Agreed...he is one of the all-time greats. But why is his guitar always so low in the sound mix? In watching many Purple vids (including this one), it almost seems like he is hiding the sound of his guitar on purpose. :(

People don't truely understand how good Blackmore was!!!! EVH,SRV,Vai, etc are great but haven't really listen to the less advertised guitarist. Love Blackmore as a guitarist. My favorite is Jeff Beck but these guys are the ones who paved the rock guitar sounds in the 60's & 70's.

Well, I have listened to all the famous ones: Vai, Satriani, Hammet, Van Helen, Petrucci. But none of them has as much impact as Blackmore.

Petrucci has created a faster version of Highway Star solo, but still it will not drive you crazy. That gift of driving the audience crazy belongs to only Blackmore.

Blackmore has given us some legendary guitar..that said,here he overplays a lot and loses a groove but then he's coming from the 60's and it really isn't fair to hold his unique style of his day to today's evolution of effects/skills,etc.Even in 85 he'd already been the long time guitar hero and a new wave of styles had came about.Blackmore's a great guitarist,esp good with classical baroque,medieval stuff.He IS a trippy dude though...known to lose it on occasion.Some stuff here is cool,some not

The first part had me wondering What the hell is he doing? I mean really..talk about

loosing it. Insead of slowing down till he had control and focused, he sped up and laughingly messed it up even more.

The piece at the end was just as bad. Ritchie's been my favourite Guitar Slinger since '69, along with a few other gifted players...but the stuff in the middle was good.

He was just having a bad night or some kind of tantrum over not being able to crack any chak-ras for some time now..lol

I just met Ritchie a couple of days ago. he is a huge Page fan and was very kind and humble. The best guitar player is the one who's having the most fun, but that's just my opinion. I also think it is in the nature of art to defy comparison and competition.

@libano90 Premesso che i Led Zeppelin e i Deep Purple sono i miei gruppi preferiti insieme alla Jimi Hendrix Experience e che Blackmore è uno dei chitarristi che mi piacciono di più, a mio parere Blackmore è di sicuro superiore in tecnica, ha composto ottimi riff e pregievolissimi assoli...ma (come diceva Page) quello che contano sono le emozioni..ed è per questo che reputo IMHO Page superiore.Inoltre è proprio con quel suono sporco targato Les Paul e Marshall che ha inventato un genere.
