@QibingZero nope, every hit he made was recently reviewed by the nhl after don cherrys comments about scott stevens. brendan shanahan, the leagues new disciplinarian, commented that EVERY ONE of stevens hits would be legal in TODAYS nhl, the exception being the kariya hit which he said would have been something they MIGHT have had to look at, and only on the grounds it might have been a half a second too late, and that is very debatable. keep hating haters, miss out on the greatest hitter ever!

Scott Stevens if my favourite NHL player of all time but even I know that he does blind checks which is penalized by the legue. I'm not saying he does cheap hits I'm just saying that the NHL has gone sooo soft. The NHL now allows people to enter your blueline with your head down... Kind of a big part of hockey is to keep your head up.

Most of his hits were clean by NHL standards of that time. Anyone who says differently are ignoring the fact that he never got suspended for any of his hit. With instant replay the league can review and dissect any hit and identify any illegal acts.

I know the physics of a hit make you want to be up above the other person's center of gravity, so you're inclined to go higher on the body, but Steven's has a consistent knack for burying that shoulder in a guys chin. Its a good looking hit still intent on injury, and I question its integrity. It damaged if not ended several star careers.

This hit would be called a hit to the head today as the shoulder pad hit his head. The only problem with this is that a player coming on the right wing may get the puck and score when Stevens would hit a guy already covered. If Stevens missed his check the player had more space to skate and more time to shoot, but Stevens seemed to pick the right moment to check.
