Yep, I was at this concert too and was bruised, battered, elated and exhausted the next day but this was tempered by the fact I got this bootleg video a couple of weeks later from a guy in the poster part of the old Oasis store in town (Brum).
I went to a Moz concert last week. Most of the people there were unattractive or gay or both. The people that did have dates had wierdo dates. I wonder where I fit in. The smiths were so cool. The band, the crowd so full of life.
They were called Raymonde and yes, I remember thinking at the time how crap they were. But that was probably because all I wanted to see were The Smiths so 45 minutes of tediuos posturing just delayed that. Awesome gig though, the single blue spotlight as that eerie operatic vocal started the intro, then the Montagu and Capulet overture and then BANG "The Queen is Dead" rang out and the craziest manic surge to the front to try and get near the band. 23 years on it still gives me goosebumps......
I think that possibility has pretty much sailed away forever. The reason. Morrissey. Simply Moz. But oh my word. To dream of it. I wouldn't be able to contain myself and i would go wee wee uncontrollably!
I've got this gig on VHS, it's great ( has a version of I Know It's Over that io can't seem to find anywhere else) - but I have no idea how to convert a VHS tape onto my mac.
Greatest band ever. Fuck the Beatles.

I've never really associated the Smiths with hardcore.

no, i'm referencing your attention to detail as being a "hardcore" fan...

The look on Morrissey's face near the beginning, where you see the end of the fan's embrace of him, is awesome. It's sheer glee etched on his face.
