@danzapification A normal tide happens twice a day. This tide went in & out twice in SEVEN MINUTES. Only an earthquake can cause this. Please learn some basic facts about the sea.
Thanks for documenting this. Familiar with that beach, stay up Tanbark Way just above Salt Point park. Am now watching Fukushima Diary website daily for the truth.
@abus777 Thanks for the comment, but I think you're missing the point. The remarkable occurrence here is the continuous in-and-out action of the sea in such a short period of time... not how far in the waves come, or how big they are.
@KrazyKali69 Yes, absolutely. Many beaches along the northern California coast are especially notorious for pulling people in. This is mainly due to the sudden, sharp drop off of the sea floor.
i was going to say that looked like a normal tied change to me. but then i read the disscription. pretty crazzy stuff! we didnt get anything liek that up on the west coast of bc.
Good job ghesstifer !!! Perfect professional images! Tsunami doesn't always mean 15m waves. It could reach as little as 1foot high and it's still being called tsunami as long as it's caused by massive earth or ground movements... That's it.
So for March 11, 2011, the low tides occured at 9:21am and 8:47pm according to a California data base. That's 11 hrs and 26 mins, for the mathematically challenged. In this video, assuming we are simply observing the tide, as many have suggested, there are not only two low tides, but an additional high tide as well. Therefore, the total elapsed time would be about 18 hrs if this was simply the tide. I didnt see a change in solar position, or a change is shadow location for objects in frame.
@TheAuzzyboy I know it was sped up you dick, those would have to be some fucking fast waves if it wasn't. The point is that it was a 7 minuet long video to start with, and for the tide to come in that fast there would have to be something seriously wrong . Learn how to read retard
@TheAuzzyboy yes it did ffs, google it, tsunami reaches cali. And what about the bird on the right hand side that wanders into shot, that would have to be one slow ass seagull to hang around while the tide came in
We had the same thing here on Vancouver island (directly north of you). I think it was measured at 1 meter in height. I agree... it's amazing. One perspective is that it affected the entire Pacific ocean... which is 30% of the Earths surface! Wow!
Fret not regarding negative comments! Stupidity is science and biology all wrapped up in a retarded little package. Enjoy the fact that you can recognize it without participating in it.
I was in Mexico during this, tide filled and drained completely all day, probably every 15 minutes. Crazy to watch if you live on the coast and are used to watching the tide fill over hours and hours
A tide cycles over a period of 12 hours retards..... watch the cloud over the cliff face in the background, this cycle is clearly only 7 minutes. Obviously the tsunami had pretty much dissipated by the time it hit shore, but you can still see it....
@TheMonkeesRock Hello, friend, thanks for the comment. How many times have you seen a normal tide go in and out twice in the span of 7 minutes? Yes, you are correct, the footage is sped up (as is mentioned before the video begins). But the total real time duration of the event is only 7 minutes. That is, SEVEN minutes. Siete. Sept. @RockMonster1000 No, numbnuts, I had to change the description after all the ignorant/brainless comments I received, ones much like yours. Originally, I had no description. You, like some of the others on here, simply do not understand what this video represents, even after reading the description. However, I'm glad that you all make your stupid comments. HINT: the more views and activity on this video, the more money I get. CHA-CHING! Joke's on you, fool. ;)
@ghesstifer Why so serious? I'm happy that you're making money off youtube guy. I just said what I liked about your presentation. It is a lame video though, sorry for telling the truth jeez.
Tickles is a dork. If you knew anything about high and low tides you would know that the time laps was not long enough to say it was normal. You can obviously see the effects of the tsunami here. Its not like in japan but it is defiantly not normal wave patterns. Thank you for sharing this video GHess.
I noticed the rapid change in the tide (retreating before coming back again). I am quite aware of how tsunamis work. And yes, I know they can travel several thousand miles. Of course, by the time they get that far, they're generally not quite as large. They still provide an interesting spectacle of nature's fury tho. Thanks for posting.
@weAreTheToothFairy Within seven minutes? Tide cycles happen Every Twelve hours if I'm correctCorrect me if I'm wrong, but this does not look like tides to me.
there is nothing anusual abouth this video. acording to my calculations the and analisis of the footage it seems like the tide was a normal tide that comes in every 5 minutes.. u can see that there is sand around and the sand seems to be wet before the tide came in...and to complete my analisis the water stopd right at the inprint of the sand... cant fool me lol...
@Pitkona ... no, I am not joking. But thank you for the comment. I've received many similar comments, so this prompted me to update the description of the video. Before leaving such inflammatory comments, please do some research. If you had, you'd see that this is, by definition, a tsunami and was a direct result of the Japanese earthquake that occurred 7,500 miles away. And by the way, it is spelled "ridiculous." That is a common spelling error amongst the illiterate. Good day.
@ghesstifer LOL! Why do you need a Phone number to EXPLAIN something YOUTUBE allows you VIDEO and ALL the space you need for an explanation! Just post vids of something you KNOW something about! Suckmy poopy covered COCK! btw... your mom won't sit for a month! oopsy!idiot! GROW up and LEARN befroe you SHIT on here!
@NowForTruth Hey buddy, you are correct, it does look like the tide. The only difference is that this full-tide cycle that you see occurred in just SEVEN minutes. It was very bizarre, and was a direct result of the earthquake in Japan. Thanks for watching.
@MrLangstar Hello Sir, I'm not sure you entirely understand how a tsunami works. What you see in my video that occurred in just seven minutes would you usually take an entire day. Its not about "big waves." The millions of dollars of damage done in Santa Cruz was not because of "big waves." Look it up pal.
@ghesstifer In 7 minutes a huge freight carrying ship or cruise liner could have gone past somewhere in the nearby waters and created your so called "Tsunami".... there is more than one explanation or the build up and recession of the tide u know... i dont care even if it didnt happen like that, but i bet theres thousands of videos with the tide doing exactly what it did in this video. .
@rhymezgalore Wow, we have a regular Einstein here! You are so smart, friend. I often see cruise ships that create continuous full-tide cycles for a period of over 12 hours just by sailing by a cove... you deserve an award for this finding.
@ghesstifer Is Einstein the smartest Scientist u know lol ok i dont want an award, iwant to know why u think this is a Tsunami when it hasnt even left past the shoreline onto land.. this wouldnt even be the lowest case of Tsunami. More like Tsu with no Nami
@ghesstifer I Sure do. Tsunami are large sea waves caused by earthquakes, undersea landslides, volcanic eruptions or even large objects, such as meteorites, falling into the sea.
They can travel at about 600 km an hour across deep oceans (as fast as some jet planes), and can be 10-30 metres high when they reach land.
@rhymezgalore Well, you see, your definition is only partly accurate. Based on this partial knowledge, you have decided to insult my video. The part of your definition that is inaccurate is the part that tsunamis are "large sea waves," the key word there being "large." That isn't necessarily true. The tidal behavior you see in my video is a DIRECT result of the earthquake in Japan. It is a series of waves caused by a large displacement a water... a tsunami.
@rhymezgalore Small-brained people such as yourself fail to realize why I posted this video. It was not to be a smart ass and make a joke of the devastating waves that crippled Japan. It was simply to show the magnitude of that earthquake... that even thousands and thousands of miles away, it had a direct impact on the west coast of the United States. Got it now?
I don't mean to be negative, but this simply looks like a high tide to low tide transition.

that was nothing more than a few larger than nom waves

@MrLangstar Hello Sir, I'm not sure you entirely understand how a tsunami works. What you see in my video that occurred in just seven minutes would you usually take an entire day. Its not about "big waves." The millions of dollars of damage done in Santa Cruz was not because of "big waves." Look it up pal.

@ghesstifer yeh sorry bout that, i shouldn't of wrote it now that i watched it again,
my heart does go out to all of those affected by it

@rhymezgalore Are you 100% sure you know what a tsunami is? Really, are you 100% sure?
ghesstifer 9 months ago
@ghesstifer I Sure do. Tsunami are large sea waves caused by earthquakes, undersea landslides, volcanic eruptions or even large objects, such as meteorites, falling into the sea.
They can travel at about 600 km an hour across deep oceans (as fast as some jet planes), and can be 10-30 metres high when they reach land.
Is there anything else?
rhymezgalore 9 months ago

Got it now?
