People keep complaining about rising healthcare cost, but they fail to realise that 3/4's of this increase iis directly attributable to unpaid medical expenses incured by illegal aliens. they don't pay and the cost is passed on directly to us thru increased medical cost and higher premiums. That's why we have a 30% increase in California, but it applies everywhere.

Look health insurance is high because healthcare cost are high and rising. Even if you shift premiums from private to Gov. You still have high cost care and it is still rising. This bill gives $338 billion of you tax dollars to insurance companies to subsidize the exchange. It is cost shifting premiums but does nothing to lower actual healthcare cost. Worse this bill forces every citizen into a contract w/ private insurance or gov to buy a product or service they may not want or need.

What is wrong with subsidies? It is your money. Right now if we had to pay our debt off they would have to raise taxes 230%. We are broke. The bigger the Government gets the stag net the economy stays. We are already headed for high taxes and inflation. Our unemployment rate is not going to come down any time soon. We can't afford another entitlement program that will break the middle class. We need reform not an expansion of our failed system.

Insurance profits aren't huge and stay close to the same % each year. This bill bails out insurance with $338 billion (of your money) in subsidies to set up an exchange for 7% who can't afford insurance. This bill does nothing to deal with why HC cost are so high and rising. It is not reform and will cost you more.

The simple solution would have been a public option/ medicare buy in/ drug price negotiations/ import cheaper drugs. Medicare is broke. Gov already sets the prices for 1/2 the HC sector directly and the other 1/2 indirectly. They control production and consumption thru regulations. They have done a lousy job of keeping down cost. 50% of Dr. don't take medicaid and 30% won't take new medicare patients. More and more hospitals won't take medicare. Very few take medicaid. Reimbursement rates from Gov. are in below actuall cost. Those loses are shifted to the private sector. The system is broke

Medicare reimbursement rates for many procedures are below actual hospital cost. So that cost is shifted to higher prices for the private side. Even if you shift premiums from private to government you still have high actual care cost that are rising. This bill does nothing to cut actual healthcare cost. Even with the private side paying to cover loses in medicare , medicare is broke.

I was not totally clear on what I was saying. W was thrown a curve ball by 9-11, and did do a lot to keep us safe. And I admire him for sticking to his faith even though he came under fire for it. I should been more clear. FISCALLY when the first proposed bailout (by the as of 2006 Dem majority) came across his desk, he should have been more careful; instead he spent like a wild man. Look health insurance is high because healthcare cost are high and rising. Even if you shift premiums from private to Gov. You still have high cost care and it is still rising. This bill gives $338 billion of you tax dollars to insurance companies to subsidize the exchange. It is cost shifting premiums but does nothing to lower actual healthcare cost. Worse this bill forces every citizen into a contract w/ private insurance or gov to buy a product or service they may not want or need.

You do know Gov. already sets the prices for 1/2 the healthcare sector and controls production and consumption thru regulations and mandates that reduce choice and competition and drive prices up.Government restricts many aspect in healthcare that a real free market would drive down cost. Inc co. lobby congress to pass legislation that benefit them and the politicians at consumers expense. However Insurance goes up because healthcare goes up. Insurance profits aren't huge and stay close to the same % each year. This bill bails out insurance with $338 billion (of your money) in subsidies to set up an exchange for 7% who can't afford insurance. This bill does nothing to deal with why HC cost are so high and rising. It is not reform and will cost you more.

@quizerry I don't like the bill as it is at all. As far as healthcare insurance costs, the CEO's make massive sums, while denying care. The simple solution would have been a public option/ medicare buy in/ drug price negotiations/ import cheaper drugs. Any or all of those options are doable, but the Government doesn't give two shits about the people, Dem or Repub.

Medicare is broke. Gov already sets the prices for 1/2 the HC sector directly and the other 1/2 indirectly. They control production and consumption thru regulations. They have done a lousy job of keeping down cost. 50% of Dr. don't take medicaid and 30% won't take new medicare patients. More and more hospitals won't take medicare. Very few take medicaid. Reimbursement rates from Gov. are in below actuall cost. Those loses are shifted to the private sector. The system is broke

This bill does Nothing to fix the problems of high cost healthcare. It just expands our failed system and will cause even higher premiums and taxes. All to cover 7% of the population. And give government more power to screw it up worse. There is NOTHING in it that will lower cost.

Medicare reimbursement rates for many procedures are below actual hospital cost. So that cost is shifted to higher prices for the private side. Even if you shift premiums from private to government you still have high actual care cost that are rising. This bill does nothing to cut actual healthcare cost. Even with the private side paying to cover loses in medicare , medicare is broke.

We have a private market for 1/2 our system but private isn't a free market when Government calls all the shots. Sense Gov. got a heavy hand in healthcare cost have risen above inflation.

It is sad that such a huge bill has no support by one party and the other party has to give sweet heart deals to get votes. The Majority of American does not see this bill as reform. We want reform to find the faults with the system and fix them to lower cost for all. A year of wasting tax payer money for the worst bill ever written in the History of the U.S.A.
