I knew Deep Purple's original and I must say: this one is good, but... Ian Gillan's voice is just unmistakeable... Deep Purple is too much the best to be compared with other, younger bands, even if they're also fantastic, that's all :)

Blind Guardian didn't make a cover. Hansi just decided that he was too awesome for mankind, so this song would have eliminated 97% of the population due to an overwhelming amount of epicness. So, he let Deep Purple do it before them so, that the mortals could get used.

Deep Purple is more Rock than Metal but, how can you hate 1 yet love the other? Rock is slower and doesn't harsh vocals for the most part but it's still very similar to Metal in many ways. Rock came before Metal and influenced it.

Somebody was bashing this version saying blind guardian made it into "some Metal crap" but Deep Purple is one of the bands who laid groundwork for early Metal bands. LOL, nevermind my comments and enjoy the song. Both bands are awesome.
