  • Me, ahm Cajun too!

  • I see there is some discussion about how to pronounce the name Guillot. I have friends in New Orleans who pronounce their name GILL-yot and friends from Ascension Parish who pronounce their name GEE-yot and friends from Acadiana who say GEE-yo. It all depends on where you are from and the person whose got the name gets to decide what they think the correct pronunciation is.

  • Trow ma cow ova de fence sum hay

  • Also, I was hoping that the witness fellow would find a way to utter the phrase "Much mo' betta"

  • What is the point of showing that portly cop with the video camera in his hand? Twice?

  • hahaha sounds so cute

  • are you sure he's not just an old Spanish immigrant

  • That's the strongest Cajun accent I've ever heard!

  • @DavidL999 You think that is strong, You should hear my uncle and my maw maw's accent and there creole! They have some cajun decendents due to mixing! The black people here picked up on the french. You would have to ask them to repeat the words a million times.

  • looks like milton from office space

  • Now there is a real cajun accent.

  • @thecassl duh, that's the proper pronunciation. You not real bright, Texian!

  • thas a fuckin cajun!

  • The news reporter is trying so hard to speak American Engligh

  • I'm from central Arkansas and I actually understood him like 97%.

  • In fact I understood him 100%

  • American tv-reporters talk like muzak and I don't hear'em. It's a kind of constant flow with no tones. I'm from Sweden and we use tones in our language and I actually understand the old geezer.

  • i went and got MY pistol and put in MY pocket haha in case he come and buss my thor

  • I like how she interjects with an explanatory phrase after each of his statements.

  • Quebec sounding people in the states

  • Hi there,

Your absolutely right and I was completely wrong. It was ignorant of me to proclaim such a falsehood wrecklessly. My big mistake. Thanks for the correction and I am taking my comments down. Lesson learned, apologies.

  • I'm born and raised in appalachia, i wish our accents were this cool

  • Americans are cultureless stupid azzholes with no sense of respect and are bland and ignorant!

  • @mariostud i hope that ranting about america makes you feel better about your little fuck of a country, because in the real world if you fucked with us, we will invade your fucking ass

  • @mercturd85 You'll be invaded by latinos first.

  • @Saruman38 like i said, take it up with the government, not youtube

  • I realize the news lady isn't Cajun, and the Cajuns themselves probably don't care, but I really wish they would pronounce their names correctly.

    It's not "GEE-yott". It's gee-YO.

    NO "T".

I wonder if she says Illinoiss as well.

  • @baillou2 retard i'm from south louisiana and it is GEE-yott no gee-YO

  • @adupre94

But it's a French name. I'm just saying the French pronunciation is gee-YO. You can pronounce it however you wish. It just sounds stupid to a French ear. Kinda like when French people pronounce Smith as Smeet.

  • @SomeDudeQC Nobody who lives in the US will have an American last name.... unless you are Native American.

  • @cjleger337 It depends what you consider 'American'. In my opinion, whether your name is English, Dutch, German, Spanish or French, it's all American as long as you butcher the original pronunciation. That's a joke.

  • @SomeDudeQC Haha, my last name gets butchered constantly. Leger.... not that hard!

  • @cjleger337 You must get leaguer and ledger all the time!

  • @SomeDudeQC Well in South LA, they typically get it right, now as for the rest of the world (incluing North LA) my name is about as foreign to them as a two dollar bill.

  • @cjleger337 haha yea i know what you mean man i guess ur last name is leger? im frome south la and im a breaux

  • @DBro222 yep, its Leger. Im from Scott,LA

  • @cjleger337 hmm.. im from cameron what parish is scott

  • @cjleger337 Im from good old crowley

  • @baillou2

Pourtant, au Québec, j'aurais dit "Gui-LLOTTE"

  • @baillou2 They're not speaking french, it's Cajun, totally different. Why don't you go tell the Cajuns that they're not saying things right and see what happens to you, frenchie.

  • @CherokeeMarty We will drag dat out the car and throw dat in de bayou an the alligators gonna eat dat.

  • @CherokeeMarty

I'm 100% born and raised American... retard.

  • @baillou2 let me guess you're talking about the last name guillot

  • @adupre94 Yes, this is definitely a french name, so before calling someone a retard, you should check your sources...

You may pronounce it one way, but this guy's name has no US origins...

  • @adupre94

Retard im the son of a frech women and a black american marine who was born in strassbourg and its pronounced gee-yo not gee-yott !

  • @baillou2 Thank You , you like explained everything i wanted to say for me !

  • ha, if only everyone spoke this way

  • Some cajuns have black in them, they are called Sabine's. Some cajuns have french in them,The Indians called them Connasse, or Coon Ass. Creole people are of black, french and Indian races. They were the first to settle in Louisiana. I have only ever seen Black "Creole" people. Most of whom are VERY dark in color. The cookin' is DAMN good!

  • @Stikznstemz cool...in some small french islands in the caribbean a 'sabine' or 'shabeen' is a lightskinned girl (so iim guessing those of african and french heritage)

  • @Stikznstemz You are misinforming people. Most Cajuns are Acadian French, maybe some have German admixture or Indian admixture, but rarely Black. Some may, but it's not common. Creole people on the other hand, in the New Orleans area, it means someone native to New Orleans whether White or Black. In South Louisiana, it is sometimes used as a mixed race person. Creole in New Orleans can be a White person of French/Spanish heritage.

  • @IslenoGutierrez

I'm Cajun French and Acadian French speakers hail from Canada.

  • @AzaHazexxx I am Canary Islander Spaniard and Cajun French.

  • @Stikznstemz SOME Cajuns have French in them? ALL Cajuns have French in them. Cajuns are white descendants from French people in Canada. They have no black or Indian in them, unless they're mixed with something. But a true Cajun is descended only from French. Creoles on the other hand will have some African and Spanish in them.

  • bonjour a nos cousins cajun

  • I think the broadcaster did it. He has a totally evil demeanor.

  • The Acadians/Cajuns are special people to the United States and they contribute to the uniqueness of the U.S. Lousiana has not only strong French languistic and cultural roots, but it also has a French Civil Law system which is different than the English Common Law system. This means that Louisiana does not have judicial precendent, instead everything is codified in codes. It is really interesting to read about.

  • @Ryanyarb24 Do they follow the Napoleonic Code like Quebec?

  • @SomeDudeQC

Yes we do. It kinda sucks if you're a law student here because you have to go back to law school to practice anywhere else.

  • @SomeDudeQC sure do mayne fucced up roun here cousin

  • im a half Cajun, livin in kentucky, but it cant compare to louisiana

  • i thought cajuns had some black in them

  • you might be thinking of creole , however some creoles, might also be directly from france with an abscence of that leniage

  • @DBadomJR nope. Cajun and Creole are not races they are cultures/ethnicities.

  • @DBadomJR Cajuns have no black in them. They have nothing in them but French. Creoles have black in them. Cajuns are generally dark complected, however.

  • @jbp1586 Not true... Pre-expulsion, some Acadians intermarried with Mikmaq Indians and even a few British soldiers. Of course, once in Louisiana, lots of mixing between Spanish, German, and other early colonists began taking place.

  • We have a lot of love for the Louisiana Cajuns up here in Maine. :)

  • @CavllNorthNorth damn right

  • @CavllNorthNorth Maine is right next to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, I'm sure you meet their cousins the Acadians i suppose?

  • @CavllNorthNorth do you really? we dont really hear much about maine..

  • @CavllNorthNorth gen sak pase, :)

  • I thought cajuns were french/native... like mexican is spanish/native

  • i am caun and i live in louisiana. we dont talk like this. sometimes when we speak a few words talk like that. we speak like normal.

  • lol...don't fool yooself :P

  • When you say "we," you probably mean the younger generation. The older generation still talks like dat, fa sho.

  • You are not a 100% Cajun as long as you don't speak French.

  • anywhere i go (on the internet) and search for "acadian" or "cajun" every post starts with this sentence: "they are the coolest people alive."

and to be honest. their accent is pretty cool, and Gambit is supercool. and the french are way nicer and funnier people then the british.

  • you mean french french, or french canadian or cajun?

cause if you mean french french, i think you've never been to france.

thats where they pretty much invented arrogance.

  • of course, no one likes the french french:)

  • @davesajo Fuck you.

  • @jiggyproto Yeah, but Americans and Brits have largely caught up with us in terms of arrogance.

  • "And now we cut back to our news anchor, and his now-obvious non-regional dialect!"

  • Cajun accents are awesome!

  • i remember watchin dis on channel 3 news. katc

  • goddamn, ignorant fucks on here, eh?

louisiana isn't full of dumbasses. every area has dumbasses, no matter what. & god, have respect for that elderly man, just a good ol' cajun!

  • Dude, you guys, that's my Grandpa:(

    Backoffff

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think Cajuns speak with that strong of an accent. I dont think they've spoken like that since the 1940s. This guy is probably an immigrant, and not native to lousiana

  • not EVERYONE speaks this way, but yes it's true...some do. My family is from avoyelles parish and they all have an accent. It depends on where you visit.

  • That guy is a pure cajun, married to my cousin. He is tied to the Joe and Cleoma Falcon family who are pioneers in Cajun music. He is the father of swamp pop artist Johnnie Alan.

  • @AliSuperstar, yes is a native. Only the natives speak with such dialect. His parents probably knew 0 English. He was taught English in scho\ol where he probably got spankings if he spoke french. Majority of Senoir Citizens is So. La. speak with this accent. If not all.

  • he said it appened in acadie not cajun thats acadien talk

  • fuck no it aint

louisiana the greatest state, cajun motherfuckers are the best

my last name, is mayeux motherfucker

  • bru thats what im talkin about.

  • Yeah Louisiana is the greatest state my ass I'm from southwest Louisiana and I have great shame in this dumbass state! Why in the hell did my ancestors have to move here why can't I have been from a state like Cali or NY? Louisiana is just a dumb state full of retards like this fool in the video and stupid hicks like dko71166! Stupid hillbilly fucks won't ever amount to shit!

  • fuck you every one from califagia or new york are fuckin fags down here in louisiana we fuckin work for what we get bitch if u aint glad u from the south then fuck you is all I have to say

  • aww the little dumb Cajun replied back but he can not spell just proves my point that Louisiana should not even be on tv or anywhere eles including here! Go back to school and get out of the craw fish pond jackass

  • bitch who gives a fuck if its on tv you belong in california with all the pussies and queers FUCK YOU

  • @ZendallFan

Do you realise how many grammatical errors are in your text? I decipher what you are meaning to say, however as grammar gives meaning & context to a sentence, I wonder who really needs to go back to school here.

  • wow i don't remember this conversation being with you, why don't u shut the fuck up and mind your business!

  • @ZendallFan

well no wonder you're ashamed..you're from the southwestern part of the state. Lafayette (area) can be a joke sometimes. some of them are arrogant cause they think they're from the "heart of French Louisiana"...Some of them think they're true cajuns when they don't know the first thing about working on a shrimp boat or surviving in the wilderness or speaking Louisiana French, for that matter..buncha city folk in Lafayette. Some of them make us true cajuns look like a joke...

  • @ZendallFan cont...

...That said, what have you amounted to?? I'm curious. You complain that Louisiana is hell and you wish that you were born somewhere else...So, do something about it! If it's so horrible down here, move away! I did. I lived in Los Angeles for 2 years, and it was great and all, but trust me, Southern California isn't all it's cracked up to be. Everyone there is made of plastic and they sure aren't nearly as hospitable over there as they are here...

  • @ZendallFan cont...

...Though I don't plan on living in Lafourche parish for the rest of my life, I'm proud of my rich heritage! People like you make me laugh! You complain about the situation you were born into but you don't do crap about it. As I said before, if you don't like it here, move away..or at least start working toward something better...but again, I promise you, speaking from experience..California and New York aren't as glamorous as you're making them out to be in your mind.

  • @ZendallFan

    I'm not done! haha

To answer your question "Why in the hell did my ancestors have to move here why can't I have been from a state like Cali or NY?": Hahaha, you have no idea what your ancestors had to go through to assure your freedom from the tyrannical English empire! Assuming you're of Acadian descent, the story of your ancestors is one of bravery and conviction....

  • Respect to your Acadian heritage!! That is indeed a brave history!

  • the had a tragic history, the have been deported by the british from Acadia, the east of the canada, for those who don't know!

As a french Canadian from Québec, i am proud to see that after all this time they can still speak a little bit of french!

So yes, respect your acadian heritage and don't let the french die in Louisianna!

To all the acadian from United State, this is a part of your patrimonial heritage, don't stop to speak french

  • Hello my friend. I'm not Acadian myself, but this is a part of American history that I'm just now starting learn about.

You guys didn't do so bad yourselves back in the Seven Years War.

I definitely would like to learn more.

  • @suryavajra I'm not your friend, buddy!!

  • i don't think I was talking to you....Why don't you lighten up? I used more as a figurative term as opposed to literal. Would you rather that I started the address as, ''Hey You!''....i thought not..lol1
