@marcohorowitz8 Because they are Penn and TELLER, him not speaking is a gimmick nothing more. It's part of the act, part of the show. What they going to do, get Penn from Penn and Teller? The question then would be "where is Teller?"

@Sozlled actually, its not as much a gimmick as it is pure irony on their names, even though it wasnt ironic on purpose, a pen writes but doesnt speak, so penn is defying his role, a teller is someone who will explain fortunes or predict the events to happen, these need to be well spoken persuasive people, which teller is only one of.

Teller doesn't say anything because when he started doing magic shows during university he found that by not talking and making the audience concentrate on the magic he was far less likely to be heckled. Penn talks alot simply because the show would be boring if it were just two guys doing magic, not talking also it would now would be weird if all of a sudden teller started talking. Don't just make up shit.

I think it's rather sweet, that even though Lorraine messed up the trick, they didn't make fun of her, Teller just took over and spared her blushes, and he made such a basic trick look gold. Sx
