat of the fire. I look at these videos and I understand that I am not there but holy crap, Dont try to do the job if you are scared of fire!!!!!!!
@saradoman992 they fixed the green house that had also caught on fire. i am a resident of summerlake who lived next door to a house fire, but me and my family were lucky enough to not have our house caught on fire.
I haven't been able to sleep for the past two days, i have watched this video a hundred times plus, and i would really like to know the first engine on scene didn't make a aggressive attack or do a search seeing how there is a car parked in the garage? No water in the truck? JR members? Lack of experience? or just plain scared of seeing fire? or lack of training?
I am laughing at the response that was made from this post. Just so you know since you weren't there, There was a confirmation from multiple sources including the residences of these homes that it was all clear. The responding departments had 3 engines there within 8 mins. It was not lack of experience or lack of training. It was a great call by the IC to not get anyone hurt or killed over a lost property.
Watching this, and coming from an FD that stresses interior attack, what was the thinking of the OIC to attack the roof?
From all accounts, first due Engine should have had an easy time through the front door and the line officer would've been able to make a more valid assessment of the situation.
@scada4321 I guess when you're a firefighter for a while, you gain the experience to actually fight a fire. So I'm wondering, why go through the front door and not get the roof? Since the roof is on fire after all.
some may say I'm weird...but I just don't like that material the house is made of....all it is, is siding on top of flake board. Stick to brick. that siding burns so fast.
I live in a CP Morgan community in Ingalls, just a few miles away. One of the chief concerns I've had about these homes, and as this fire demonstrates, is that these homes were built too close to one another. One house catches on fire, the neighbors homes are guaranteed to as well.
why am i watching videos of houses being on fire
