@kubush If that is so, and you ARE right, when we die, I'll just rot in the ground after wasting my life believing in a "fairy tale". However, if, when we die- I was right on believing in Christ and worshipping Him, and YOU were wrong- I'll have heaven and you'll have hell to pay. Are you willing to risk everything of your soul for that?
@southwriter Or maybe the Muslim faith is the correct one! OMG, you're right! I should be a Muslim! You know, just in case! I guess you're going to convert to Islam now, cuz I know you don't want to risk your eternal soul!
@southwriter ...? ...but according to your, oh so persuasive and logical argument, you should believe for fear of the possible Muslim hell you would have to go to if you didn't. So are you telling me that the threat of hell and hedging your bets isn't convincing to you? Hm....
@southwriter Buddhists and Jews don't believe in hell. You are proposing Pascal's wager and make the false assumption that believing in Christianity is more reasonable because there is only one other alternative and it is "safer" to believe in Christianity. Well lets suppose that a God exists that rewards skepticism and punishes blind belief, then wouldn't it be safer to be an atheist? Or suppose the Islam is true....
@kubush Jews do believe in a hell. And, there's not a single solitary line in either the Old or New Testaments that backs up a claim about skepticism in God. In fact, just the opposite. A "fence straddler" like yourself is in worse trouble. "So, because you are neither cold (against God) or hot (zealot for God), I will spew you out of my mouth"- Rev. 3:16. And, just because Buddhists don't believe in hell, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
@southwriter WRONG, Jews don't believe in hell. Get your facts straight. And what makes you think that I was refering to the bible??? You said that it is safer to believe in Christianity; and I am saying, "what if Christianity is wrong and that the real god that exists punishes people that accept the false teachings of the bible"? Then you wouldn't be "safer", now would you? Why can't you understand this simple concept? Christianity isn't the only religion or belief that exists.
@kubush Jews don't believe in a literal hell like Christians do, but they do believe in a place of eternal punishment (hell) for people, like Hitler, who have done evil in their lives.
@southwriter There is no eternal punishment in Jewish theology. The closest thing would be a place of purgatory that lasts up to 12 months, not eternity. According to Christian theology, Hitler may very well be in Heaven if he accepted Jesus before he died. Not a very just system, is it?
@kubush Hitler was NOT a Christian!! He was born and raised Catholic, but he gave it up early on and completely renounced it later in life! He didn't just put Jews to death- he put many Catholics to death, anyone who stood up against him! Don't start spreading lies about history! I'm a historian, so don't go re-writing history to win an argument you lost long ago.
@southwriter Historian? LOL! Go back to school. "My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter." Hitler 1922 "The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity." Hitler 1934.
Hitler was a Christian. Now stop trying to rewrite history.
@kubush That, idiot, was said by Hitler to win more people over to his side. In actuality, he had sworn off Christianity long ago! You're the liar here. Hitler hated Christians, as did Stalin, and . . . you.
@southwriter Well, I provided direct quotes from Hitler and you have provided....? Assertions? Hitler never renounced his Christianity. Nor was he ever excommunicated from the Church. For someone that hates Christians he has a funny way of showing it by forcing Christianity on the military and schools, and enforcing church doctrine, even outlawing abortion because the church mandated it. Hitler was a Christian.
@kubush "National Socialism (Nazi) and religion can NOT exist together . . . the heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of CHRISTIANITY. I read the ONE website wher you got your info, which is an atheist website. Most all others, including Wikipedia, of all places, give very strong evidence that Hitler was NOT a Christian. He did use Christianity in his speeches because he knew that the majority of Germans were Catholic Christians. I also realize that you are also a Communist.
@kubush Many others close to him refuted Christianity along with him. ONCE AND FOR ALL, Adolf Hitler was NOT a CHRISTIAN! That is your Communist diatribe. He may have SAID so, but he SAID a lot of things to win votes or people to his side. The majority of Germany is catholic, and he had to do a snowjob on them! Just because he said so doesn't mean it was true. This also has nothing to do with your idiotic atheism. If you really believe and equate Hitler and Christianity as the same, you're evil.
@southwriter No Hitler was a person, Christianity is a religion, they aren't the same thing. Your religion is evil. Your bible is evil. Your bible condones slavery, instead of condemning it. It's sexist. Even the underlying theology is inherently evil. The god you believe in is petty, caring only about how much praise and worship he gets, willing to condemn ppl to eternal torture if they refuse. You're pathetic for accepting such an evil religion.
@kubush You know what I meant by Christianity and Hitler- don't hairsplit. You'll learn the truth on your very last breaths of life. I only hope you'll reconsider before then. There's nothing evil about love. You are the most saddest and pathetic person I've ever come across.
@southwriter And what makes you think your religion and the bible is all about love? Have you even read the bible? How is splitting babies over rocks, "love"? How is teaching that you can beat your slave as long as they don't die within the first few days, "love"? If you think that is "love" than you are morally bankrupt.
@kubush You're referring to the Old Testament, I'm referring to the New. Christ never said anything about killing babies. As far as slavery goes, it was a fact of life and still is. Do you think slavery no longer exists just because it's no longer legally sanctioned in the US and other countries? Slavery is a alive and healthy, albeit in the underground black market. You're just spinning your wheels and and hairsplitting on all of your hateful remarks. You lost this debate long, long ago.
@southwriter I'm referring to the Bible which is both. The God you worship, himself, caused the dashing of babies according to your bible. The God you consider "love". And Moses, a "man of god" and a prophet, orders the killing of men, women, and children, oh except the virgin women, you can keep those as sex slaves. Whether slavery exists or not is not the issue. Fact is the bible including the NT condones it. It is a sick, twisted, immoral invention of ancient man that you adopt as "love". Sad
@southwriter You know what? Your bible says that woman are to be subservient to men. So since I am above you, you shouldn't even be questioning me. ;)
@kubush No. You are taking the Bible out of context and twisting words to your own ends to try to win an argument, which you lost long ago. The further you go with this, the dumber you make yourself. I'm sorry that you have no Faith, for whatever reason. The only thing that I can do is to pray for you that God will change your stoney heart and evil thoughts into love for Christ once again.
@southwriter The sure sign to spot the loser of the argument is to see the substance of the replies, and yours are just full of "you're wrong, im right" assertions and insults. You can't defend your faith and your bible because it is indefensible. The bible plainly says that the wife is to be submissive, oh and she should be quiet in the church. There are plenty more examples but you'll just squeeze your eyes shut and keep trying to convince yourself that you won this argument.
@kubush Whatever you have to tell yourself for your lonely, pathetic excuse of a life is fine. Yeah, you won. You won nothing but a worthless life and a lonely death with unhappiness to greet you like you've never known. Congrats on winning.
@southwriter Of course, another insulting rhetorical reply with no substance and no purpose other that to make yourself feel better. How about you address tha actual issues instead of attacking me personally? Whether or not my life is worthless or lonely is irrelevant to this topic. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Christians always resort to this sort of rhetoric when their backs are against the wall. In reality you only know what you've been told to believe. Your mind is enslaved.
@kubush Son, I've listened to all of your whiney arguments as you deperately try to defend your lonely existence. I don't have a "slave mind", I have the love of Christ and the freedom to accept or reject anything about Christ. He doesn't make me love Him or obey His rules, I do so because I want to. This gives stability in my life- order in chaos to stand up to evil-talking people like you. I have a rock solid stability in my life you will never have without God. I pity you.
@southwriter I'm not your son and thank goodness for that! I have no need to defend my existence nor have I done anything remotely like that in this discussion. Seems like you are literally making things up to suite your feelings of superiority. Oh? He doesn't making you love him? Other than the threat of hell fire of course. Save your pity for yourself.
@kubush No, you don't need to defend your existence, whatever it's for for you. Without God, there is nothing. You are a sad and dark-hearted person who needs prayers to change your heart and mind. So, what if- just for a moments thought- I'm right about God and you're wrong? Is it worth your soul to hedge your bets against God? I really do pity you.
@southwriter Why am I "dark hearted"? Because I don't buy into your ancient religious myths? Who are you to judge me or my heart? Even IF your god was real, he is completely unworthy of worship. The God of the bible is a tyrannical monster and for you to worshop such a beast shows how "dark hearted" and fearful you are. You are a coward. You are afraid of using your brain. You fear not having some magical person in the sky looking after you. I pity you.
@kubush I'm not a woman, you jackass. You're also corrupting the truth by taking it out of context. Yes, a wife should be subservient to her husband, just as a HUSBAND SHOULD ALSO BE SUBSERIENT TO HIS WIFE! You forgot that part. We should be subservient to each other with love and respect.
@southwriter Except, Eve was created out of Adam's rib because she is to be subservient to him, not the other way around. You are taking, what you consider to be God's words, out of context. Blasphemey! "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church... 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. "
@southwriter Show me a quote in the bible that says "husbands should submit to their wives in everything". I dare you! Or you can just admit that you are full of it and that the bible is clearly sexist and does not treat women equally to men.
@kubush "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her" . . . "Even so,husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself" . . . "let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband"- Ephesians 25-33. That doesn't sound like slavery or subservience, that sounds like love to me.
@southwriter LOL. Did I say find a quote that says the Husband should love his wife? No, I dont think so. I said find a quote that says the husband is to be SUBMISSIVE to his wife. Try again. (btw, I never said the wife is a slave. Slavery was a different issue that you just avoided.)
@southwriter Oh of course! "Love" is a form of submission! So why does the bible say that wives are to be submissive instead of "love"? Clearly you're trying to reinterpret the words "love" to justify the belief that it is not sexist, and clearly you have failed.
@southwriter But maybe just as many Christians believe that Christianity isn't a religion but a "relationship", he thought the same. And the second quote could be interpreted as supportive of Christianity. Wiki is not a valid source. So you admit that the majority of Nazis were Catholic Christians! LOL. Well at least you can admit that.
@kubush There are far more sources on the Internet confirming my evidence against Hitler's Christianity than the one atheist website you quoted from. Also, "Adolf Hitler" by John Toland, "Hitler and Stalin" by Alan Bullock or even William Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" all confirm it. He left the Church early on, and never went or recieved Communion again. Hitler did use Christianity in many speeches, to win over the Christian populace; he killed thousands of them.
@southwriter I'm not a fence straddler at all. I don't accept that your god exists. Nor any other god because there is no evidence that any of them exist. And just because you do believe in hell doesn't mean that it does exist.
@kubush So . . . to you, we are born in a complete vaccum, we come from nothing. We live our lives, then we die and just rot, right? So, what is the use of life? What purpose would it be to 'live a good life', if it is all in vain? Who made the stars, the trees, the birds . . . and why? Your atheism makes NO SENSE! If we didn't have a creator, how did we get here? If no Deity, where do we go when we die?? What would be the purpose, if not for God?
@southwriter Earth is not a vacuum. What makes you think that life is about the destination and not the journey? No one made the stars, birds, trees. Your question is loaded. We came about from natural processes. Accepting that a magical being just popped everything into existence doesn't make any sense. When we die, we simply cease to exist, just as we were before we were conceived.
@kubush I didn't say Earth was a vaccum, moron. But where do we come from? What is your purpose here? You really believe that we just cease to exist? Then, what is a purpose? Why not just go on a shooting-and-killing spree? You don't have a heaven or hell to worry about. Why not rob people? There are no afterlife consequences, and the only earthly one is prison, assuming you're caught. Your explanation of life sounds very sad and boring. I'm thankful I have our Lord as my solid basis for life!
@southwriter "we are born in a complete vaccum" No, we are born on Earth, moron, not in a vacuum. Life originated from chemical reactions and it evolved from there. We assign our own purpose to our own lives. We don't need a third party purpose giver. If I believe life is finite, then it makes it infinitely more valuable. We evolved with empathy because we are social creatures. Your reality is based on wishful thinking, not truth.
@kubush Chemical reactions? Where did the chemicals come from? Someone had to have made the chemicals and set those chemicals into reactions. Did you do it? Could you make something from nothing right now??
@southwriter Why do you assume it is a "someone" and not a "something"? Just as no one has to put your cells together as you grow, no one had to set those chemical to react. It is simply a process. Virtual particles pop in and out of existence, every moment. So obviously something can come from nothing.
@southwriter So you believe because you fear not having purpose and having no accountability or ultimate justice. Probably a fear of death aswell. Your whole worldview is based on indoctrination and FEAR. It's apparent from your questions and comments. You appeal to the consequences, however faulty, rather than the truth of the matter.
@kubush I don't fear anything on earth, because God is with me. No matter how bad things get, God is always with me. Fear is in your mind. No, I don't fear death. Death is just a portal into the afterlife. In that afterlife, God awaits. I'm just so sorry you'll never know the real Truth until your very last breath.
@southwriter Of course you alleviate your fears with "god is with me". Ironically, "God is with us" was written on the belts of Nazi soldiers, but I digress. Do you have any real evidence or reason to believe in an afterlife or Christianity? If you were born in another place in the world you would have been indoctrinated into another religion and you would be just as adamant about your beliefs as you are now. You've been indoctrinated.
@kubush You're lying about history, again. Yes, I have real evidence. However, you're not going to believe no matter what I could say or do. You're a very sad person. So, for thousands of years, billions of people in every culture, language and faith in the history of this world has believed in some form of Deity- be it God, Jehovah, Zeus, the Great Creator, etc. Now, suddenly, you now think you know everything there is to know? "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'"- Psalms 53:1
@southwriter For thousands of years, billions of people believed the world was flat....
I never claimed to know everything, on the contrary, I, unlike you, am humble to the fact of how much I don't know. You on the other hand think you have it all figured out.
"The bitch says in her heart, 'there is a god'" - someone on youtube. <-- See I can use quotes to insult you too. ;)
thanks for the video! i remember i filled out the 'count me out' form and sent it to the local bishop, only to get a letter back saying they wanted a meeting with me to discuss it. how dare they have the right to delay my defection from a cult i had no choice in joining!!
Want to be an atheist? You may want to listen to this interview with former atheist Howard Storm: video(add DOT)google(add DOT)com/videoplay?docid=2094001112814040004&hl=en#
@EspressoFan4Life I don't believe that you're an anything. You don't know the first thing about science, so I highly doubt that you have a 'fair bit of science' under your belt. You can doubt my experience all you want. I really don't care about your opinion especially considering that you are scientifically illiterate. Check mate. I'm done with you.
@EspressoFan4Life I've already thoroughly raped you. Why are you coming back for more? It's almost like you like getting raped. Into S&M? LOL. I've met plenty of paid TA's, sorry, that doesn't give you more credibility. The substance of your argument reveals your ignorance. I'm also a graduate with a fair bit of science under my belt, so no, you aren't more qualified. Nice assumption thought. I wouldn't think a graduate would make such an uneducated mistake. HA.
@EspressoFan4Life Who said anything about sequestering all meaning? You need to seriously stop making shit up. Use your brain for a change. You assert that my grasp of science is "most likely elementary" without reason. You believe in a magical being that created everything and yet you think you are on the intellectual high ground here. Oh the irony. You pretend to be smart but in reality you are a dumb bit of carbon.
@EspressoFan4Life So you "re-entered the Church" because you identified a stereotype among people that claim to be free-thinkers? Wow, talk about an irrational response. That's like saying, "I'm going to join a cult and believe that the earth is flat because smart people look like nerds." Good luck with that.
@EspressoFan4Life "Meaningful" is a matter of opinion. Does it give any kind of practical knowledge? No. So it's as useful as the Greek and Roman myths.
@EspressoFan4Life Muslim conquests, the French Wars of Religion, thirty years war, Sudan civil war, the Crusades, Israel/Palestinians, and the Reconquista. Muslim terrorist organizations, abortion clinic bombings, etc.
Go ahead and pretend like religion is not a main factor in those conflicts. The rest of us will live in the real world.
@EspressoFan4Life LOL. So your comments being flagged was my censorship of you, while my comments being flagged are bcuz ppl are embarrassed for me? Nice twisted logic there.
Please tell me what the motivation was to setup a Jewish state?
@EspressoFan4Life I didn't flag shit, nor did I remove any responses. It was probably other youtube users who saw the idiocy you are spouting and flagged it for the crap that it is.
@EspressoFan4Life "academic gall"? LOL. Yeah, they really put in a lot of research to determine that the earth was magically created in 6 days. ROTFL. Yeah, and you expect me to not say that that is dumb?!?!?
@EspressoFan4Life Try using a dictionary definition. Everyone knows what a "literal" interpretation of the bible means. You are trying to reinvent the meaning of the words to suite your narrow viewpoint.
@EspressoFan4Life "where did your protestations on Israel and the Inquisition go?" Well, since you haven't refuted it, it still stands. So no, I didn't drop it.
You are Christian. Christianity is a religion, therefor you are religious. LOL. Logic isn't your friend, is it?
@EspressoFan4Life Literal: being the primary or strict meaning of the word or words; not figurative or metaphorical
You should have looked it up before you made yourself look like an ass. "tutorial of the human experience"? Wtf? Talk about talking out of your ass. Genesis is in no way scientific, but it makes testable claims which turn out to be 100% FALSE. The intentions of the authors is apparent unless you are Christian and in denial.
@EspressoFan4Life I am open minded and open to new evidence. You on the other hand are closed-minded and remain fixed in your world view. You refuse to see the relationship of religion and conflict in the world, no matter how blatant it is. Creationism has been around a lot longer than "Christian Science". How am I "UNTHINKING"? Because I don't accept your bullshit? LOL. Gtfo.
@EspressoFan4Life Journalists report things, not explain. Historians are sort of a mixed bad between the two. But nonetheless, science explains things. This is the purpose of science. Science: knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method.
@EspressoFan4Life You're just repeating the same nonsense without any evidence whatsoever. Genesis as literal means that you believe that the earth was created in 6 days by a magical being. If you think its just symbolic then you are not taking it literally. Go learn what "literal" means.
"very nasty atheism" LOL. Aw, poor baby got his feelings hurt cause the big bad atheist said his beliefs are unscientific and demonstrably false? LOL. Creation science is a response to secular science. Period.
@EspressoFan4Life Science explains things. That is the purpose of science; understanding. Early Christians saw Adam as a real historical figure, not just as a symbol. This is historical fact. No reputable scholar disputes this. Maybe early Christians saw Jesus as an allegory too? LOL.
@EspressoFan4Life "But does it cause it?... no, certainly not." Really? The fact that the Christian filled U.N. with a strong Jewish lobby artificially created Israel a few decades ago and the U.S. in similar fashion protected and armed Israel? No, I haven't ignored the other factors. I've readily admitted that there are other factors, I am saying that religion is a MAJOR factor, which you ignore.
@EspressoFan4Life Did you not bother to read my comments? Genesis as a literal account or many of the other stories in the bible, inherently goes against what science tells us. Now Christians are using pseudo-science to try to back up their unscientific claims, which they call "creation science".
And it is made up bullshit because the whole creation science movement is a reaction to secular (not atheistic) science. You just made it up, admit it.
@EspressoFan4Life " It was never meant for this" Nonsense! Have you read the bible? Jesus even makes references to Adam. The intention was very much an origins story. An explanation. It meant what it said and many people for 2,000 years believed it to be so. Taking Adam as a symbolic character is only a recent invention. A modern reinterpretation of the Bible in light of the fact that we know the earth is old and that we evolved.
@EspressoFan4Life It's not like there is a mix of religious ppl on both sides. The lines are clearly drawn on religious grounds. How many Muslims are fighting on the side of Israel or vice versa? And you say that this isn't a religious conflict? Do you have blinders on?
@EspressoFan4Life Zionism was pushed by Christians, why? Because the bible says that the Jews need to have their homeland in order for Jesus to return and many Jews believed that the holy land was given to them by god.
@EspressoFan4Life " 'Creation science' thing is a blatant reaction to atheists" and your evidence for this made up bullshit is...? Creation "science" is a reaction to...SCIENCE! They don't like science because evolution and the BBT don't jive with their literal account of Genesis. Even if atheists didn't exist, evolution and the big bang would still go against the literal account, and there still would be "Creation science".
@EspressoFan4Life I cited my statistic. So before saying stupid shit like that maybe you should try using google?
"Most people know that the Bible isn't a scientific textbook" Depends on what country you live in. Sure 40% is not a majority, but it is a very large chunk of the population.
@EspressoFan4Life Accepting Genesis as literal, anyway you look at it, goes against science. Not difficult to understand. This is not a straw man. This is not something atheists made up. This is what hundreds of millions of self-proclaimed Christians believe. Are there Christians that don't take genesis literally? Of course, but that doesn't change the fact that there are others that do. To conclude that, as atheists commandeering the conclusions of science is fucking stupid.
@EspressoFan4Life Oh? And who are you to judge what "real Christianity" is? You just ignorantly assume that the Catholics are the final authority. There are millions of Christians who beg to differ. "A Gallup poll reported that percentage of people in the US that believe in a strict interpretation of creationism had fallen to 40% in 2010 after a high of 46% in 2006."
It doesn't matter; you claimed that atheists created a parody, that is complete bullshit. Look up Creationism.
@EspressoFan4Life Your problem is you make too many assumptions about what I think. Of course the world isn't black and white. Religion isn't the sole cause in many conflicts. There are usually many factors in play but to ignore or excuse the religious aspect is to delude yourself and make excuses for religion.
@EspressoFan4Life Creationists make up nearly half of the U.S. population. They aren't some tiny minority. You quote me something off of a Catholic Bible that it isn't meant to be taken literally, and when I make the point that there are millions that do take it literally and that it isn't an atheist strawman, you call me deluded and that the Creationist point of view is a minority viewpoint. Seriously? Gtfo.
@EspressoFan4Life "at one point". NO, it isn't "at one point", it is considered holy land right now. Israel is a JEWISH State, the Palestinians are Muslim and want their holy land back. It is astounding that you can't comprehend that.
Use google. It's your friend. There was no separation of church and state, they were intertwined. The argument here has gone off topic. The Inquisition is no doubt a religious movement, which is a conclusion which you keep trying to avoid.
@EspressoFan4Life The VAST majority of bibles say no such thing. That would be awesome if all bibles had that written on them.
How am I deluded? I make no assumptions of Christianity. I take it for what it is from the Bible and from Christians that profess the belief in the bible. Where do you get your picture of Christianity? Wishful thinking? Now THAT is deluded.
@EspressoFan4Life So that is your evidence of atheists "commandeering" science? LOL. Look, the bible itself proclaims Genesis as a literal origins story, as is evident by genealogies in the bible and references such as those given by Jesus. And it isn't as if atheists came up with a strawman story. You've heard of Creationism haven't you? THEY (Creationists) are the ones claiming it as science, not atheists. Try again.
@EspressoFan4Life "HAHA! You really think that the LAND DISPUTE in Palestine is a religious conflict?" They are fighting over HOLY LAND! So, YEAH, it is a religious conflict!
You're ignorant if you don't know that the Vatican was far more powerful than the royalty in Spain. Regardless, the Inquisition was religiously motivated. To dispute that is like denying the holocaust.
@EspressoFan4Life Well, what you say is stupid. Since when have atheists "twisted" science and history? Give an example of each. This should be interesting...
Don't project. Just because you adhere to dogmatic beliefs, doesn't mean everyone does.
@EspressoFan4Life Please read it in context. I wasn't saying that there was a "Middle East War". I was referring to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the civil unrest due to conflict between different religious sects in Iraq and other surrounding countries. I didn't realize that you are so dense that you couldn't figure that out.
The Spanish Crown was ruled by the Church during the time of the Inquisition. Learn some history.
I don't know why anyone would want to stay in a church that covers the butts of pedophile priests. As a de facto former Roman Catholic, I am disgusted with that church's behavior - not only due to the aforementioned sex abuse, but also its stances on abortion and birth control (which I consider out of date and unrealistic considering the world's ballooning population), women in the clergy, and married priests. Also, I'd disgusted that many Catholic school girls wear teeny-tiny kilts to class.
@EspressoFan4Life Crusades, inquisition, Middle East, Sudan, etc. ALL religious based wars and not simply of "religious character". To deny that wars have been fought and lives have been lost due to religious motivations is to deny history and facts. But I suppose that religious people are used to denying facts.
@kubush Can you prove that the Catholic Church is evil? No you can not for the Catholic Church stands firm to the Teachings of JESUS CHRIST and HIM alone, You are the outsider looking in and have not any true understanding of the true Church of GOD
@4everjesusrules Other than: systematically covering up child molestation within their ranks or undermining the fight against AIDS in Africa? There are children starving in this world while the Pope sits on a golden throne. You are indoctrinated. You are a blind follower of this man-made institution. You don't have God in your heart, you worship a false idol: the Pope and the Church.
@kubush that is where you are totally wrong, First of all the Catholic Church is totally involved in the fight against aids, most of the research is funded by Catholic organizations, approved by the Vatican, secondly the Pope has been handling the matters of child abuse by priests and higher, But you refuse to acknowledge that and further the Pope hardly has time to sit down with all the Work he does for the communities and in the world, get your head out of the sand and WAKE UP!!!
@4everjesusrules Their number one priority in Africa is to make sure people don't use condoms. As for "most research is funded by Catholic organizations", do you have a reference for that because I highly doubt it. And where do you think the Vatican's money comes from? Donations and tithes. Everyone knows how he's handled the pedophile priests, he shut the victims up and relocated the priests so they could molest more kids. Fuck the Catholic church.
@kubush Do you know why condom use is not allowed? Because you shouldn't have premarital sex, so there is education for that there, further I think you can look up the information pertainingto the funding, you seem tough enough to think you know better, further you don't know your own arse from a hole in the ground, The Pope is removing priests from service for episodes as such that ppl are reporting the bishops are the ones trying to cover up the crap and the Pope is always trying to resolve it
@4everjesusrules "Because you shouldn't have premarital sex" Or so says the Catholic church. People will have sex, it is part of our nature. So it makes sense to promote SAFE sex rather that opposing it and causing AIDS to spread. There are several cases that clearly show that the Church and the current Pope did not remove priests but instead kept quiet. Only when they have been exposed has the Church done something. Fact.
@kubush The Catholic church is hypocritical. Maybe I have beefs about the dress code of many schoolkids (they shouldn't dress like hookers in what is supposed to be a Catholic school), but the reality is that people have sex for various reasons, including procreation - and sometimes it's better for the child to have one good parent than two lousy ones in one household. And, no, condom use doesn't promote promiscuity; it's one of many ways to control the spread of STDs, including HIV/AIDS.
Notice: The Vatican has deleted the Formal act of Defection from Canon Law, see video of co-founder of CountMeOut Paul Dunbar, talking about the future of CountMeOut.ie
In reference to the slide shown in 6:54, the lyrics from Eagle's Hotel California immediately sprang up in my mind..." You can check out anytime you like, BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE ! " How horrible for the people caught in this predicament. It is truly sad for these people to turn to Atheism when their first taste and exposure was to catholicism, which is not the true christian faith that Jesus the Son of God died on the cross for.
I find a socio-democratic extrapolation of the golden rule is more than enough to deal with most issues. Google: Atheist Ireland Immorality claiming morality and you will find the essay I wrote on the subject for the Atheist Ireland blog.
But if, after 6000 years, we finally understand that there really isn't any such thing as objective morality, justice, or even good and evil, why should anyone care?
That too is answered in the essay I just linked you to. There are perfectly good reasons for not doing crimes that do not rely on imagining magic beings in the sky. The fact is most of us want to live in a society where such crimes do not exist, which is reason enough not to commit them and hence lend towards creating a society where they do exist.
Stalin didn't much care for your fantasy utopia; he wanted a society organized around his own interests - and atheism, with its rejection of Natural Law, suited that perfectly. The State was "god".
Mao felt the same way, as did Pol Pot and Hitler. All of them rejected God, and placed the State on the throne.
Total Tangent. If you have something to argue with about Stalin, go talk to someone who is espousing the same ideas as him. I clearly am not. You appear to have a record you wish to play, and you are happy to play it even when it is not relevant. Nothing in what I am saying matches what they espoused, or the kind of state they wished to create.
Not a tangent at all. If you see man an "animal", then why should he not act like an animal? Stalin acted according to self-interest. His survival, and the spread of his DNA was assured - and he died peacefully in bed (after murdering 20,000,000 people, of course).
What youre listing is dictatorships. Nothing even remotely similar to what Im saying. Theism is just the idea that theres a single dictator of morals. The states you list are the same thing. Stalin did beleive in objective morality... one set BY HIM. This, again, is nothing to do with what I am espousing. So you can either reply to me and what I am saying, or ignore what I am saying and harp on about what other people who are not me have done and said. If the latter then I have no time for you.
Okay, I read the article - and it's totally retarded. It answers none of the questions I pose, and - most importantly - it is not even consistent with what we know about evolutionary theory. Mr. McBride is simply a Dawkins devotee, and that's his big mistake.
Mr. McBride obviously has no understanding of Natural Selection or Darwin's theory of evolution. He's reading polemic atheist propaganda and thinking that he's "rational" and such.
@Dystopiologist Again it is very easy to call things names like "retarded" and to simply declare people have "no understanding" but saying it over and over does not make it so. Present your argument and get past the ad hominem approach and you might make some progress in the discussion. Learn this rule: Insults demean only the insulter, NEVER the insulted. Ever. Raise your game here please.
1) Have you heard of "Gause's Law" (sometimes called the "competitive exclusion principle")? It states that if two differing organisms are placed together, and resources are limited, one will ALWAYS destroy the other. This "law" has been proven in the laboratory.
2) There is no "whole species" phenomenon amongst humans. We know that humans can, and commonly do, make homocidal and genocidal distinctions between themselves and their fellow men.
By the way your extrapolation of Gauses Law is false. The law simply states that with limited resources and ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL (which they never are in reality) one species will DOMINATE over the other, not "destroy" the other as you just claimed. Dominance is not the same as destruction and two species sharing the same resource can both continue to live.
What this has to do with morality I am entirely unsure however, and again I have to ask you for "relevance please"
"There is no "whole species" phenomenon amongst humans"
Nor have I claimed 1. That has nothing to do with what Im saying because I can still espouse what I feel is the best moral system available to us. Just because the reality will never quite reach that ideal, no matter how much we aspire to it, does not negate the idea itself.
Alas there is NO moral system thus far adumbrated by anyone that ever attains the ideals is espouses. This does not mean we should not go with the best one we find
If there is an excuse to fight, people do. Dawkins appeals to some sort of "comraderie" between humans as a "species" - but this feel-good fantasy conflicts with both evolutionary theory and with history.
I am also aware of that too. Again I am not seeing the relevance.
And as with Stalin, if you have a problem with something Dawkins says then take it up with him. I am not sure why half your conversation with me about what I am saying has to be about giving about what people who are NOT me say or do. He is a very approachable man. If you want to debate HIS ideas go debate them with HIM.
"Jesus said to the apostles, "are u going to leave too""
Not sure what the point is? It is hardly unusual for charlatans and liars to obsess and worry about how dedicated their followers may or may not be. Such worry and paranoia is entirely normal in such scenarios.
The new way of liking or disliking a video is abominable. I will now always comment on a video. This video shows the depth of the scandal and the depth of the work that the Roman Catholic Church will go to, to keep you in their fold.
The Roman Church is working at cross purposes to the world's progress, by condemning the use of condoms, by discriminating against people, including gay, straight, lesbian and transgendered people.
Go Ireland! It's time leave this outdated nonsense behind and move forward.

@southwriter No, believing that wine literally turns into the blood of a god-man if a man in a robe gives it to you, makes you the idiot.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush If that is so, and you ARE right, when we die, I'll just rot in the ground after wasting my life believing in a "fairy tale". However, if, when we die- I was right on believing in Christ and worshipping Him, and YOU were wrong- I'll have heaven and you'll have hell to pay. Are you willing to risk everything of your soul for that?
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Or maybe the Muslim faith is the correct one! OMG, you're right! I should be a Muslim! You know, just in case! I guess you're going to convert to Islam now, cuz I know you don't want to risk your eternal soul!
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush I'm not-nor will ever be a Muslim. You're a very sad, lost person.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter ...? ...but according to your, oh so persuasive and logical argument, you should believe for fear of the possible Muslim hell you would have to go to if you didn't. So are you telling me that the threat of hell and hedging your bets isn't convincing to you? Hm....
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Heaven & hell are there for everyone- Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddist, etc. I have no idea what you're rambling about.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Buddhists and Jews don't believe in hell. You are proposing Pascal's wager and make the false assumption that believing in Christianity is more reasonable because there is only one other alternative and it is "safer" to believe in Christianity. Well lets suppose that a God exists that rewards skepticism and punishes blind belief, then wouldn't it be safer to be an atheist? Or suppose the Islam is true....
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Jews do believe in a hell. And, there's not a single solitary line in either the Old or New Testaments that backs up a claim about skepticism in God. In fact, just the opposite. A "fence straddler" like yourself is in worse trouble. "So, because you are neither cold (against God) or hot (zealot for God), I will spew you out of my mouth"- Rev. 3:16. And, just because Buddhists don't believe in hell, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter WRONG, Jews don't believe in hell. Get your facts straight. And what makes you think that I was refering to the bible??? You said that it is safer to believe in Christianity; and I am saying, "what if Christianity is wrong and that the real god that exists punishes people that accept the false teachings of the bible"? Then you wouldn't be "safer", now would you? Why can't you understand this simple concept? Christianity isn't the only religion or belief that exists.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Jews don't believe in a literal hell like Christians do, but they do believe in a place of eternal punishment (hell) for people, like Hitler, who have done evil in their lives.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter There is no eternal punishment in Jewish theology. The closest thing would be a place of purgatory that lasts up to 12 months, not eternity. According to Christian theology, Hitler may very well be in Heaven if he accepted Jesus before he died. Not a very just system, is it?
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Again, you're wrong. And, as far as Hitler goes . . . he never accepted Christ. He was very anti-Christian, and admitted as much.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter He was a Christian and you cannot know that he didn't accept Jesus into his heart on his deathbed.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Hitler was NOT a Christian!! He was born and raised Catholic, but he gave it up early on and completely renounced it later in life! He didn't just put Jews to death- he put many Catholics to death, anyone who stood up against him! Don't start spreading lies about history! I'm a historian, so don't go re-writing history to win an argument you lost long ago.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Historian? LOL! Go back to school. "My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter." Hitler 1922 "The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity." Hitler 1934.
Hitler was a Christian. Now stop trying to rewrite history.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush That, idiot, was said by Hitler to win more people over to his side. In actuality, he had sworn off Christianity long ago! You're the liar here. Hitler hated Christians, as did Stalin, and . . . you.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Well, I provided direct quotes from Hitler and you have provided....? Assertions? Hitler never renounced his Christianity. Nor was he ever excommunicated from the Church. For someone that hates Christians he has a funny way of showing it by forcing Christianity on the military and schools, and enforcing church doctrine, even outlawing abortion because the church mandated it. Hitler was a Christian.
I don't hate Christians.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush "National Socialism (Nazi) and religion can NOT exist together . . . the heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of CHRISTIANITY. I read the ONE website wher you got your info, which is an atheist website. Most all others, including Wikipedia, of all places, give very strong evidence that Hitler was NOT a Christian. He did use Christianity in his speeches because he knew that the majority of Germans were Catholic Christians. I also realize that you are also a Communist.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter How am I a communist? ROTFL! This should be interesting...
Hitler said in private that he is and will always be a Catholic.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush So . . . you and Hitler were close friends and spent a lot of time in private, huh?
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter No, it was according to someone that was close to him. I guess your mind is too small to get that.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Many others close to him refuted Christianity along with him. ONCE AND FOR ALL, Adolf Hitler was NOT a CHRISTIAN! That is your Communist diatribe. He may have SAID so, but he SAID a lot of things to win votes or people to his side. The majority of Germany is catholic, and he had to do a snowjob on them! Just because he said so doesn't mean it was true. This also has nothing to do with your idiotic atheism. If you really believe and equate Hitler and Christianity as the same, you're evil.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter No Hitler was a person, Christianity is a religion, they aren't the same thing. Your religion is evil. Your bible is evil. Your bible condones slavery, instead of condemning it. It's sexist. Even the underlying theology is inherently evil. The god you believe in is petty, caring only about how much praise and worship he gets, willing to condemn ppl to eternal torture if they refuse. You're pathetic for accepting such an evil religion.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush You know what I meant by Christianity and Hitler- don't hairsplit. You'll learn the truth on your very last breaths of life. I only hope you'll reconsider before then. There's nothing evil about love. You are the most saddest and pathetic person I've ever come across.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter And what makes you think your religion and the bible is all about love? Have you even read the bible? How is splitting babies over rocks, "love"? How is teaching that you can beat your slave as long as they don't die within the first few days, "love"? If you think that is "love" than you are morally bankrupt.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush You're referring to the Old Testament, I'm referring to the New. Christ never said anything about killing babies. As far as slavery goes, it was a fact of life and still is. Do you think slavery no longer exists just because it's no longer legally sanctioned in the US and other countries? Slavery is a alive and healthy, albeit in the underground black market. You're just spinning your wheels and and hairsplitting on all of your hateful remarks. You lost this debate long, long ago.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter I'm referring to the Bible which is both. The God you worship, himself, caused the dashing of babies according to your bible. The God you consider "love". And Moses, a "man of god" and a prophet, orders the killing of men, women, and children, oh except the virgin women, you can keep those as sex slaves. Whether slavery exists or not is not the issue. Fact is the bible including the NT condones it. It is a sick, twisted, immoral invention of ancient man that you adopt as "love". Sad
kubush 6 months ago
@southwriter You know what? Your bible says that woman are to be subservient to men. So since I am above you, you shouldn't even be questioning me. ;)
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush I'm not a woman, you jackass.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter ROTFL! But I guess I would be right if you were? HAHAHA!
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush No. You are taking the Bible out of context and twisting words to your own ends to try to win an argument, which you lost long ago. The further you go with this, the dumber you make yourself. I'm sorry that you have no Faith, for whatever reason. The only thing that I can do is to pray for you that God will change your stoney heart and evil thoughts into love for Christ once again.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter The sure sign to spot the loser of the argument is to see the substance of the replies, and yours are just full of "you're wrong, im right" assertions and insults. You can't defend your faith and your bible because it is indefensible. The bible plainly says that the wife is to be submissive, oh and she should be quiet in the church. There are plenty more examples but you'll just squeeze your eyes shut and keep trying to convince yourself that you won this argument.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Whatever you have to tell yourself for your lonely, pathetic excuse of a life is fine. Yeah, you won. You won nothing but a worthless life and a lonely death with unhappiness to greet you like you've never known. Congrats on winning.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Of course, another insulting rhetorical reply with no substance and no purpose other that to make yourself feel better. How about you address tha actual issues instead of attacking me personally? Whether or not my life is worthless or lonely is irrelevant to this topic. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Christians always resort to this sort of rhetoric when their backs are against the wall. In reality you only know what you've been told to believe. Your mind is enslaved.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Son, I've listened to all of your whiney arguments as you deperately try to defend your lonely existence. I don't have a "slave mind", I have the love of Christ and the freedom to accept or reject anything about Christ. He doesn't make me love Him or obey His rules, I do so because I want to. This gives stability in my life- order in chaos to stand up to evil-talking people like you. I have a rock solid stability in my life you will never have without God. I pity you.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter I'm not your son and thank goodness for that! I have no need to defend my existence nor have I done anything remotely like that in this discussion. Seems like you are literally making things up to suite your feelings of superiority. Oh? He doesn't making you love him? Other than the threat of hell fire of course. Save your pity for yourself.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush No, you don't need to defend your existence, whatever it's for for you. Without God, there is nothing. You are a sad and dark-hearted person who needs prayers to change your heart and mind. So, what if- just for a moments thought- I'm right about God and you're wrong? Is it worth your soul to hedge your bets against God? I really do pity you.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Why am I "dark hearted"? Because I don't buy into your ancient religious myths? Who are you to judge me or my heart? Even IF your god was real, he is completely unworthy of worship. The God of the bible is a tyrannical monster and for you to worshop such a beast shows how "dark hearted" and fearful you are. You are a coward. You are afraid of using your brain. You fear not having some magical person in the sky looking after you. I pity you.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush I'm not a woman, you jackass. You're also corrupting the truth by taking it out of context. Yes, a wife should be subservient to her husband, just as a HUSBAND SHOULD ALSO BE SUBSERIENT TO HIS WIFE! You forgot that part. We should be subservient to each other with love and respect.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Except, Eve was created out of Adam's rib because she is to be subservient to him, not the other way around. You are taking, what you consider to be God's words, out of context. Blasphemey! "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church... 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. "
Clearly you haven't read the bible.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Think as you wish in your sad, warped view. My prayers will be for your misguided, lonely soul.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Show me a quote in the bible that says "husbands should submit to their wives in everything". I dare you! Or you can just admit that you are full of it and that the bible is clearly sexist and does not treat women equally to men.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her" . . . "Even so,husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself" . . . "let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband"- Ephesians 25-33. That doesn't sound like slavery or subservience, that sounds like love to me.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter LOL. Did I say find a quote that says the Husband should love his wife? No, I dont think so. I said find a quote that says the husband is to be SUBMISSIVE to his wife. Try again. (btw, I never said the wife is a slave. Slavery was a different issue that you just avoided.)
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Love is a form of respect and submission to the other person.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Oh of course! "Love" is a form of submission! So why does the bible say that wives are to be submissive instead of "love"? Clearly you're trying to reinterpret the words "love" to justify the belief that it is not sexist, and clearly you have failed.
kubush 6 months ago
@southwriter But maybe just as many Christians believe that Christianity isn't a religion but a "relationship", he thought the same. And the second quote could be interpreted as supportive of Christianity. Wiki is not a valid source. So you admit that the majority of Nazis were Catholic Christians! LOL. Well at least you can admit that.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush There are far more sources on the Internet confirming my evidence against Hitler's Christianity than the one atheist website you quoted from. Also, "Adolf Hitler" by John Toland, "Hitler and Stalin" by Alan Bullock or even William Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" all confirm it. He left the Church early on, and never went or recieved Communion again. Hitler did use Christianity in many speeches, to win over the Christian populace; he killed thousands of them.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter I'm not a fence straddler at all. I don't accept that your god exists. Nor any other god because there is no evidence that any of them exist. And just because you do believe in hell doesn't mean that it does exist.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush So . . . to you, we are born in a complete vaccum, we come from nothing. What would be the purpose, if not for God?
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Earth is not a vacuum. What makes you think that life is about the destination and not the journey? No one made the stars, birds, trees. Your question is loaded. We came about from natural processes. Accepting that a magical being just popped everything into existence doesn't make any sense. When we die, we simply cease to exist, just as we were before we were conceived.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush I didn't say Earth was a vaccum, moron. But where do we come from? What is your purpose here? You really believe that we just cease to exist? Then, what is a purpose? Why not just go on a shooting-and-killing spree? You don't have a heaven or hell to worry about. Why not rob people? There are no afterlife consequences, and the only earthly one is prison, assuming you're caught. Your explanation of life sounds very sad and boring. I'm thankful I have our Lord as my solid basis for life!
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter "we are born in a complete vaccum" No, we are born on Earth, moron, not in a vacuum. Life originated from chemical reactions and it evolved from there. We assign our own purpose to our own lives. We don't need a third party purpose giver. If I believe life is finite, then it makes it infinitely more valuable. We evolved with empathy because we are social creatures. Your reality is based on wishful thinking, not truth.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush Chemical reactions? Where did the chemicals come from? Someone had to have made the chemicals and set those chemicals into reactions. Did you do it? Could you make something from nothing right now??
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Why do you assume it is a "someone" and not a "something"? Just as no one has to put your cells together as you grow, no one had to set those chemical to react. It is simply a process. Virtual particles pop in and out of existence, every moment. So obviously something can come from nothing.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush You really do believe that, don't you? Well, as I said before- you'll find out on your last breath, and by then it'll be too late.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter So you believe because you fear not having purpose and having no accountability or ultimate justice. Probably a fear of death aswell. Your whole worldview is based on indoctrination and FEAR. It's apparent from your questions and comments. You appeal to the consequences, however faulty, rather than the truth of the matter.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush I don't fear anything on earth, because God is with me. No matter how bad things get, God is always with me. Fear is in your mind. No, I don't fear death. Death is just a portal into the afterlife. In that afterlife, God awaits. I'm just so sorry you'll never know the real Truth until your very last breath.
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter Of course you alleviate your fears with "god is with me". Ironically, "God is with us" was written on the belts of Nazi soldiers, but I digress. Do you have any real evidence or reason to believe in an afterlife or Christianity? If you were born in another place in the world you would have been indoctrinated into another religion and you would be just as adamant about your beliefs as you are now. You've been indoctrinated.
kubush 6 months ago
@kubush You're lying about history, again. Yes, I have real evidence. However, you're not going to believe no matter what I could say or do. You're a very sad person. So, for thousands of years, billions of people in every culture, language and faith in the history of this world has believed in some form of Deity- be it God, Jehovah, Zeus, the Great Creator, etc. Now, suddenly, you now think you know everything there is to know? "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'"- Psalms 53:1
southwriter 6 months ago
@southwriter For thousands of years, billions of people believed the world was flat....
I never claimed to know everything, on the contrary, I, unlike you, am humble to the fact of how much I don't know. You on the other hand think you have it all figured out.

You do not know what science is.

I've readily admitted that there are other factors, I am saying that religion is a MAJOR factor, which you ignore.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life It doesn't have to be a Palestinian Muslim. Show me any Muslim siding with Israel.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Did you not bother to read my comments? Genesis as a literal account or many of the other stories in the bible, inherently goes against what science tells us. Now Christians are using pseudo-science to try to back up their unscientific claims, which they call "creation science".
And it is made up bullshit because the whole creation science movement is a reaction to secular (not atheistic) science. You just made it up, admit it.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life I did.
Show me an example of Muslims fighting for Israel. Then I'll consider your point.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life " It was never meant for this" Nonsense! Have you read the bible? Jesus even makes references to Adam. The intention was very much an origins story. An explanation. It meant what it said and many people for 2,000 years believed it to be so. Taking Adam as a symbolic character is only a recent invention. A modern reinterpretation of the Bible in light of the fact that we know the earth is old and that we evolved.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life It's not like there is a mix of religious ppl on both sides. The lines are clearly drawn on religious grounds. How many Muslims are fighting on the side of Israel or vice versa? And you say that this isn't a religious conflict? Do you have blinders on?
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Zionism was pushed by Christians, why? Because the bible says that the Jews need to have their homeland in order for Jesus to return and many Jews believed that the holy land was given to them by god.
Do your research. Take your own advice.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life " 'Creation science' thing is a blatant reaction to atheists" and your evidence for this made up bullshit is...? Creation "science" is a reaction to...SCIENCE! They don't like science because evolution and the BBT don't jive with their literal account of Genesis. Even if atheists didn't exist, evolution and the big bang would still go against the literal account, and there still would be "Creation science".
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life I cited my statistic. So before saying stupid shit like that maybe you should try using google?
"Most people know that the Bible isn't a scientific textbook" Depends on what country you live in. Sure 40% is not a majority, but it is a very large chunk of the population.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Accepting Genesis as literal, anyway you look at it, goes against science. Not difficult to understand. This is not a straw man. This is not something atheists made up. This is what hundreds of millions of self-proclaimed Christians believe. Are there Christians that don't take genesis literally? Of course, but that doesn't change the fact that there are others that do. To conclude that, as atheists commandeering the conclusions of science is fucking stupid.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Oh? And who are you to judge what "real Christianity" is? You just ignorantly assume that the Catholics are the final authority. There are millions of Christians who beg to differ. "A Gallup poll reported that percentage of people in the US that believe in a strict interpretation of creationism had fallen to 40% in 2010 after a high of 46% in 2006."
It doesn't matter; you claimed that atheists created a parody, that is complete bullshit. Look up Creationism.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Your problem is you make too many assumptions about what I think. Of course the world isn't black and white. Religion isn't the sole cause in many conflicts. There are usually many factors in play but to ignore or excuse the religious aspect is to delude yourself and make excuses for religion.
kubush 10 months ago
First time ever I have heard someone argue that the Spanish Inquisition is not religiously based! TALK ABOUT DELUSION!
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Creationists make up nearly half of the U.S. population. They aren't some tiny minority. You quote me something off of a Catholic Bible that it isn't meant to be taken literally, and when I make the point that there are millions that do take it literally and that it isn't an atheist strawman, you call me deluded and that the Creationist point of view is a minority viewpoint. Seriously? Gtfo.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life "at one point". NO, it isn't "at one point", it is considered holy land right now. Israel is a JEWISH State, the Palestinians are Muslim and want their holy land back. It is astounding that you can't comprehend that.
Use google. It's your friend. There was no separation of church and state, they were intertwined. The argument here has gone off topic. The Inquisition is no doubt a religious movement, which is a conclusion which you keep trying to avoid.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life I dropped it? ROTFL! I was the last one to mention it. Talk about delusions. LOL.
You haven't proven your case that atheists have commandeered anything, let alone history. Try again.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life The VAST majority of bibles say no such thing. That would be awesome if all bibles had that written on them.
How am I deluded? I make no assumptions of Christianity. I take it for what it is from the Bible and from Christians that profess the belief in the bible. Where do you get your picture of Christianity? Wishful thinking? Now THAT is deluded.
You haven't proven your case.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life So that is your evidence of atheists "commandeering" science? LOL. Look, the bible itself proclaims Genesis as a literal origins story, as is evident by genealogies in the bible and references such as those given by Jesus. And it isn't as if atheists came up with a strawman story. You've heard of Creationism haven't you? THEY (Creationists) are the ones claiming it as science, not atheists. Try again.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life "HAHA! You really think that the LAND DISPUTE in Palestine is a religious conflict?" They are fighting over HOLY LAND! So, YEAH, it is a religious conflict!
You're ignorant if you don't know that the Vatican was far more powerful than the royalty in Spain. Regardless, the Inquisition was religiously motivated. To dispute that is like denying the holocaust.
kubush 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Well, what you say is stupid. Since when have atheists "twisted" science and history? Give an example of each. This should be interesting...
Don't project. Just because you adhere to dogmatic beliefs, doesn't mean everyone does.
kubush 10 months ago

Also, I'd disgusted that many Catholic school girls wear teeny-tiny kilts to class.
markojameow 10 months ago
@EspressoFan4Life Crusades, inquisition, Middle East, Sudan, etc. ALL religious based wars and not simply of "religious character".
4everjesusrules 10 months ago
@4everjesusrules Their number one priority in Africa is to make sure people don't use condoms. As for "most research is funded by Catholic organizations", do you have a reference for that because I highly doubt it. And where do you think the Vatican's money comes from? Donations and tithes. Everyone knows how he's handled the pedophile priests, he shut the victims up and relocated the priests so they could molest more kids. Fuck the Catholic church.
kubush 10 months ago
@kubush Do you know why condom use is not allowed? Because you shouldn't have premarital sex, so there is education for that there, further I think you can look up the information pertainingto the funding, you seem tough enough to think you know better, further you don't know your own arse from a hole in the ground, The Pope is removing priests from service for episodes as such that ppl are reporting the bishops are the ones trying to cover up the crap and the Pope is always trying to resolve it
4everjesusrules 10 months ago
@4everjesusrules "Because you shouldn't have premarital sex" Or so says the Catholic church. People will have sex, it is part of our nature. So it makes sense to promote SAFE sex rather that opposing it and causing AIDS to spread. There are several cases that clearly show that the Church and the current Pope did not remove priests but instead kept quiet. Only when they have been exposed has the Church done something. Fact.
kubush 10 months ago
@kubush The Catholic church is hypocritical. Maybe I have beefs about the dress code of many schoolkids (they shouldn't dress like hookers in what is supposed to be a Catholic school), but the reality is that people have sex for various reasons, including procreation - and sometimes it's better for the child to have one good parent than two lousy ones in one household. And, no, condom use doesn't promote promiscuity; it's one of many ways to control the spread of STDs, including HIV/AIDS.

Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
I find a socio-democratic extrapolation of the golden rule is more than enough to deal with most issues. Google: Atheist Ireland Immorality claiming morality and you will find the essay I wrote on the subject for the Atheist Ireland blog.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
But if, after 6000 years, we finally understand that there really isn't any such thing as objective morality, justice, or even good and evil, why should anyone care?
If one can get away with a crime, why not do it?
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
That too is answered in the essay I just linked you to. There are perfectly good reasons for not doing crimes that do not rely on imagining magic beings in the sky. The fact is most of us want to live in a society where such crimes do not exist, which is reason enough not to commit them and hence lend towards creating a society where they do exist.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
Total Tangent. If you have something to argue with about Stalin, go talk to someone who is espousing the same ideas as him. I clearly am not. You appear to have a record you wish to play, and you are happy to play it even when it is not relevant. Nothing in what I am saying matches what they espoused, or the kind of state they wished to create.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
Not a tangent at all. If you see man an "animal", then why should he not act like an animal? Stalin acted according to self-interest. His survival, and the spread of his DNA was assured - and he died peacefully in bed (after murdering 20,000,000 people, of course).
This MADE SENSE - for him.
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
What youre listing is dictatorships. Nothing even remotely similar to what Im saying. Theism is just the idea that theres a single dictator of morals. The states you list are the same thing. Stalin did beleive in objective morality... one set BY HIM. This, again, is nothing to do with what I am espousing. So you can either reply to me and what I am saying, or ignore what I am saying and harp on about what other people who are not me have done and said. If the latter then I have no time for you.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
Okay, I read the article - and it's totally retarded. It answers none of the questions I pose, and - most importantly - it is not even consistent with what we know about evolutionary theory. Mr. McBride is simply a Dawkins devotee, and that's his big mistake.
Shall I elaborate?
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist If "retarded" is the single best response you can come up with then I am afraid you have not a lot to add on the subject here.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
Mr. McBride obviously has no understanding of Natural Selection or Darwin's theory of evolution. He's reading polemic atheist propaganda and thinking that he's "rational" and such.
I'm sorry; he's not.
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist Again it is very easy to call things names like "retarded" and to simply declare people have "no understanding" but saying it over and over does not make it so. Present your argument and get past the ad hominem approach and you might make some progress in the discussion. Learn this rule: Insults demean only the insulter, NEVER the insulted. Ever. Raise your game here please.
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib Okay, follow me here:
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
I see absolutely no issue with either of those things and what it is I have been espousing. Relevance please?
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
What this has to do with morality I am entirely unsure however, and again I have to ask you for "relevance please"
irishmauddib 1 year ago
"There is no "whole species" phenomenon amongst humans"
Nor have I claimed 1. That has nothing to do with what Im saying because I can still espouse what I feel is the best moral system available to us. Just because the reality will never quite reach that ideal, no matter how much we aspire to it, does not negate the idea itself.
Alas there is NO moral system thus far adumbrated by anyone that ever attains the ideals is espouses. This does not mean we should not go with the best one we find
irishmauddib 1 year ago
@irishmauddib
If there is an excuse to fight, people do. Dawkins appeals to some sort of "comraderie" between humans as a "species" - but this feel-good fantasy conflicts with both evolutionary theory and with history.
Dystopiologist 1 year ago
@Dystopiologist
